Totally superficial I know but I think she looks absolutely fantastic.

Accusations of no-one could possible have a figure like Kate

Yeah, didn't say that, I said I don't regularly see women like that, because many posters were saying they know loads of women like Kate.

No idea how that's thin shaming.

and the ultimate thin shaming of 'famine victim

Yep, said that about celebrities in general...not Kate. Have you seen catwalk models?

But, yeah, keep putting words into my mouth

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 09:22

formerbabe I think everyone's got your number.

MangoFeverDream · 16/07/2019 09:54

These threads are always the same. A handful of posters salty that they’ve been “thin-shamed” and drone on and on that we’ve all lost sight of what a thin person looks like. Then, a few point out we’ve been gaslighted by thin celebs who claim they lose baby weight by chasing after kids or whatever.

Why not both? Obviously celebs have to do extreme dieting and exercise, it’s kind of part of the job. If you see these people irl it doesn’t look normal! Only a few will be truthful and admit they don’t really eat much. They won’t admit to working hard to achieve their figures, just like they never admit to plastic surgery or Botox. Whatever, we know they do it, and most of us aren’t fooled.

WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt · 16/07/2019 10:03

but that's what is normal!
What is not normal is stuffing yourself all day, seating all day, and going from your car to your sofa to your bed.
What is normal is feeling hungry before your meals, eating what you need and not more, which means usually smaller portions than we get. What is normal is drinking water, and have the occasional wine, soda, alcohol.
It's normal to feel sluggish and uncomfortable when you eat too much and not liking feeling that way.

Some people have completely lost sight of what is - or should - be normal. There are some people who genuinely haven't feel hungry in years - they snack so much between meals, it's a feeling completely alien to them. is that your normal?

SoupDragon · 16/07/2019 10:10

Yep, said that about celebrities in general...not Kate.

Why do you think that makes it OK?

MangoFeverDream · 16/07/2019 10:15

I can tell you that I have not. I am from a place with high obesity rates, I know what that looks like. I also have to work with fashion-y types for my job, they are absolutely tiny and not normal! They have to work hard for that (or just smoke loads of ciggies and not eat, that’s an option too).

SoupDragon · 16/07/2019 10:18

Someone posted this picture of the Queen much further down the thread. I think it deserves re-posting. Obviously she is a much shorter woman though.

I am 5ft 2, In this picture I was 8.5 stone and a size 8. I can’t see size 4-6 for someone of Kate’s height of 5ft 9 as being anything other than too thin.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 16/07/2019 10:42

I am size 6/8 and 5"1. I constantly get told I'm "tiny" and "how do you stay like that" (don't eat huge portions, only drink water, don't drink alcohol, don't exercise). Size 4 at 5"9 must be VERY thin in real life.

OooErMissus · 16/07/2019 10:44

But she's not 'too thin', is she? Too thin for who? You?

Look at the photo of her at the Wimbledon mens' final.

Look at the three bouncy babies she had.

sqeakywheel · 16/07/2019 10:58

In my opinion, she's too thin for me. But it's her body and her life. I'm sure she is happy with her weight and health. But I can state that I think she is too thin. It's only my opinion, not the truth.

Amibeingdaft81 · 16/07/2019 11:00

@crispysausagerolls.
I would have put you at less

I’m 5’7 and 7st 5 (trying to gain, too skinny) and I don’t think I look a stone lighter then you!

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 11:19

But she's not 'too thin', is she? Too thin for who? You?

I've had that said to me, I did think too thin for what, I've got three children and regularly run 15 miles or so not quite sure what I'm too thin for!

I'm not as tall as Kate but weigh just under 8 stone and always have done (in my 50's). I suppose I'm fairly active and don't have a massive appetite. I appreciate I'm unusual for my age though.

RedDogsBeg · 16/07/2019 12:31

Finally, someone admits that Kate is too thin for them, why does Kate's thinness bother you so much squeakywheel?

All those who state Kate is too thin are essentially saying they want Kate to pile on the pounds, why?

crispysausagerolls · 16/07/2019 12:31

amibeingdaft81

I’m still breastfeeding so I might be clinging to a bit of weight - I did actually weigh myself this morning to check!

This!

Amibeingdaft81 · 16/07/2019 12:57

@crispysausagerolls.

Brilliant scales... which ones are they please?

Amibeingdaft81 · 16/07/2019 13:02

@crispysausagerolls.

So bloody annoying that some people look at us and think we don’t eat. Not sure about you - but I am certainly never hungry! (Although absolutely no inclination for junk food, so I suppose that helps! But seriously - my early lunch was most of an avocado, a chicken breast, large salad, cottage cheese, followed by huge bowl of Greek yoghurt and granola. About to have a coffee and banana. So hardly depriving myself)

SerenDippitty · 16/07/2019 13:08

Not saying she should pile on the pounds. But she could easily gain a stone and still look fabulous. Better IMO. But that is just my opinion.

SoupDragon · 16/07/2019 13:13

I can’t see size 4-6 for someone of Kate’s height of 5ft 9 as being anything other than too thin.

That's a very narrow minded view.

fancynancyclancy · 16/07/2019 13:32

All those who state Kate is too thin are essentially saying they want Kate to pile on the pounds, why?

Not at all. I do however think it’s a important discussion why celebs/models have to be so thin. It’s fine if it’s natural of course but I modelled with so many girls who survived on coke & cigarettes or cotton wool, they were naturally thin but wanted to be smaller. I was told to lose weight (I had a 26” waist) & then I would have a fantastic career as I could do catwalk despite my height. I didn’t & gave up as I wasn’t that into it anyway.

It’s not normal to stuff yourself silly & never leave the sofa. However I don’t think it’s normal to barely eat or spend hours exercising, there’s a happy medium.

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 13:58

But no-one will ever acknowledge that there are quite a few of us who are very slim but don't live on cigarettes, coffee and cotton wool!

LaurieMarlow · 16/07/2019 14:16

But no-one will ever acknowledge that there are quite a few of us who are very slim but don't live on cigarettes, coffee and cotton wool

But I think this is pretty rare.

Slim women who eat fairly normally, yes. Kate level slim and eating fairly normally, uncommon.

The pics posted on this thread are of slim women, but not to the degree that Kate is.

I suspect she’s very disciplined in terms of consumption.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 16/07/2019 14:27

I am 50kg and 5"1. I eat pretty healthy and not huge portions. I don't eat fish and chips, I don't go to dessert bars or buy chocolate once a week "as a treat". I only drink tea, coffee and water.

If I wanted to get any slimmer I would have to cut carbs and go to the gym every day. I think to have Kate's figure you would have to be extremely disciplined. Like Victoria Beckham who won't even eat actual cake on her birthday - just a cake made of fruit.

silverystream · 16/07/2019 14:37

But different people do burn different amounts of calories.

My DH, for example, few inches taller than me, more muscle mass burns significantly more than me. Even if we do the same activities (run together, go out together etc). Realised this when we both got FitBit. I put on weight when we ate the same portions in food...I've altered my portions and am losing the excess weight.

So Kate being quite tall, into fitness and eating well is pretty slender. It's not really a surprise. I don't actually think she is that thin, though, as in bony. There was a picture of her and a model who wore the dress she wore at Wimbledon recently. She looked more curvaceous than the model, to me.
