Totally superficial I know but I think she looks absolutely fantastic.

Or maybe she just follows the Vicki B diet of diet coke/fags/champagne ;)

If only she posted her food diary/exercise routine on insta.

RedDogsBeg · 16/07/2019 19:41

mrscampbell and none of those berating Kate for being too thin would believe the contents of her food diary if it was posted.

ReturnofSaturn · 16/07/2019 20:02

She is very slim but I don't think she looks unhealthy. She doesn't appear frail or anything.

RottnestFerry · 16/07/2019 20:17

Has your wife (if that is actually her) ok’d you uploading a picture of her in her skimpies, Rottnest?

Is that really your wife or just your pretend one

Hmm It really is actually my really real wife and, yes, she is OK with me uploading the picture.

ChristmasArmadillo · 16/07/2019 20:22

I’m just under 5’9 and easily her size if not a bit smaller as I have less muscle definition. I don’t exercise rigorously, I eat fairly sensibly but also plenty of ice cream and pizza! It’s my bones, which are very small, and my genetics ; my grandmother delivered 6 babies in 6 years and never was above a size 4. I’ve had several big healthy babies of my own and no doctor is concerned about my weight. My bigger boned sister of the same height could never weigh what I do without being ill. It’s almost as if...each individual is different, can you imagine?!

OooErMissus · 16/07/2019 20:28

No way would Kate look the way she does if she followed the Diet Coke / fags / champagne diet. Hmm

That photo of her in the blue dress is just, what, three? days ago. It's not a photo pulled from the archives. Again, she basically couldn't look healthier.

P.S. Victoria Beckham subsists on diet coke?? How, er, déclassé ...

P.P.S. I don't actually believe she does, for the record!

I fully admit, I am not one of the lucky souls who can eat whatever they want - if only! My weight has crept up a little, and in order to get back to what I feel more comfortable at, I do have to go without, restrict, and often feel hungry. I am mid 40s, and I'm being totally honest. It is hard work for most women, especially those staring down the barrel of menopause - we do have to make an effort. So if that's not you, you're very, very lucky!

No; she is muscular, not stick like or anything else which suggests muscle wastage or a lack of health! She looks brilliant.

GrabbyGertie · 16/07/2019 21:04

I think she is really pretty and has a lovely figure. If I were her I wouldn’t wear such frumpy clothes. I’d chuck the old fashioned high heels and boring coats and dresses and wear things that are more casual. She looks best in jeans and a teeshirt.

However, I’m not her, so she should wear whatever she wants!

crispysausagerolls · 16/07/2019 21:09

I love her clothes! I think she dresses in a timeless and very elegant manner

Lovelyhotday · 16/07/2019 21:25

She can't really wear jeans to most of the events she attends now can she!

SemperIdem · 16/07/2019 21:57

Yes! @crispysausagerolls

She's far too thin now. Much as I like her.

Exactly!

Surfingtheweb · 16/07/2019 22:05

Ice cubes - low fat ones of course 😂

whitershadeofpale · 16/07/2019 22:10

I think that saying we’ve lost sight of overweight women only tells half the story. We’ve also lost sight of what too thin is. I’m often struck when I see old pictures of celebrities how much weight they’ve lost overtime when they were never considered large at all.

The recent reunion made me realise just how much weight all of the spice girls have lost in the last 20 years. At the time they were just normal young women but nowadays some of them would be considered chunky. Look at pretty much anyone who was in the public eye 20/30 years ago and still is today. They’ve pretty much all lost weight.

It’s interesting because what is “fat” and what is “thin” changes every few generations. I only strive for my body type now because it’s what I’ve grown up believing is attractive due to society. I really wish I had been born in the renaissance when being jiggly was coveted!

swissmilk · 17/07/2019 00:02

I think she is too thin, she hasn't got much body fat - similar to a long distance runner -which she is not?
I think if she took away all her hair extensions she would really look very skinny indeed - very full hair always makes people look younger and healthier ( that's why so many celebs and models use hairpieces etc on the red carpet/shoots).
I also think it's up to her, she has made her choice to be that slim, assuming she doesn't have an eating disorder.
I think she is such a dull dresser, with her money, connections, frame she could wear some really amazing outfits - I think she dresses like a shop girl (nothing wrong with shop girls - but they don't have resources that Kate has) wish she was more fun with her outfits, the press are going to take her photos anyway, so why not make it more interested for us who are interested in fashion and design? Why does she always wear old fashioned heels for example?

zonkin · 17/07/2019 00:40

I'm not sure why people are focussing on height? BMI is based on height and weight. So taking both into account. We're all healthy/underweight/overweight/obese based on our weight and height. Not one taken out of context of the other. I'm puzzled by this "too thin for their height" notion.

We all personally know how much weight given our particular height/natural frame is overweight/slim/underweight.

5 ft 9 is not that particularly tall. Yes taller than average, but not exactly giant like. She looks pretty healthy to me.

pallisers · 17/07/2019 00:55

I live in the US (home of the fatties according to MN) and I regularly see women of similar shape. I also see women of different sizes and shapes but that doesn't negate the fact that there are loads of slim women out there. I had a woman here for lunch last Saturday who was as slim as DOC - she gave birth 4 months ago.

My sister looks like Catherine Cambridge but with bigger boobs. She is in her 50s. She has never exercised. Eats what she wants. I notice that she is always active though. My best friend from primary is thinner than DOC. and always has been. So have her 6 brothers.

This woman has had 3 very healthy big babies. If you look at her and her sister and her mother you can see why she is slim and bounces back. I've no doubt there is an element of diet control in her kitchen but basically me and my sister looked like her after childbirth with none of that.

Genes help. Discipline helps (and it is way easier if you have a cook etc) but ultimately some women stay thin (my sister - pity me) and some don't.

pallisers · 17/07/2019 00:56

I think she dresses like a shop girl

well that is certainly a blast from the past. Shop Girl!

OooErMissus · 17/07/2019 01:30

I never see 'shop girls' dressing like the DOC...!

Rachelover40 · 17/07/2019 01:52

The DofC looks lovely, elegant, happy and healthy. She is slender but so are her siblings and she certainly isn't emaciated. If she was in a bad way, her hair wouldn't be so glossy for a start. Having seen people on television who have anorexia nervosa, and knowing a couple of girls with the disease, there is no comparison between her and them, poor souls. We ought to leave her alone, she's fine. If she did something really wrong she's be fair game for critics, but she certainly doesn't appear to.

pallisers, there are plenty of obese people in the UK I can assure you., including children. There have been several TV documentaries on the subject and healthy eating drives but obesity remains a problem. My husband, for example, is certainly overweight and has type 2 diabetes; it's quite worrying.

groundanchochillipowder · 17/07/2019 02:02

My daughter has a frame like Kate's. She's naturally like that. Her father is the same. She and he both enjoy sports, eat normally, she doesn't care for caffeine at all and has never smoked. She just got lucky. But there's a lot of jealousy about that as this thread is evidence of.

User8888888 · 17/07/2019 06:21

I think this thread was started based on the green dress at Wimbledon where she did look very thin, especially in comparison to the tennis players. I agree she looks perfect in the blue dress and is love her figure.

I’m not sure why so many posters don’t believe some people can be naturally thin. I’m not but I’ve seen it, especially with tall people. That said, I’m sure the DoC is very careful with her diet as she is lots thinner than her uni days where she was slim. Her job is effectively part model so there are huge expectations that she will be thin.

I remember being struck at uni that some of the thinnest girls just ate differently. If a roast was on the menu for dinner, they wouldn’t have lunch. They still looked like they ate loads later on but over the course of the day would have less to eat than the average in total.

TartanTexan · 17/07/2019 06:30

Good point on the Spice Girls - Geri H a good example, £££, resources & time, she’s transformed her body with yoga etc.
