Following on from this -it was just getting interesting. Someone posted about how Meghan called herself a feminist but hadn’t earned the title. I was interested to know how you earned the title- but the thread ended.

I think it would have been better not to have released the 2 partial photos of Archie. H& M should have just waited until Archies Christening & then release the Christening photos.

The Cambridge children’s faces were very clearly visible on the steps of the Lindo. They posed with George for ages and took questions. I remember all the papers the next day ran with that image of his little fingers poking out of the blanket as though he was giving his first royal wave. There was no attempt to conceal his face and turn him away as M&H were very obviously doing with little Archie in their photo shoot at Windsor.

Bluerussian · 02/07/2019 01:46

Slazengerbag: There is no way I would 'of' stood on the steps with a new born baby!

Why would you not have (not 'of') stood on the steps with new born baby?

Would you have felt dizzy? I don't like steep steps and if I have to go down them, I need something to hold onto.

No one is going to assassinate Meghan and Archie, she is much admired. Don't read ridiculous ridiculous Facebook and Twitter posts.
Without reading them, I can imagine how inarticulate they are - full of "would of", "shouldn't of" and "bored of".

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 02/07/2019 02:05

Off with all their heads, I say but actually if we’ve got to have a royal family (and apparently, we do) I quite like that someone like Meghan is in it now. Adds a bit of fizz to an otherwise pretty boring pool of pretty boring people. I hope she’s the first of many.

Also, can’t trmember who said it but upthread there was a comment about how she probably just doesn’t “get” the protocol of the British monarchy and how we as British citizens perceive that protocol. It is all totally fucking batshit and she’s not grown up with it, so I think she’s just doing her own thing without quite understanding how or why it’s pissing people off.

The Frogmore renovations are an irrelevance. I bet the Queen Mother spent more on gin and horses in a single year. I can’t be any crosser about them using public money to renevate a house than I can any the rest of it- Kate and her bloody boring clothes that cost £££, Princess Diana hosting lavish lunches for tabloid editors in Kensington Place Charles and his four quid a box biscuits, Prince Andrew titting about on a boat.... it’s all utterly mad, the cost of those reservations no madder than anything of the rest of it.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 02/07/2019 02:07

Excuse the typos- I’ve got toothache and am chasing the codeine dragon. Making typing a bit clumsy.

Slazengerbag · 02/07/2019 08:42

@Bluerussian I wouldn’t have stood on the steps because I could hardly stand. I had what’s classed as an easy birth with my first but I still had to shuffle to walk anywhere.

It doesn’t matter if people actually won’t do anything to Archie, threats were still made. People on here don’t even let their mil see their baby because mil gave them an evil look in 1992. It’s not a risk I would take.

LaurieMarlow · 02/07/2019 09:01

You can see the face reasonably well in the pic posted upthread. So all the guff about ‘obviously keeping him from the camera’ is the usual groundless bollocks.

BertrandRussell · 02/07/2019 09:05

What- this picture? With a face an’ all? Grin

Bertrand and Laurie, also known as Harry and Meghan? Wink

ElspethFlashman · 02/07/2019 09:13

What I can't get over is that she dumped her publicist telling her she was quitting her career after dating Harry for 4 MONTHS. Goodbye career! Don't need you anymore!

Seriously. This was in the October. She'd only been shagging him since July!

LaurieMarlow · 02/07/2019 09:15

Bertrand and Laurie, also known as Harry and Meghan?

Gosh you really are a sharp and original wit aren’t you. Wink

TBF I think it was the following October that she dumped her publicist, just before the engagement was announced? Although she didn't treat her very well, ending both their friendship and working relationship with an email from her lawyers.

ElspethFlashman · 02/07/2019 09:50

It was in the Tatler piece. It was actually her agent, my mistake. Gina Cowlthorpe-Something.

GlitchStitch · 02/07/2019 09:58

Sorry Elspeth you are right, it was the first October after they'd only been dating a few months, just before their relationship became public. Interview with the agent here where she also dispells the idea that she had no idea who Harry was.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 02/07/2019 09:59

Laurie, it was meant to be light-hearted. I appreciate that tone doesn't always translate. I guess outright rudeness is so much easier to achieve.

The Cambridge's come across as more respectful of the relationship between the public and RF. They do still manage it on their own terms but there seems to be more of an acknowledgement that give and take is required and if your job is literally Prince or Princess of the UK then there is an obligation to do certain things at certain times, whether you really want to or not. Imo one of those things is releasing proper photos and information. They do have a choice to either be completely private citizens and live like the Tindalls, or not.

I don't suppose PW really wanted to meet the total strangers outside of Kensington palace yesterday but he did it because it was important to those people, it was good PR and if your whole way of life is derived from public support, then there is a need to please the public. It's a small thing in exchange for all that lovely money and status.

Where I feel criticism of mm has been unfair is wrt her baby shower and engagement ring and spending on clothes, which although excessive is no worse than any other member of the RF. Also in her decision not to meet Trump. She isn't a politician or head of state and had no obligation to meet him. It would be nice if more members of the establishment chose not to pander to people who have behaved despicably.

So the tabloids are wrong, things people see for themselves are wrong and actual interviews with people who knew and worked with her are also wrong. The asking for evidence and then dismissing it is quite a pattern on MM threads. Some people really are trying to put her beyond reproach. She was her friend as well as her agent and when she tried to communicate with her for the last time she was sent a response from a lawyer, despite being on good terms and not having had any fall out at that point. A fair few people have stated that she has cut them off without a backwards glance when they no longer suit her image, but they are obviously all wrong and nasty and it's all made up.

Quote from the agent-

That was one of the last times that Gina would see her. 'She wrote a lovely email in October, a week before the news about her and Harry became public, saying that she was giving up her career and we had to terminate our contract

So she didn't still represent her for another year when they got engaged.
