Following on from this -it was just getting interesting. Someone posted about how Meghan called herself a feminist but hadn’t earned the title. I was interested to know how you earned the title- but the thread ended.

I was happy to talk about the feminist thing- not many other people wanted to!

"Cambridge’s spent 4 million doing up their KP apartment. For context."

Jolly good for them, they can afford it so why not? I don't grudge them any of that, it's just the way it is and I'm quite happy with my lot. The Cambridges are not arrogant or 'flash' with their wealth and possessions.

But you do grudge the Sussexes? I grudge the lot of them, by the way!

No of course I don't grudge the Sussexes, why would I? Most of the time I don't even think about them but I tend to like them well enough, from what little I know, at the moment. They really don't affect me and my daily life.

There's plenty of other threads criticising other celebrities.
Amanda Holden for example and MN deletes the thread for 'not being in the spirit of MN'

Oh..policing feminism again.

As well as ever more bitchery about a woman nobody on here knows personally.

God knows what you say about your friends behind their back.

BertrandRussell · 03/07/2019 16:27

Who’s policing feminism?

OP posts:
IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 03/07/2019 16:33

There was a thread last week about Amanda Holden. There have been numerous threads (rightly or wrongly) about which celebrity people dislike for no logical reason. There's a thread about Stormzy and misogyny going on right now.

Yet someone can say those threads are never here. Even when they are visible for all to see.

I do think MM is a feminist. For me there is no qualification necessary, only a belief in equality of opportunity. I liked IABUQueen's post and if M & H were entirely privately funded I would support their right to do exactly as they please. But they aren't and no one has complete freedom on someone else's dime.

BertrandRussell · 03/07/2019 16:45

“Yes yes we've heard about the simply lovely chat with a select journalist, Harry does what Harry wants. He doesn't seem to follow protocol does he”
Can I ask how you think he should have done it? What would the protocol have been?

I don't dispute that there are some crazies out there who hate mm. But that doesn't mean no one on MN can ever say anything critical about her.

I think it's awful that every aspect of her life pre Harry is poured over and slated. I believe her relationship with her dad and sister etc are entirely her business and none of ours. But her life (and Harry's) as part of the royal family is our business and when that lifestyle is publicly funded there will be opinions about it. She did freely choose to marry him and public interest is part of the deal.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 03/07/2019 17:02

Threads get deleted when they break site rules or get into libel territory. Whether they get deleted or not wasn't the issue - it was the denial that they exist on MN.

Of course.

MsMaisel, having a different opinion to you is not the same as lying Hmm.

'Not being in the spirit of MN' is the same as site rules being broken as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it comes under their personal attacks policy - you'd have to take it up with mnhq since I don't actually run this site.

Some of those celeb threads got very spiteful - they were a little bit more than not liking Jason Isaacs because he plays villains do well and you are being disingenuous to imply otherwise. Maybe mnhq didn't fancy getting sued - I don't know. But the point is that those threads did exist.

The royals are public figures, financed by the tax payer and the public is within it's rights to talk about their personalities, spending, behaviour etc. I would agree that delving into personal lives prior to joining the family is not acceptable.
