One of life's simple pleasures.

YABU.

Pasta is slimy and slippery and vile and disgusting.

Quintella · 13/07/2019 18:24

I like pasta well enough but only want to eat it once a month or so.

Annabk · 13/07/2019 18:24

YANBU. And if you buy wholewheat pasta you can feel virtuous Halo

Quintella · 13/07/2019 18:25

I mean it's fine, but it's no potato!

Zaeem5 · 13/07/2019 18:25

Well it depends what it’s with Confused

Do you eat it plain OP?

midgeland · 13/07/2019 18:26

YANBU but I'm fairly certain pasta is why I'm fat.

lazylinguist · 13/07/2019 18:26

YABU. Pasta itself doesn't even taste of anything. It's the sauce that's good.

Loladisco · 13/07/2019 18:27

YANBU. Is there anything finer than a pasta mountain for tea? No.

PizzaTaste · 13/07/2019 18:27

Jem how on earth are you cooking your pasta?

22Giraffes · 13/07/2019 18:27

Love pasta! It's so versatile, coming a close second to the potato of course!

Signhereplease · 13/07/2019 18:27

YABU spend another £2 & get Seeds of Change Spinach Pasta.

Evilmorty · 13/07/2019 18:28

With cheese.
With pesto.
With tuna.
With chorizo.
With chicken.
In a lasagne.
In a soup.

There is nothing it can’t do.

chemenger · 13/07/2019 18:30

Pasta and pesto, the ultimate comforting cupboard standby meal.

Aprillygirl · 13/07/2019 18:34

YANBU. It's the most versatile and delicious of foods, and kids just love it! Also great for hiding vegetables, that they won't usually eat, in the sauce. I could happily eat it with a bit of butter and garlic yum.
@Jemima you're overcooking it.

Candymay · 13/07/2019 18:39

I always feel so guilty giving the kids a simple pasta meal. It’s cheap and effortless but somehow makes me feel guilty. I’m realising this is ridiculous as I’m writing this.

SilverySurfer · 13/07/2019 18:43

Slimy, tasteless globules - boak, I hate the stuff.

Don't tell me I am not cooking it properly - I have tried every which way, including cooked by other people and it remains slimy and tasteless.

Crustaceans · 13/07/2019 18:49

GF pasta (which is what we have in this house) is neither 50p nor a complete joy. 😂

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 13/07/2019 18:50

We practically live off pasta thanks to kids who won't touch potato based food. Thank God for all the different types 😂

BertieBotts · 13/07/2019 18:52

YABU you need to spend more than 50p to get nice pasta. Pasta is awful, slimy and tasteless at the best of times but the really cheap stuff is the worst.

It's the sauces which are nice. I agree.

This. Every word I would literally rather not eat than eat pasta.
When we were in Italy DH made me have some "real pasta" still the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten.

MaxwellMouse · 13/07/2019 18:53

I've just had it with sea salt and black pepper with a smidgen of butter, a chopped fresh tomato and some chives. Delicious!

MaxwellMouse · 13/07/2019 18:54

I will try that @Signhereplease thank you.

ghostofharrenhal · 13/07/2019 18:57

@MaxwellMouse that sounds lovely. My Italian neighbour taught me a really simple sauce for pasta, just sage fried in hot butter and a splash of olive oil, delicious.

hopefulhalf · 13/07/2019 18:58

YANBU food of the gods.
I am yet to find a pasta dish I don't love.
I try to limit myself to twice a week and only 100g dry weight. I often fail on both counts. Can't stand potatoes.

ghostofharrenhal · 13/07/2019 18:58

I can't understand how anyone can live without pasta, I eat it several times a week.
