One of life's simple pleasures.

Yanbu.

I love pasta, a jar of tomato pasta sauce, and a load of grated cheese. It's so quick a delicious.

I also love making pasta dishes with bacon, ham, mushrooms.

Iggly · 13/07/2019 21:33

Cheap pasta is rank.

I only buy decent stuff when on offer.

Decent pasta tastes lovely on its own

Idontlikeshopping · 13/07/2019 21:34

Not to mention lasagne.

Iggly · 13/07/2019 21:36

I do love potatoes and rice though.

Brown rice got me through my first trimesters in pregnancy.

Jacket potatoes are awesome and versatile. For example, smoked mackerel with butter and mustard in a jacket potatoes = NOM

BarryBarryTaylor · 13/07/2019 21:36

Have to agree potatoes are a tier above pasta. Pasta is good enough, but a spud. They are heaven

CharityConundrum · 13/07/2019 21:48

For the coeliacs sufferers here - have you tried Morrison's brown rice penne pasta? It's by far the 'springiest' of the MILLIONS I have tried whilst experimenting with my coeliac toddler and actually feels most like 'proper' pasta out of all the ones we've tried.

DontCallMeShitley · 13/07/2019 21:55

Not the cheap pasta, it is not nice, and for some reason it tastes of cinnamon if it is cheap.

I buy the really nice Italian pasta. Serve it with chopped fresh garlic, olive oil and some peas, or roasted tomatoes, something simple.

Also buy the green pea pasta and red lentil pasta for a change.

crispysausagerolls · 13/07/2019 21:57

PASTA IS THE BOMMMMMBBBBBB ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love pasta. preferably just with butter & garlic
great stuff.

MindyStClair · 13/07/2019 22:01

Cheap pasta is joyous, lovely comfy carbs with marmite and butter.

Fresh pasta is delicious.

Gnocchi is truly divine.

Deadringer · 13/07/2019 22:04

Meh.

NeckPainChairSearch · 13/07/2019 22:38

It’s basically flour and water, with damn all nutritional value and no taste at all

I'm not disagreeing with you about good potatoes and rice, but this is an unenlightened view of pasta Grin

I make my own with really good flour, egg yolks from our chickens and some inherited bronze dies. That's what I grew up with.

Pasta can be dreadful, but it can be wonderful as well.

CandyflossKid · 13/07/2019 22:39

I'm on a low-carb diet so yes, it is indeed food of the Gods that I cant indulge in unfortunately

BertieBotts · 14/07/2019 11:07

SPB :o :o

I always think carbs are the worst of the food groups TBH. All bland and tasteless.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 14/07/2019 11:14

The best pasta is Barilla

Followed by the more widely available Rummo (made in the same factory as Barilla)

Then De Cecco

BlueSkiesLies · 14/07/2019 11:16

I could eat pasta every day 💗

sheshootssheimplores · 14/07/2019 11:18

If it weren’t so fattening I would 100% agree

NaomiFromMilkShake · 14/07/2019 11:19

Overcook asparagus (slightly) blitz with garlic butter and parmesan add double cream. Serve with pasta. Ommmmmmmm nommmmmm

NaomiFromMilkShake · 14/07/2019 11:20

Garlic salt even.

EllieMentry · 14/07/2019 11:20

I really don't like pasta, and pasta doesn't like me (stomach aches after eating it).

I haven't eaten it for years and don't miss it at all. It's just stodgy paste to me, although I suspect I'm unusual...

BertrandRussell · 14/07/2019 11:24

Cannelini beurre blanc
My current favourite pasta dish Although it’s a bean dish too.

Rainbunny · 14/07/2019 11:45

I only want pasta once in a blue moon but when I do there is nothing more satisfying than spag bol (lentil bolognese and vegetarian parmesan). Also spaghetti with butter & marmite is divine.

longwayoff · 14/07/2019 12:04

YABU is a packet of bellyaching nastiness, as is its cousin, the noodle.

feelingverylazytoday · 14/07/2019 12:08

Pasta isn't just carbs, it also has protein (from the flour), it's fine with a bit of meat or cheese added.
Wouldn't associate 'joy' with it though. It's one of those things I eat when I'm poor to fill me up, rather than something I actually enjoy. I prefer bread, potatoes and rice ahead of pasta.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 14/07/2019 12:11

YABU
the £1.55 De Cecco stuff is what you want. I know it's 3x more expensive, but the extra quid is beyond worth it. Or stock up when it's on offer for a quid.
