DH’s cricket set up

CalmerComber · 14/07/2019 13:29

Apparently the only acceptable way to watch cricket is with the television image but the radio commentary. Unsure what is wrong with the TV commentary. However due to the way he's set up our ridiculously overcomplicated ‘home entertainment system’ he needs my laptop to do this. I am permanently hooked up to a breast pump or a baby and was looking forward to a Netflix afternoon in bed. He thinks IBU because it’s the World Cup final and England are in it. I think HIBU because I’ve just had twins.

YANBU

tell him to watch the bloody match with the sound on the TV and get you and your babies snuggled up with Netflix.

howwudufeel · 14/07/2019 13:31

It’s the final. I think you should give him a pass on this one.

howwudufeel · 14/07/2019 13:31

The radio is far better commentary.

kaitlinktm · 14/07/2019 13:32

HIBU - how dare he tie up all the entertainment tech and leave you with nothing to watch whilst caring for HIS babies. Nob. Get him told - he can listen to the TV commentary or get a radio FFS.

bridgetreilly · 14/07/2019 13:33

The radio is better, but he needs to get his own radio, not use your laptop.

lazylinguist · 14/07/2019 13:33

Tv and radio on here too. It is better, but it sounds like in your case he's being selfish.

ItchySeveredFoot · 14/07/2019 13:34

how you think he should monopolise all entertainment in the house? When he doesn't need too? Presumably you think she should sit and stare at the wall? I think his pass is that she's keeping the twins with her upstairs so he can watch uninterrupted!

BackforGood · 14/07/2019 13:34

He is right about the radio being the only best way to listen to the cricket.

However, having new twins trumps the cricket.
He could just listen on the radio and you sit in front of the TV.

However - all null and void now as it has been rained off Grin

Ginnymweasley · 14/07/2019 13:34

He is right about the commentary however obviously you should be able to watch what you want elsewhere so he is unreasonable to take your laptop. Hopefully England will be spectacular with the bat so it's over quicker.

Pineapplefish · 14/07/2019 13:35

YANBU. In the circumstances he needs to listen to the TV commentary. Congratulations on your babies!

Iloveacurry · 14/07/2019 13:35

It’s your laptop, use it!

LaurieFairyCake · 14/07/2019 13:35

Tell him to get the radio on his phone - says DH (who is currently watching it on tv)

He says (and I Concur) that you get dibs on your own fucking laptop with 2 breastfeeding babies

howwudufeel · 14/07/2019 13:35

*Itchy. yes. It’s the final of the World Cup. It’s a massive deal for cricket fans. A lot of people listen on the radio whilst watching the TV. The radio commentary is iconic. If you don’t love cricket you won’t understand why this is such a big deal.

minisoksmakehardwork · 14/07/2019 13:36

Even without breastfeeding twins, he would be unreasonable.

With breastfeeding twins he is being so absolutely unreasonable that your only solution is to change the password on your laptop (or put one on it) so he cannot use it. And sit in the same room as him trying to watch the match, pumping away (the noise will drive him potty) and entertaining two small babies.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/07/2019 13:36

He is right about the radio commentary but if you’ve just had twins then he doesn’t get a pass on thus even if it is the final.

He’ll have to just cope with the TV commentary.

Susiesue61 · 14/07/2019 13:37

Ooh I wish I had babies to cuddle while watchinh the cricket!!

Ginnymweasley · 14/07/2019 13:38

susie I wish my babies were small enough to sit still. I missed 2 wickets cause I was gettig 1 yr old ds to stop trying to climb the bookcase. Damn kids

BarbedBloom · 14/07/2019 13:39

I don't care if someone wants to watch sport etc, but they wouldn't be taking my laptop to do it if they had the tv and radio already. Only compromise i would make is he could listen to the radio and watch via the laptop while I had the tv. I don't think it is fair for someone to monopolise a tv, radio and laptop and leave someone else with nothing however big a sporting event is

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/07/2019 13:39

Mind you, you could give him the laptop and both the babies.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/07/2019 13:39

He’s right, it’s the only correct way to watch cricket. Radio commentary is 100x better than TV. That being said, as you’ve just had twins (congratulations Flowers) he should be being chivalrous & letting you have the TV.

loubielou31 · 14/07/2019 13:39

He has until the rain stops to find a solution that does not monopolise all the entertainment devices. (Why won't a digital radio suffice?)

Lunde · 14/07/2019 13:40

Can he not get the radio commentary via his phone?

He is BVU - he cannot take over all entertainment systems just to get the optimal set up for himself

Bluebluered · 14/07/2019 13:41

That’s really really weird.

But it’s one day and he won’t be doing it again at this time for years and years as all the cricket World Cups for at least the next 8 years are half way around the world. So give him a break and stop being so melodramatic. You’re not the first person in the world to have babies.

StellarLunar · 14/07/2019 13:43

Could he nip out and buy a radio? Yanbu

likeafishneedsabike · 14/07/2019 13:45

He’s right about the commentary BUT he needs to get himself a radio. If you’re breastfeeding twins, you need Netflix.
