To think it’s selfish to sit on someone’s shoulders at a gig?

Watching Glastonbury highlights (very jealous) and tbh I’d be pretty annoyed to have my view blocked by someone sat on the persons shoulders in front of me.

Kind of like an I’m alright jack situation.

Or maybe I’d just be thankful a bottle of piss hadn’t hit me yet.

This has never pissed me off-there’s a lot of movement in the crowd anyway.

Luaa · 01/07/2019 18:58

It's annoyed me before. It's really selfish!

mabelmylove · 01/07/2019 18:58

Eh. Just move a few inches. No biggie.

MysweetAudrina · 01/07/2019 18:59

Probably one of the least annoying things at Glastonbury I would imagine.

IWantMyHatBack · 01/07/2019 18:59

Heh, I used to do this all the time, but only for 1 or 2 songs at a time.

thistimeofyear · 01/07/2019 19:01

Definitely selfish. Attention seeking. Really annoys me. I did notice that some of the tv coverage seemed to be ignoring them and not doing close ups. Usually someone in a bikini or strappy top who clearly fancy themselves. I actually think it’s really sexist as well as selfish

ReganSomerset · 01/07/2019 19:01

Depends. How short is the shoulder-surfer? I imagine that the vertically challenged otherwise struggle to see.

Poppkitty90 · 01/07/2019 19:02

It is selfish

insancerre · 01/07/2019 19:03

It’s very selfish
I hate it

Sparklesocks · 01/07/2019 19:03

Selfish, sometimes there’s no other space to move to!

dillusionaldog · 01/07/2019 19:31

"to think its selfish to sit on someones....." was the title i read. shoulders is very disappointing. Grin. there were about 10 other things that came instantly to mind that are far more unreasonable than that

KinkyHair · 01/07/2019 19:32

What?! Just move to the side slightly.

ohwellherewegoagain · 01/07/2019 19:36

Yep, I thought the same thing looking at the Glastonbury highlights. It really annoys me when someone does this. I feel sorry for the lifter, as opposed to the liftee. It's all so unfair, they get to take the weight, and have someone's bits in their face. Or perhaps that is the attraction. Anyhow, unless you are a little kid, when it is absolutely fine, I agree you are not being unreasonable at all. Glad the cameras are no longer zooming in, in sexist fashion. They still do this at Wimbledon - always a girl with long blonde hair and cleavage a plenty. I don't have a problem with picking out people - and especially not interesting people, but don't letch!

Mythreefavouritethings · 01/07/2019 19:38

It is selfish, and for the person saying move, good luck with that one, especially if you’re watching a headliner. You often end up wedged in for the duration.

poptypingchef · 01/07/2019 19:38

We had a couple of girls behind us a recent gig who spent the whole gig offering to put strangers on their shoulders because the ‘lift’ and could totally manage them Hmm

We wouldn’t have minded but every time they came down or (worse) dropped someone they landed on my poor friend who is tiny Sad

Oblomov19 · 01/07/2019 19:40

I don't like to see it either.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 01/07/2019 19:41

Yes, definitely. That and people who wait till the band starts to have a good old hour long catch up with their mates, at the top of their voices. Not always easy to move away from them due to the crush (plus you just end up next to another group doing the same).

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/07/2019 19:44

Selfish spoilt little princesses.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/07/2019 19:46

During Kylie yesterday there was a group of people dressed in pink, they may have been in drag, up on shoulders three abreast. I’d not fancy being behind them.

KinkyHair · 01/07/2019 19:47

Selfish spoilt little princesses

Seriously? They’re just having fun. You sound like a boring old fart to me.

thistimeofyear · 01/07/2019 19:54

Kinkyhair they are selfish. I don’t pay all that money to look at someone’s arse

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/07/2019 20:02

Maybe I am a boring old fart but I don't see why they are entitled to have more fun than the people standing behind them.

notdaddycool · 01/07/2019 20:04

Having been sat on, it’s selfish and can get a bit painful...

StroppyWoman · 01/07/2019 20:05

Not if it's children. Otherwise, yes, it's so attention-seeking and selfish
