Do you mean like this one @MaxwellMouse ?

If so, then YANBU, they are lush!

Pasta makes you fat

BigRedLondonBus · 14/07/2019 13:18

Don’t like pasta and neither do my kids

lazylinguist · 14/07/2019 13:30

Pasta makes you fat

No, eating too much pasta (or too much of anything calorific) might make you fat. Plenty of people eat pasta and aren't fat.

BertrandRussell · 14/07/2019 13:31

It’s not pasta that make you fat- it’s wht you put on it.

SinkGirl · 14/07/2019 13:35

sage fried in hot butter and a splash of olive oil, delicious.

This over fresh spinach and ricotta tortellini is my favourite meal on earth.

SinkGirl · 14/07/2019 13:37

I don’t understand people saying it’s slimey - I’ve never had pasta that’s slimey? Maybe if you cook it too long and it’s cheap stuff... maybe.

But good quality fresh egg pasta isn’t even slightly slimey.

Gnocchi on the other hand, I can’t get my head round, even in amazing restaurants in Italy, I can’t enjoy it.

Siameasy · 14/07/2019 13:54

Yabu it’s makes me bloated and fat. I don’t eat it any more. Used to be obsessed with it but it’s just not worth it for me any more

mooncuplanding · 14/07/2019 16:22

That is actually untrue

If you ate the creamy cheesy sauce or the meat bolognese sauce on its own without pasta, it would not make you fat. Refined carbs make you fat

BertrandRussell · 14/07/2019 16:23

“Refined carbs make you fat”

Calories make you fat.

NeckPainChairSearch · 14/07/2019 16:33

Refined carbs make you fat

Statements like this are so unhelpful in so many ways.

I'm not sure you're displaying a particularly nuanced understanding of nutrition, to be brutally honest...

megletthesecond · 14/07/2019 16:55

Yanbu.

TheDarkPassenger · 14/07/2019 16:55

I loveeee pasta (mines a £ tho as it’s gf)

I’m also a size 8 so no, pasta does not make you fat, eating too much makes you fat

PuppyMonkey · 14/07/2019 17:02

I loathe all pasta with the exception of the thin lasagne sheets. I can’t eat the fusilli type shaped stuff, penne whatever, fresh, dry, shat from a unicorn’s bottom makes no difference. The texture makes me gag, I can’t stand it.Sad

mooncuplanding · 14/07/2019 18:32

The irony of that statement

NeckPainChairSearch · 14/07/2019 18:34

The irony of that statement

Do explain.

mooncuplanding · 14/07/2019 18:47

Calories in calories out, the theory you subscribe to, isn’t demonstrating a particularly nuanced understanding of human metabolism

I know you won’t bother reading or watching but...🤷‍♀️

I enjoy pasta but I have to say it is still not a patch on a potato!

maddiemookins16mum · 14/07/2019 18:51

Meh, pasta is pretty much a cheap tea in this house, nowt to get that excited about.

NeckPainChairSearch · 14/07/2019 18:55

Calories in calories out, the theory you subscribe to

How do you know which theories I subscribe to?

ghostofharrenhal · 14/07/2019 19:05

Pasta only makes you fat if you eat too much of it. I eat it several times a week and am not fat! I do weigh portions though.

TruJay · 14/07/2019 19:09

I like pasta but I don’t LOVE it. My favourite way to eat pasta is literally plain with a sprinkling of salt. I also love it uncooked and like crunching away on it but my dh doesn’t allow me to anymore as it gives me awful belly ache, I sneak the odd raw piece while I prepare it for myself or the kids.

The thought of a pasta bake makes me want to throw up though, I’ve never eaten one though so I am unreasonable for that, it’s more the appearance and what I perceive the texture to be like that makes me unable to try it.

My children also adore it plain, no sauce at all. Dd is autistic and cannot stand any sauce, ds is awaiting assessment and will tolerate some sauce - he likes ketchup and gravy but pasta has to be plain, no pasta sauces at all. He will have tomato soup on it though 🤔 I highly suspect I am autistic too, the more I have learnt with having autistic children the more I recognise in myself especially when it comes to food and sensory issues.

Sorry, that was awfully long and went off on a tangent!

So to sum up I like pasta but as some PPs have said Potatoes are sent from heaven itself.

HarryDaylight · 14/07/2019 19:13

I'm not fat and love pasta, and happily eat it two or three times a week.
