Totally superficial I know but I think she looks absolutely fantastic.

If I wanted to get any slimmer I would have to cut carbs and go to the gym every day. I think to have Kate's figure you would have to be extremely disciplined. Like Victoria Beckham who won't even eat actual cake on her birthday - just a cake made of fruit.

You might need to eat sensibly but there is no need to go to that extreme. Mrs Rotnestferry is fairly slim but eats a pretty normal diet (95% home cooked). She doesn't smoke, do drugs or eat cotton wool. Exercise is above average and she is heavier than she looks.

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 14:47

Ok here is my arm (I can't believe I'm doing this) I think it's slimmer than Kate's (I hate it btw, wish I could put on more weight). I'm a size 6 and weigh 49 kilos, eat perfectly normally. I'm 5ft 5 so yes nothing like as tall as her. I still think she could easily be a 6 though. I make zero effort to be this size. Coffee and fags are a complete no-no!

PolkadotLollipop · 16/07/2019 14:49

Has your wife (if that is actually her) ok’d you uploading a picture of her in her skimpies, Rottnest?

LoafofSellotape · 16/07/2019 14:52

Is that really your wife or just your pretend one?

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 14:53

She looks fab I have to say!

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 14:53

I presumed she was some insta bird

SerenDippitty · 16/07/2019 14:57

But no-one will ever acknowledge that there are quite a few of us who are very slim but don't live on cigarettes, coffee and cotton wool!

I am happy to acknowledge that. What is not acknowledged on here is that not all overweight people are greedy and lazy. You can only be naturally slim never naturally fat

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 16/07/2019 15:03

Since we're all sharing dress sizes, mine is Extremely Chubby with Rather Short Legs

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 16/07/2019 15:03

Damn I forgot to tell everyone what I eat

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 16/07/2019 15:04

Mostly fruit and salad with the occasional treat of chocolate

LOL

Actually no really maybe a bit more than occasional

formerbabe · 16/07/2019 15:05

Some people are naturally thin regardless of what they eat but this is really quite rare.

The problem with denying that some people work really hard at staying slim is that it assumes that anyone who isn't incredibly thin must eat like a glutton.

Wheretohavelunch · 16/07/2019 15:09

formerbabe I totally concur that it's rare.

RedDogsBeg · 16/07/2019 15:24

You can only be naturally slim never naturally fat, 66% of the female population cannot be naturally fat.

Is it particularly hard work to eat sensibly and be reasonably active?

SerenDippitty · 16/07/2019 15:29

I do both but I'm still borderline overweight.

crispysausagerolls · 16/07/2019 15:29

My scales are Kamtron - they sync with an app called “Feelfit” and they are incredible. They were a godsend in losing all my baby weight (went to 80+ kilos 😑).

For reals if I had time or inclination to exercise 3-5 x a week, I would be exactly as slim and toned as KM (not the same body type of course) . I’ve been there and done it before - i didn’t have to deprive myself but just had time to do weights and cardio. As it is I prefer to have a piece of cake but then not eat lunch (swap delicious calories for sensible) or eat a huge Chinese and therefore have salad the next day. And I’ve always been like
That. Although those party times are over as I have to set a good example for DS and find myself eating what he eats/all very healthy stuff. 🤪

I think Kate does not deprive herself; but eat a balanced and healthy diet! She just clearly exercises several times a week too. I don’t see the issue with this or why it’s weird. She looks extremely healthy to me. As I said early, she has VERY narrow hips. Gives the illusion of being more waif-like.

crispysausagerolls · 16/07/2019 15:30

Rottnestferry

Your wife is incredibly fly ❤️

areyoubeingserviced · 16/07/2019 15:45

It’s not easy to keep your weight down when you are older.
I am not going to lie.,I am a slim size 10 and I exercise like a Trojan to keep slim. I don’t eat a lot either
I think that Kate is too thin imo. I would wager that she eats very little and exercises a lot

silverystream · 16/07/2019 15:59

The problem with denying that some people work really hard at staying slim is that it assumes that anyone who isn't incredibly thin must eat like a glutton.

The thing is, I found from personal experience my portion sizes did creep up to match my DH's. We cook healthy meals. Don't really eat between meals but that over sized portion did mean I got fatter over the years. Didn't really notice the difference in portion sizes until I got a FitBit and looked at what I was eating versus what I burnt and what my DH burnt. Same with eating out. I thought it was just a main meal, I wasn't eating desert. However when you look up the nutritional info you realise.

So I think it is incredibly easy to overeat. However once you get in the habit of not doing so and readjust your portions and get used to them it is easy to not overeat and easy to eat with a deficit to lose weight.

crispysausagerolls · 16/07/2019 16:07

So I think it is incredibly easy to overeat

Yes! I was shocked at how much pregnancy weight I gained, especially in the beginning, by following guidelines. I was stuffing myself to eat 2000 calories a day, but assumed it would be fine as it was all healthy. In reality it was simply about 600-700 more than I needed and I ended up the size of a house. Lessons have been learnt!

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 16/07/2019 16:10

So I think it is incredibly easy to overeat

It depends. I have IBS and if I overeat, I feel horrifically bloated and spend the whole of the next day farting. So I'm sort of physically prevented from overeating. What happens in reality is I don't quite have enough dinner, then have a slice of toast at midnight...

silverystream · 16/07/2019 16:14

Its, what I mean is it is if it becomes your habit. Like if snacks become a habit. I personally lose my appetite later in the evening. I really struggle to eat my food if we go out to dinner beyond 8 o'clock because I'm just not used to eating at that time.

silverystream · 16/07/2019 16:16

Yet when I stayed with my Dad he brings snacks out at about 10. At first I couldn't eat them but then I did, then I anticipated them. At home I stopped again but at first I fancied eating them.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 16/07/2019 16:19

Its, what I mean is it is if it becomes your habit.

Yes - though I think a lot of people lament "it's just how I am" about things that are just routines and habits, like eating, being tidy, etc.

I used to overeat and was always bloated. When I started dating my partner years ago, I was terrified of being gassy on our dates, so I only ate half of the dinner portion. Also I was nervous because, y'know, new relationship and butterflies and all that. After about a month, I got used to it and lost weight. I'd struggle to eat my old portions now.

fancynancyclancy · 16/07/2019 17:09

But no-one will ever acknowledge that there are quite a few of us who are very slim but don't live on cigarettes, coffee and cotton wool

Who didn’t acknowledge? I think people are confusing slim & very thin. Plenty of the models I knew were slim naturally, eg a size 8 but had to restrict to be a size 4. Also I was short at 5ft 9, most were taller than me.

TartanTexan · 16/07/2019 17:14

Anyone here find they were model slim until mid/late 20s (?) despite eating whatever they wanted (including junk food) and taking no real exercise?

My metabolism seemed to change by early 30s & I now I have to work incredibly hard to stay in a healthy zone, as I never gave food/exercise much thought a complete mindset change is needed.
