So last Friday (10 days ago) I fell off a children's roundabout at work and got a few cuts.

This one on my foot was cleaned straight away and I've been cleaning it with TCP but it's getting worse, my whole foot feels bruised and like the skin is being stretched tight and hot to touch too. My lower leg aches.

I plan on seeing pharmacist tomorrow but noticed there's some red lines coming from the wound and when touched it's very tender, I've a few chronic health problems, not too worried as temp is 37.4 it's just so painful.

Anyone got any tips? Don't want to consult dr google and can't sleep with the pain. Feeling such a wuss.

Are you going back OP?

Those saying that many of us are scaremongering clearly have experience of Sepsis. My husband was seen twice by a triage nurse. He called 111 three times. It kept getting missed. Because early on it replicates other symptoms. By the time that your blood pressure suddenly drops, you are actually dying at that point. My husband was given a 20-30% chance of survival. It was absolutely touch and go. His kidneys failed. His lungs collapsed. His heart stopped. He ended up in a coma on a life support machine for weeks in intensive care. I had to explain to my five year old why he couldn't see his daddy for two months. I watched a happy go lucky boy become very intraverted and ask constantly whether his daddy was going to die. I've had to spoon feed him (whilst spoon feeding a baby), bath him, help him to walk again. I've worked with the Sepsis Trust to raise awareness and been interviewed by the BBC. There have been several drs and other medical professionals on this page who have seen the photos, listened to her symptoms, understand the complexities of a suppressed immune system. They have told her she needs IV antibiotics. Yes, she might be ok. But there is a chance that, without prompt medical assistance, she won't be. And the consequences could be catastophic. So, unless you are a medical expert or have real experience of Sepsis, it is wholly irresponsible to suggest that these posts are alarmist. And quite frankly it is insulting to those who have experience (medical or personal).

Do not. Not have.

FoxSquadKitten · 09/07/2019 15:44

Bloody hell, been lurking since the beginning and I'm delurking to join in with the chorus of CALL AN AMBULANCE. At least that way the paramedics will come and assess you, if they think you are ok, well no harm done, if you have sepsis then every minute counts.

Come on OP be brave 💐

MollyHuaCha · 09/07/2019 15:52

Hope you're ok OP. Thanks

Quandary2018 · 09/07/2019 15:56

OP I know you’ve been made to feel like a nuisance and hypochondriac at A&E but you really, really need to get yourself back there and tell them, repeatedly if necessary, about your existing conditions, the unsuitability of the antibiotics you’ve been given, the fact no blood tests have been carried out etc.
Write it down first so you don’t forget anything but please get back down there now if you haven’t already

Schuyler · 09/07/2019 16:09

@SilverTheCat OP’s autoimmune disease, her history of sepsis and her immuncompromised state puts her at a specific and different risk. Not all general medical professionals i.e. A&E staff or GPs have a detailed understanding of how this can affect you. This is no criticism of the staff, they cannot be experts in everything. Worsening infections in immunosuppressed patients need emergency attention in hospital, not at a GP surgery.

TigerJoy · 09/07/2019 16:11

I hope you're ok OP

jaseyraex · 09/07/2019 16:52

Oh my goodness OP, I hope you're okay and have been seen again or are at least in the process of being seen. Flowers

FoxSquadKitten · 09/07/2019 17:03

I hope you're in hospital @HCantThinkOfAUsername and not at your DM's in the middle of nowhere

Adoptthisdogornot · 09/07/2019 17:09

This thread is awful, OP I imagine you're feeling too ill to think clearly, too drained to fight for yourself. But you HAVE to take this seriously, your children need you and having you out of action for a period of time (or worse) is not an option. As another poster said, if this was your child you'd already be camped out in A&E. If not for yourself, do this for them. And they wont think you're a hypochondriac, you are very unwell and have real proper symptoms of real, proper illness. Please, please call an ambulance. If I were anywhere near you I'd be round yours pronto, OP this is serious.

iMatter · 09/07/2019 17:54

Wishing you well OP.

I hope you're being seen in A&E

justasking111 · 09/07/2019 18:06

That looks nasty, hope you get some relief soon

girlofthenorth · 09/07/2019 18:26

Just thinking if you have a temperature and infection you need someone to check your INR OP echoing what someone said earlier - so can you add that to the list of things to mention

MidsomerBurgers · 09/07/2019 19:06

Apologies to any triage nurses out there, but they are not as experienced or rigourously trained as drs.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this comment.

However, OP please go back to A&E again and don't let them fob you off.

Excited101 · 09/07/2019 19:23

Hope you’re ok op

Pud2 · 09/07/2019 19:26

Any updates?

gettofuckthrees · 09/07/2019 19:29

Just rtft. Sending love and strength to OP to stand your ground and continue to try and get this investigated. You are doing so well by keeping going back, do it again and don't leave until they bleed you. You need to know what's happening.

DragonTrainer3 · 09/07/2019 20:09

I work as a specialist Biomedical Scientist in microbiology, with 20 years experience, is that trained and professional enough?

That foot looks nasty, and I think that some overstretched SHO in A+E may have made the wrong call, especially since they didn't have all the facts. I would go back, insist on an FBC and CRP, and some blood cultures while they're at it, and tell the triage nurse that you're immunosuppressed (make sure it's written in your clinical details or your results won't be interpreted correctly.).

Then get them to put you on IV antibiotics asap, especially if it's spread since the oral ones.

Wildorchidz · 09/07/2019 20:13

Thinking of you OP and hope you’re getting sorted.

sleepingbelvi · 09/07/2019 20:20

Hopefully you are getting the treatment you need OP

MrsMozartMkII · 09/07/2019 20:36

Back hoping to see an update from the OP saying she's in hospital and being treated appropriately.

Everything crossed for you lass.

Pinkyponkcustard · 09/07/2019 20:38

Oh op this is awful. Plonk yourself in a&e and don’t move until they see you.

winepls · 09/07/2019 20:44

Just rtft. This is so concerning OP. I really hope you're ok xxx

OpenYourEyes · 09/07/2019 20:48

I hope you see someone who takes you seriously soon OP.
