A couple I work with are getting married. They are bog lovers of all forms of wildlife.

WIBU to give them this as a wedding gift?

I think Danny Baker is a bellend!

The reason I chose monkeys is because the bloke is always saying he wants a pet chimp (he wouldn't seriously get one, of course, it would be downright cruel.) and she has a thing for cuddly monkeys. I thought this would be a nice alternative.

Personally, I think they’re hideous. I’d rather have no present at all than one of those.

Karigan195 · 04/07/2019 13:35

Someone gave me one of them once. It sits in the spare room hidden away as I find it freaky as anything. I love all things wildlife too but not that!

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 04/07/2019 13:36

Yes. Yes, you would. NEXT!

Littleheart5 · 04/07/2019 13:39

Please do. That is brilliant.
I’d love it Grin

Hopefully you will take the advice of every person on this thread and not get it. Toys are so creepy!

sandragreen · 04/07/2019 13:44

I actually don't know if you are joking or not Grin

They are hideous HTH

AnneKipanki · 04/07/2019 13:52

I can see you are someone who gives a monkey !Grin

TherapistInATabard · 04/07/2019 13:53

Seriously, no!

NotAsDrunkAsYouThinkIAm · 04/07/2019 13:54

@FrancisCrawford You're absolutely right.

This one has a tail, and is a much more reasonable price.

I think these are absolutely horrible - who on earth would want to display them in their home?

CitadelsofScience · 04/07/2019 13:56

Every single picture shows an ABOMINATION that has come directly from hell.

When did normal wedding gifts become unfashionable?

foreverhanging · 04/07/2019 13:57

😳

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 04/07/2019 13:57

Please do this.

MauritiusDreaming · 04/07/2019 13:58

I would never be able to sleep again with any of these monkeys anywhere near my bedroom. Hahahahahahaha - getting married soon and I wonder if any of my guests are going to bring any wacko presents like these :) :)

NotAsDrunkAsYouThinkIAm · 04/07/2019 13:58

@CitadelsofScience I take your point, but they'll probably get 50 toasters and 800 tea towels... a monkey is less boring.

Unless you're quite sure they'd like it, it would not be a good wedding present. And very expensive for something that they may well hate. It's not something you'd automatically like if you're interested in wildlife; it's very 'niche' and unusual. If you're sure they'd like something wildlife-related, it would better to donate to the World Wildlife Fund in their name, perhaps including something like this: support.wwf.org.uk/adopt-an-orang-utan? If unsure, probably best to stick to more conventional wedding gifts.

Bluerussian · 04/07/2019 13:59

As well as giving them a cheque or something from their gift list, you could buy a pretty card with monkeys and other wild animals on it and customise it for wedding. A good compromise I think.

gamerchick · 04/07/2019 14:00

They're really cute and feel like you're holding something real life but they have a properly eye watering smell to them.

pigsDOfly · 04/07/2019 14:04

Not sure how their liking for wild life would lead you to think this abomination was an appropriate wedding present. It's an ugly monkey doll in a dress.

You do know that primates in the wild don't stick frilly dresses on their young, don't you?

That's got to be one of the creepiest doll type things ever and it's going to set you back £150. How could anyone resist?

Ellisandra · 04/07/2019 14:05

Those are all absolutely fucking hideous, and I would not thank you for it.

As to the “adoption” certificate (for a toy?) in a double barrelled surname? I assume that as they’re getting married, they’re not 7? So they’re too old to want that, surely?!

I think you’re lovely for trying to personalise the present, but honestly - sorry - I think you’re way off the mark with these monstrosities!

What about a years pass to the zoo or something like that? If you gave me the above creatures, I would regift them to you for a birthday. Totally hideous and expensive to boot!
