And why?

I'm gravitating towards Storybrooke from OUAT

Definitely Discworld for me. Probably Ankh-Morpork. Although some of the warmer countries sound nice too.

Otherwise, maybe Risa.

Teddybear45 · 11/07/2019 15:47

North of the Wall

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 11/07/2019 16:05

The Pokemon world!

GMtoBe · 11/07/2019 16:09

Pop Larkin's farm from the darling buds of May

Phineyj · 11/07/2019 16:14

Gosh, so many good ideas here but I think overall it'd have to be 1970s San Francisco with Mary Ann, Michael, Brian, Mona and Mrs Madrigal. I'd finally have the right kind of hair!

Storybrooke.

zukiecat · 11/07/2019 17:39

Also maybe Bernard Cornwell's Anglo Saxon world in The Last Kingdom

Or Jean M Auel's pre-historic land in the Earth's Children series of books

Davros · 11/07/2019 17:40

How about Ballamory?Grin

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 11/07/2019 17:43

Rose Cottage in Nangiyala (from the Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren) or Hogwarts. I could be a teacher, or house mother type person.

BalthazarImpresario · 11/07/2019 18:46

For me it would be in the Nintendo game Animal Crossing. Pay off your mortgage catching bugs, no real threat other than a shady fox selling dodgy art or the odd bee sting.

ddl1 · 11/07/2019 18:55

Dictionopolis or Digitopolis in 'The Phantom Tollbooth' or the Four-Storey Mistake from Elizabeth Enright's Melendy books.

happygiraffey · 11/07/2019 19:14

@Mumberjack definitely! They seem to have strong family units in Sylvania which I suppose suggests they're too nice to fall out with each other 😂 the worst thing I can imagine happening is a baby rabbit knocking over a flower stand!

RandomNameChange415 · 11/07/2019 19:23

Hogwarts is hard to resist - there’s a reason JKR is a squillionaire. (Also points out how wrongheaded the “the later books could have done with a hard prune argument” is: there are millions of people who just want to spend as much time in that world as she’s prepared to give us).

Favourite that people haven’t said yet (I think) the Manhattan of Sex and the City.

Most wrong choice listed: Gone With the Wind.

pisspawpatrol · 11/07/2019 19:26

I think either the wizarding world in Harry Potter (but peaceful not during a war) or at St. Mary's from The Chronicles of St. Mary's so I could be an historian investigating historical events in contemporary time.

amusedbush · 11/07/2019 19:30

Either in the Potterverse or in Stars Hollow.

JennaOfEluria · 11/07/2019 19:31

Drenai as imagined by David Gemmell or The Territories as imagined by Stephen King & Peter Straub

ICouldntHelpButWonder · 11/07/2019 19:32

Ooh I'd be very happy in Pemberley with Mr Darcy

Londonmummy66 · 11/07/2019 19:33

Pemberley - preferably married to Colin Firth.................

VampirateQueen · 11/07/2019 19:36

Sorry missed the why bit. Storybrooke, because Rumple.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 11/07/2019 19:40

I want to be a scientist at Caltech

StumpyinSomerset · 11/07/2019 19:46

I want to live in Stonewylde too

@zukiecat as long as it's after Magus and not during his reign! I'd love to be a villager, not Hallfolk!

Or Jean M Auel's pre-historic land in the Earth's Children series of books
Yes! With the Mammoth Hunters! I love the sound of Talut!

PollyPocketLucyLocket · 11/07/2019 19:46

I'll join @whateveryousay over in The Enchanted Wood. A new land to explore every day, and picnics with lashings of food packed for me.

LakieLady · 11/07/2019 19:51

Another wannabe Ambridge resident here. I want to share a bottle (or two) of gin with Lilian Bellamy, pop into the tea room at Bridge Farm for tea and cake, take my turn as a volunteer in the village community shop, and take the piss out of Jennifer Alrdridge for her ridiculous snobbery.

sophiasnail · 11/07/2019 19:55

Shibden Hall, but I am afraid Ann Walker is going to have to move out again!
