One of life's simple pleasures.

Love pasta with cheese but much prefer white stodgy boiled rice. Stodgier the better. On it's own.

starzig · 14/07/2019 19:24

You are talking through your arse mooncup.
All diets essentially work the same. Stop eating stuff meaning less calories.

MysweetAudrina · 14/07/2019 19:50

I have been enjoying new potatoes with butter, salad and a meat each day for the last few weeks. I do like pasta, especially with prawns or carbonara but I really don't think you can beat a new potato.

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/07/2019 20:04

MysweetAudrina new potato’s are the worst of all the potato options.

Pasta is food of the Gods. I’m not hungry but I’ve had a shit day so I might make some anyway. With butter, feta, black olives and sundried tomato’s is my quick go to. Maybe with grated cheddar as well, lots of salt and pepper. Yum.

I love all the carbs though. But they don’t suit me ☹️
And they don’t make everyone fat (though they do make me fat) this week’s The Food Programme on Radio4 is a good intro to the new research into the microbiome and how hopefully in future diets can be tailored to us - we don’t all react the same to the same things

CalamBalam · 14/07/2019 20:06

I love a really good lasagne and I also like proper ravioli but other than that I can happily go months without eating pasta. Nice enough but way overrated.

EdWinchester · 14/07/2019 20:11

I go months without eating pasta, but I do love it.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 14/07/2019 20:13

Meh, I love pasta and eat it quite often. I am not and have never been fat.

I tried doing a low carb diet once and I had to stop because I felt like utter shit.

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/07/2019 20:24

@HugsAreMyDrugs I wish I was that way. I feel so much better low carbing it clearly suits my body, but I love pasta/potato/rice/bread so much😬

Leftielefterson · 14/07/2019 20:37

I could eat it daily OP - the best thing since sliced bread. My DD of 9 months also approves.

applepieicecream · 14/07/2019 20:43

Pasta is my most favourite food ever. I am amazed at the pasta haters here. Potatoes, I can take or leave, if I never ate another potato again I couldn’t care less but pasta, any kind makes me very very happy

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/07/2019 21:21

Yeh I made cheesy pasta. Fat but happy.

Siameasy · 14/07/2019 22:04

I can’t eat pasta either Buffalo. Wish I could. The starchy carbs make me fat but I know people who aren’t affected.
The problem I have with starchy carbs is I find them very easy to over eat and they aren’t very filling for me-in fact they only serve to make me more hungry the more I eat of them.

Bloodybridget · 14/07/2019 22:09

Pasta is wonderful. But it is really worth buying better quality, if you can. Have decided I want pasta for supper tomorrow.

AuntieMarys · 14/07/2019 22:13

I cooked it so much for the dcs, I rarely eat it now. Maybe once a year.

itsabongthing · 14/07/2019 22:34

YANBU because too many carbs make me feel shit.

But it is a handy kids meal...

choirmumoftwo · 14/07/2019 23:22

Use it a couple of times a week here and it's been a lifesaver for DD with a new diagnosis of coeliac. She can barely tell the difference between ordinary and gluten free and we can all share the same quick midweek meal. Her version isn't 50p though!
