To want to put an obscenely low offer in for my dream house

piraterach · 02/07/2019 22:09

I know I ABU but a girl can dream.

My absolute dream house is in right move, it's been there since November. I absolutely in no way and never will be able to afford it (£800K Shock).

My poor little house is worth around £150K.

Any chance an incredibly cheeky offer would go through because some millionaire likes that I had the balls to do it??? Grin

OP posts:
HennyPennyHorror · 03/07/2019 00:08

My friend did this. Her dream house actually had a lot of issues including a flooded cellar....still on the market for almost a million. Her own house was worth 250.000 and she offered that!

She got laughed at but she's a trier! If you don't ask you don't get she said. No shame whatsoever.

Bluerussian · 03/07/2019 00:17

No harm in trying, op, but very much doubt you will be successful.

Monty27 · 03/07/2019 02:29

OP I get you're saying you know yabu.
Why though do you think it's ok take the piss out of vendors, even if it is a dream.
Not even nearly amusing. You seriously need a hobby. Hmm

WhatsInAName19 · 03/07/2019 08:08

It's an odd "dream house". I can see how it could be functional for some families and I don't know the area so maybe the location is good. But it's very...meh. There's nothing exciting or unique about it. Each to their own, I just genuinely don't get it with this one. My dream home would be rural, a beautiful old building with heaps of character and quirky original features, a cosy living room with a fire, reading nooks, a garden with an orchard and room for a donkey and some ducks. My friend's dream home would be a penthouse in New York. Certainly not my dream, but I can see why it's special and unique. I just can't imagine anyone describing the house in this thread when someone says "what would your dream home be like?"

HotChocolateLover · 03/07/2019 08:16

I think it’s a bit ‘meh’. I could take it or leave it really. Do love the face it’s got a sofa on the landing though. Do they just need to fill the space or do you get knackered walking up all the stairs!?? 😂😂

trixymalixy · 03/07/2019 08:34

All the lovely houses in Sheffield and that is your dream house?!?! Hmm

Don't like it sorry.

The great thing about this is that you don’t need to ‘get it’. As you say, it’s not your dream - therefore it really doesn’t matter.

Ijustwanttoretire · 03/07/2019 08:36

LOL the utility room is the same size as my living room.... but then I live 'darn sarth'....

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 03/07/2019 08:52

@JoJoSM2

Totally agree. I am not overkeen on it .
It has some redeeming qualities but nope , not for me.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 03/07/2019 08:53

Living in a 2 bedroom council house though I DO love the roominess of it all . Its huge (especially where the first staircase appears to have a huge landing and then other stairs going up)

Hoppinggreen · 03/07/2019 08:56

This is second house in Sheffield in that price bracket that has been posted about in a very disingenuous “what do you think?” way
Bit suspicious

EarlGreyofTwinnings · 03/07/2019 09:04

You don't buy a house for the carpet, it's a shell. It's not my taste, but I can see how you could make something with it. A modern house is not necessarily unattractive if done right.

Blue5238 · 03/07/2019 09:12

Holy crap that is hideous! I can't believe that could be anyone's dream house

YorkshireGoldFanClub · 03/07/2019 09:15

Good grief what a dull, beige, charmless, characterless house.

I wouldn't bloody bother!

DerelictWreck · 03/07/2019 09:19

I didn't think Sheffield had 850k houses

Why?

Troels · 03/07/2019 09:25

I think it may well be overpriced. One went for £499 recently, it was small, only three beds, but the garden is bigger and it's very close by.
here

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 03/07/2019 09:29

It's soullessly designed.

But on the other hand, you would have the actual souls of those children living in the creepy portrait to keep you company every night as you sleep with one eye open.

Justaregularmum · 03/07/2019 09:34

Sorry not sure where the op asked for opinions on her ‘dream home’.
The poor seller has had her house put all over an Internet forum and then had it slated - and opinions for which she didn’t ask for. I completely get it might not be to everyone’s taste but then nothing ever is. I often look at houses and think wow I’d never pay that etc but would I go to the sellers house and say it to them? No. Because I’m a nice person and not rude. Would I give constructive feedback if
I was viewing- yes. Honestly can’t believe some people and keyboard warriors. Would u say it to the sellers face?

Hoppinggreen · 03/07/2019 09:37

justaregularmum I wouldn’t worry about the “poor seller”, I think something fishy is going on here

JamaicaGinger · 03/07/2019 09:38

To be completely honest op I'd think you were not in complete mental health if you genuinely offered that. Having been through incredibly stressful times trying to sell property with a chaotic and irrational person involved (And other times with someone with genuine delusions promising to offer without even viewing etc) i wouldn't want any risk of that again so would not be interested in dealing with you at any point in the future! You might get a reputation among the agents as not to be taken seriously as well.

Ariela · 03/07/2019 09:57

We were living with parents, my house was sold and we had 50%+ deposit low mortgage requirement and wanted to move quickly. Property had been on the market for 9 months in a very slow market. We offered 3/4 the asking price, and it was accepted. House was definitely overpriced as it had lots of issues one of which being the 17 cats......not pleasant smell so I can imagine put off a lot of people. When we moved in there was a layer of grime along the walls and doors at cat height, similar at dog height...

We think our offer was only accepted because the vendor wanted to move to another area with her family and her house sale was holding up the proceedings. I don't think they'd had any viewers for weeks as it was a buyers market at the time.

Justaregularmum · 03/07/2019 11:16

Oow really hoppinggreen completely oblivious to stuff like that! I just thought how upset I’d be if it was my house!! 🤦‍♀️

LEELULUMPKIN · 03/07/2019 11:20

I wouldn't offer £1:50 for that monstrosity.

LaurieMarlow · 03/07/2019 11:25

I wouldn't offer £1:50 for that monstrosity

Oh fgs don’t be ridiculous. It may not be to your taste, but it’s a perfectly serviceable (if overpriced house).
