To ask what a classy tattoo is?

Ok, please don’t shoot me down this is an honest question from an obviously out of touch person. ( name changed obviously)
But what the hell do people mean when they say that a tattoo is classy or amazing art work??
I see them everywhere but have never seen anything that I would say was attaractive on flesh.
They are various degrees of quality of art work yes but classy nope.
On another thread people were saying they had high quality tattoos but what does that even look like? Surely to anyone judging a tattoo is a tattoo I e a permanent mark on your body?
I would assume people like David beckham and Robbie Williams must have the higher quality tattoos? Basic As they have the money ? But to many people they would be judged poorly in a few real life settings. I would not personally say I like the look.
Sorry but pondering the consequences of not being aware of a difference and wondering if judgments are being made on artwork quality Within the tattooed population and the non tattooed are just judging any tattoo?

Tattoos of the Royal Family

I met a woman a few years ago who had what I can only describe as a watercolour scene tattooed on her arm. It was beautiful, pastel colours etc. Apparently she’d had to go to a specific artist in South America to get it done.

Even if a tattoo is artistic and well done, I always think the person would look better without it.

Loads of tattoos are classy. I found a few on google.

If by classy you mean stylish and sophisticated. I guess a tattoo of a dick on your thigh would not be classy, I suppose. I saw that on Tattoo Fixers. But stylish and sophisticated are in the eye of the beholder. Unless it is a tattoo of a dick on your thigh.

Just because something isn't classy doesn't mean it is bad. You can embrace it for what is positive or meaningful about it, instead of trying to claim it is something it's (probably) not.

Arguably, 'classy' and 'sophisticated' aren't in the eye of the beholder. They're fairly fixed. 'Beauty' definitely is, as is 'stylish'.

After my husband died, I had his birthdate tattooed in Roman numerals. It’s in a spot that nobody will ever see unless I show them. No idea if it’s classy (hate that word) but I like it

I have one of Frida Kahlo. She’s a classy person so I consider it a classy tattoo.

I teach with an arm sleeve, my students appreciate it and like them. It opens up discussions about Frida, Bowie and certain indie films. It’s an ice breaker and conversation starter and has not held me back career wise. They look good on me, they suit me.

Some tattoos are incredibly well done and intricate but a tattoo, no matter how well done, is never classy.

I have just one tattoo and several piercings....not once did I think "ooo, that will make me look classy". It wasn't what I was going for

Some people dont like tattoos....personally, I think make up and high heels look daft....each to their own

That's not the same as saying tattoos are bad.

What is considered amazing art work depends on what the person likes, like artwork in a gallery. For me, it's how the artist works with the anatomy of the person being tattooed, the attention to detail, the colours, the placement. Some tattooists are better at portraits, some are better at intricate geometric designs, some are excellent at lettering.

One that is well designed, artistic and the artist has thought about how it will look on the client's body shape.

I also think the classy (hate that word) tattoos aren't driven by trends as trend based tattoos tend to date easily.
