Just randomly stalking on fb and clicked on an exes dad and sent a bloody friend request! Think I’ll have to leave the country.

Deactivated of course.

Please make me feel better with any of your stories? I know I’m BU! Blush

Not me, but my ex-boyfriend's sister has (clearly accidentally) liked one of my Instagram posts. So she has been having a nose!

TinyMystery · 09/07/2019 18:43

DH’s ex has accidentally added me and liked my instagram posts a few times. She also got her colleague to add me as a friend on Facebook... or he did it off his own back to get the gossip, I don’t really know! I didn’t accept as I know he works with her (we have plenty of mutual friends as move in similar circles but definitely don’t actually know each other), it’s a small local company so really obvious and weird.

In fairness to her, it was a messy breakup and I understand her morbid curiosity.

origamiunicorn · 09/07/2019 18:43

Typed the name and hit what I thought was search...typed in status update box rather than search blush so updated my status just with the name of the person I was stalking!

Oh God I've done that, it's mortifying. I remember the sinking stomach feeling and the blind panic to delete it. Blush

A few of my clients husbands/bf's creep my insta stories. I'd prob not even see it as anything if they were following my actual account but they don't, they actively look me up.

pisspants · 09/07/2019 18:46

I accidentally followed the new girlfriend of an ex - totally mortifying as I hardly follow anyone and I always get a notification when someone follows me.
Me and the ex hadn't even been together that long but was just being nosey!

ChocolateTea · 09/07/2019 18:49

I've had my ex husbands finance watch my stories and accidently like my Instagram stories so many times I ended up blocking her. We've been divorced ten years, they've been together 9, but she's obsessed with seeing what I'm doing and then trying to copy. Every now and then I unblock her and she starts watching everything again sk I reblock her

Davespecifico · 09/07/2019 18:50

I accidentally star rated the business of someone I’d made a complaint about. I couldn’t remove the star rating, so I upped it from 1 star to 5 so at least I could look like a benign stalker. It was intensely embarrassing and there seemed no way the star rating could be removed.

SolsticeBabyMaybe · 09/07/2019 18:50

And, very awkwardly, one of my male friends came up as an automatic tag on a photo of my child whilst DP was sitting right beside me!

Classic!

31RueCambon · 09/07/2019 18:56

These are great! tbh I think sending a friend request shows balls of steel. She was probably terrified.

Once after I was dumped by some guy I met online (no heartbreak, just no chemistry, but I think he imagined I was devastated), I realised a while later that I'd sent a friend request to some woman and I thought who is she, and I realised she was a friend of his! He had mentioned her actually and I think he assumed I was stalking his female friends in a jealous rage. Nothing could have been further from the truth, I think her name came up in a list of people you may know and from there I accidentally butt fingerly added her!

Shortly afterwards I realised that the two of them had blocked me! I noticed he had blocked me, and then I checked her and she had disappeared in to a puff of smoke as well.

I hope it stroked his ego god love him!

quitecontrary123 · 09/07/2019 19:02

I once shared an ex school friend's status and didn't realise until about half a day later when my husband quizzed me about it. It wasn't even a recent status so I had obviously been having a bloody long trawl through all of her posts.

AndTheSeaRollsOn · 09/07/2019 19:03

My cousin had just got married and I saw a group on Fb labelled wedding and the date plus lots of photos. Clicked on it and it then said ‘you are following’ and then I realised it was my ex’s wedding day and a mutual friend had created it. Was mortified, unfollowed quickly (ex’s now wife wasn’t comfortable with us having contact so we don’t!) and hope to this day no one got a notification! So wasn’t even intentionally stalking!

31RueCambon · 09/07/2019 19:05

@WednesdaySpinner it's awful when you know things you have to pretend not to know, it is the main reason I've stopped ''investigating''

@BiscuitDrama that made me laugh! tagging yourself in somebody's baby photo!

@amy56542589 yikes, I have done that, watched a clip on somebody's open settings. It never occurred to me that they'd get a notification!

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 09/07/2019 19:24

I was having a nosey of dp’s ex gf on Instagram and tried to zoom via double tapping which of course hearted the picture. Took it back immediately but presume she saw.

Consoled myself by telling myself everybody does social media stalking.

....right? Blush

TeeniefaeTroon · 09/07/2019 19:24

Not me but someone on my friends list. She thought she was on messenger and was filming herself topless and touching herself for someone who wasn't her husband, however she was actually on FB live. It took a while for her to realise and there were many screenshots taken by her 'friends' during this time.
I would've died if this had been me 😱😱

inthebackground · 09/07/2019 19:28

teenie

Oh. My. God

Freshprincess · 09/07/2019 19:41

I'm in a group with someone Who I kind of know but not that well.

I was having a small nosey through his profile and noticed that he'd checked in to a gym 10 minutes before. I clicked through to the gym, noticed that they had a photo of him and someone else muscles out and posing. I Forgot that I dont really know him and have never set foot inside the gym and I accidentally liked it. The photo had been uploaded literally minutes before I saw it. In my defence he's quite fit.

I unliked it and I'm hoping that he never saw me do it otherwise I'd come across stalky weirdo old woman he vaguely knows.

I have been know to delete FB off my phone when I'm out out, just in case.

RosesAndRaindrops · 09/07/2019 19:52

@CitadelOfScience
Yes, you can tell who's watched an Instagram story. I sometimes post them and you can swipe to see how many have viewed, and who.

hardyloveit · 09/07/2019 19:56

@TeeniefaeTroon that is horrendously mortifying!!! I can't even imagine seeing that haha!

BelulahBlanca · 09/07/2019 20:16

The first night out I went on post baby I drunkenly messaged my ex wanting an argument. When he didn’t reply I looked after his ex wife on FB but didn’t search her- just out her name as my status. Luckily it was so garbled I don’t think (pray and hope) not many people worked out who I was looking for.

BelulahBlanca · 09/07/2019 20:16

Hope and pray not pray and hope Blush

MindyStClair · 09/07/2019 20:25

I was moseying through the profile of someone I was at school with. Managed to click on their baby in a photo and tag it as being me.

Seriously cannot stop laughing at this!

scoobyd2 · 09/07/2019 20:42

Most of my random FB friend requests get sent as a result of me falling asleep with my phone beside me so I hit the screen in random places and send friend requests. First I know if it is when they accept... Fortunately none of them have any clue who I am and I don't use my real name on FB owing to a past stalker.
But then I also have a second FB account, totally unrelated to my (not real) real name, which I set up in order to stalk my stalker.... but even then I was paranoid I'd accidentally friend request one of his friends so I stopped pretty quickly. Hung onto the account though, comes in useful sometimes....

SynchroSwimmer · 09/07/2019 22:49

In the very early days of FBI, I opened an account secretly in my husbands name without telling him.

I needed it to stalk a secretly misbehaving partner of a very close relative who I cared a lot about.

My husband came in from work, logged on to his computer to do his work invoices and loudly exclaimed that “he had got a whole load of friend requests on FB - and he didn’t even have an account!” !! 😮

31RueCambon · 10/07/2019 00:04

I nearly had a facebook disaster earlier. I took a silly (but not rude) picture of my boyfriend who I work with. Everybody knows, I guess, but we do the whole, you leave three minutes after me charade. Anyway, I nearly clicked on a stupid photo of him and made it ''my story'' and that shit is stuck there for 24 hours! The last time I did ''my story'' it was an accident but this would have been way more embarrassing.

31RueCambon · 10/07/2019 00:05

@SynchroSwimmer oooh, wouldn't have enjoyed explaining that!
