To ask advice on this foot wound? (Pic included)

So last Friday (10 days ago) I fell off a children's roundabout at work and got a few cuts.

This one on my foot was cleaned straight away and I've been cleaning it with TCP but it's getting worse, my whole foot feels bruised and like the skin is being stretched tight and hot to touch too. My lower leg aches.

I plan on seeing pharmacist tomorrow but noticed there's some red lines coming from the wound and when touched it's very tender, I've a few chronic health problems, not too worried as temp is 37.4 it's just so painful.

Anyone got any tips? Don't want to consult dr google and can't sleep with the pain. Feeling such a wuss.

Ring 111 they will arrange ambulance or call ahead to correct department to make sure you are seen. Stop wasting time!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 09/07/2019 13:32

OP please, please listen to the advice here and call an ambulance now. Don't think for one second you're wasting time; you're not. Situations like yours are what the ambulance service is designed for, and why we all pay our taxes/NI. Phone them now.

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 09/07/2019 13:33

For people not local to South Pembs it is a 2 hour drive to Swansea (next nearest hosp) from where I believe the OP is now. It is not a minor task to get herself and 2 kids there.

Schuyler · 09/07/2019 13:36

Where are your kids now? Can you get yourself back to hospital? If not, please call an ambulance. This is an emergency and people call 999 for much less than this.

captainprincess · 09/07/2019 13:41

Have you got an up to date photo OP?

Mitebiteatnite · 09/07/2019 13:42

I'm fairly certain if you called 111 and answered their questions, the script would tell them they need to send you an ambulance. You must leave any details out, the vomiting and diarrhoea, the wound tracking, your medical history, the pain and swelling. How is your temp today, and your breathing? Does your pulse feel like it's racing? These are all crucial details.

Floralnomad · 09/07/2019 13:43

It really is irrelevant what is causing the D&V , if it’s the antibiotics then you need different ones and if it’s sepsis you need treating , so either way you are in need of urgent attention . I rarely say call an ambulance yet in this case I would . Best wishes OP

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 09/07/2019 13:46

I’m so angry for you, I understand how you end up in this situation because you’re made to feel like you’re wasting time and being dramatic, and the medics know best so you walk away but I always find that with myself and the children I instinctively know when it’s something more serious and I have to force myself to be more assertive. As ill as you must be feeling I think you need to do the same and insist on being seen again and keep going until you feel they’ve listened to you properly. Good luck and please keep us updated as and when you canSmile

Laiste · 09/07/2019 13:48

In my mind A&E is the big one, the last resort and the point at which i feel everything will be taken care of and i'll be safe.

I'm either naive or just very lucky i've never had an experience like the OPs. I'm finding it terrifying to think that you could place yourself in a Hospital's care and be fobbed off and left getting worse. I mean my head can't comprehend of who else to turn to!! Who else is there!? Just go back and basically collapse in front of them OP. They must realise how ill you are :(

Luckingfovely · 09/07/2019 13:49

Just rooting for you here. Staying at your mum's tonight without transport sounds like insanity to me.

Hope you are either back in hospital or on the phone to 111 or at the gp.

Keep demanding tests and don't let them fob you off; your health could be at serious risk.

Sending strength and good vibes.

DrPeppersPhD · 09/07/2019 13:49

I know how you feel OP, I often feel like a time waster whenever I go to the GP for my blood tests or my antidepressants, but you are not time wasting, you are very ill.
I would write down a bullet pointed list of what you've said here, how it's progressed, etc, your new symptoms, past cases of sepsis, medication and chronic condition, go back to A&E by ambulance if you have to and make sure they listen to all of it, you may need to be very forceful with them but you must make sure that you don't leave that hospital until you are admitted and taken seriously. Show them the photos you've shown us, but you need to be seen today.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 09/07/2019 13:56

@ContessaLovesTheSunshine yes withybush unfortunately - and through all this I've not had any blood tests so I need to get that done anyway.

I'll take an upto date pic now

Do you have any way to get to Glangwili, or even Swansea? I know it's a long way but I think you really need to find a different hospital; it sounds like you are being properly fobbed off.

clairethewitch70 · 09/07/2019 13:59

Please call an ambulance so the paramedics can assess you Flowers

Hairyheadphones · 09/07/2019 14:00

I feel so frustrated on your behalf, you are clearly very unwell and getting worse. Hope you get the help you need soon.

babysharkah · 09/07/2019 14:01

You need to be assessed. ASAP. Call an ambulance. Can you take someone to advocate for you?

frogsoup · 09/07/2019 14:02

I wasn't calling the op stupid, I was saying it was stupidity to not go back to a&e, and to plan on spending the night at an address in the middle of nowhere with no transport - not quite the same thing. I know what it's like to be made to feel an idiot by medical staff. I've had midwives telling me that a blood pressure reading of 140/120 was just me getting stressed rather than preeclampsia. If that happened again today I would go ballistic, at the time I was too meek and vulnerable to fight back. But meek or not, I did keep on going in,again and again, and playing the same broken record, until somebody listened. That is what op needs to do.

Laiste · 09/07/2019 14:05

Imagine this was one of your kids OP. You'd be up that bloody hospital and refusing to move until you made sure the HCPs understood properly and appropriate treatment was given out.

Nacreous · 09/07/2019 14:08

www.nhs.uk/conditions/sepsis/

Septic shock:

These can include:

feeling dizzy or faint
a change in mental state, such as confusion or disorientation
diarrhoea
nausea and vomiting
slurred speech
severe muscle pain
severe breathlessness
less urine production than normal – for example, not urinating for a day
cold, clammy and pale or mottled skin
loss of consciousness
Severe sepsis and septic shock are medical emergencies. If you think you or someone in your care has one of these conditions, go straight to A&E or call 999.

I think I'd be calling 111 at minimum and probably 999.

Write everything down so you have something to refer to/give to the doctor/paramedic.

SheldonSaysSo · 09/07/2019 14:10

Just read you haven't had bloods done. Being on Methotrexate this is the first thing that you should have had done. Please emphasise that you are on methotrexate, that it means you have a compromised immune system and infections can worsen quicker than in normal people. Sometimes you really have to spell it out to make sure you are taken seriously

SweatyYFronts · 09/07/2019 14:12

Op you have sepsis. If you don’t get it treated NOW you will die. It’s not often I’d say that to someone but in this case it’s true. You are practically dying right now.

If I was anywhere near you I’d come and get you and take you to hospital - and I don’t even like people that much!!

You need an ambulance. If you leave it another day you probably won’t be on here tomorrow updating.

gifdaft · 09/07/2019 14:16

Jeezo get to a doctor

coconutpie · 09/07/2019 14:17

You need to call an ambulance NOW. If you wait any longer you could die. That's how serious this is. You don't need to go to your mum's - you need an ambulance. If you go to your mum's instead it could be the last trip you make. Think of your DC. Get medical help.

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 09/07/2019 14:17

Delurking just to say OP, I am thinking of you and hoping that you get adequate treatment ASAP. I am shocked at the ignorance by the hospital towards your issues, especially when time is of essence. My husband had cellulitis on his foot a couple of years ago, he felt very ill. Our local hospital took this very seriously and had him hooked up to IV antibiotics very quickly. He recovered without issues.
All the best OP and hope you will get better soon Flowers

Laiste · 09/07/2019 14:18

I'm no where near Wales and i've no car. i'd go if i could.

This is very upsetting. I know just how serious this is because of my mum.
