And why?

I'm gravitating towards Storybrooke from OUAT

Great post, corythatwas. And completely true.

SoupDragon · 12/07/2019 14:43

The place where (beyond the fighting) magic does nothing more exciting than you'd get with a clever remote control.

Oh, I don't know. The instant travel via Portkey or Floo powder would be so useful.

MissClareRemembers · 12/07/2019 14:43

44 Scotland Street might be quite good, too.

Davros · 12/07/2019 15:43

The other thing about Ambridge is that no-one is fat, maybe homely or cuddly at most. The older women are all capable of being glamorous at the drop of a hat. That's from Elizabeth up to Jennifer and beyond.
The other great place is Wakanda (not Wadiya!)

MissClareRemembers · 12/07/2019 16:02

@Davros they’re not fat because they exist on a diet of nothing but soup! 😁

Panticles · 12/07/2019 16:11

St Mary's Institution of Historical Research

Penners99 · 12/07/2019 17:06

In the world of Lazurus Long. Long life and star travel

SurferRona · 12/07/2019 17:37

The Magic Faraway Tree. REALLY showing my age there Grin or Ambridge. I could struggle by in a wing in Lower Loxley Grin

AzraiL · 12/07/2019 17:47

Harry Potter World.

The world from Kiki's Delivery.

Service or Howl's Moving Castle.

The Downtown Abbey universe. (would obv. be filthy rich).

The Enchanted Woods.

Maybe a Jane Austin novel but as me, not one of her characters (again, as someone rich).

When I was a kid I reeeeally wanted to live in the animated Punky Brewster world or with the Care Bears in the clouds.

LakieLady · 12/07/2019 17:49

3**@Davros** I'd prefer the Aldridges old house, with its mega-luxurious kitchen and swimming pool, or Lynda Snell's. I wouldn't do B&B though.

I wouldn't want to live at Lower Loxley, I wouldn't like the public milling about.

I bet Grange Farm was lovely after Caroline had done it all up.

foxyknoxy30 · 12/07/2019 17:49

The Gilmore girls town

sqeakywheel · 12/07/2019 18:04

28 Barbary Lane. I would probably be Mary Ann Singleton as I'm really square. I just love the world Armistead Maupin made. I love Anna Madrigal and Mouse and Jon Fielding.

sqeakywheel · 12/07/2019 18:15

Phineyj I thought it was just me!!Grin

IvanaPee · 12/07/2019 18:17

@zukiecat
I quite fancy being Mother Heggie with my pet raven, in my wee cottage

Me too!
Five. Always five!

Stripyhoglets · 12/07/2019 20:07

Harry Potter - would amazing!

crankyassnoperope · 12/07/2019 20:19

The Culture! I can't believe more people haven't said it; the perfect mix of drugs, sex, intelligence and bad-assery with added machine technology and the complete degeneration of sex roles and gender stereotypes. Lord let me go to sleep and wake up in the Culture!

Unfinishedkitchen · 12/07/2019 20:29

Lyra’s world in His Dark Materials. I want a Daemon. Not sure what form it will take though.

SciFiScream · 12/07/2019 20:48

I'd live on the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D or E under the command of Capt Jean-Luc Picard.

Jamsangwich · 12/07/2019 20:50

Tad Williams' Osten Add, more specifically in Aldheorte forest with the sithi.

Or Kelsingra in the Rain Wilds (Robin Hobb) as an elderling dragon keeper.

When I was tiny, my answer would have been "Where the wild things are" by Maurice Sendak

SciFiScream · 12/07/2019 20:56

Or Pern but only if I can be a Gold Dragonrider when Robinton is the Harper.

I'm so excited to find all these fellow Pern/TNG/LOTR/Marvel fans. (I like the Crystal Singer's galaxy too and the Ship who sings) ooo and maybe Arrakis after the rain falls... (I can't spell Kquisats hadderach!)

My heart belongs to all those realms.

WoollyMummoth · 12/07/2019 20:59

I’d get rid of Gabrielle and become Xena, warrior princess’s sidekick.

RandomNameChange415 · 12/07/2019 21:00

This thread has taught me something new about myself. However much I love Jean-Luc Picard, or appreciate Banksy’s utopian political vision in the Culture, my entire being revolts at the thought of living on a spaceship. As a longtime space opera fan, it never occurred to me that I felt this way until I tried other posters’ suggestions on for size and found myself shuddering.

BjornAgain81 · 12/07/2019 21:29

As a bloke, the fantasy world featuring the patriarchy sounds like it would serve me well (dons armour). Grin
