AIBU to not know what he wants to eat??

We’ve just got home after a day out. Dh is hungry(but didn’t say if)and grumpy. Gets up and opens cupboards and fridge. Sighs loudly and sits down again.

I asked(big mistake) if he was hungry and he says yes and there’s no food in the house. Fridge is full, freezer is full, cupboards are full. Apparently there’s nothing to eat because it all has to be assembled in some way.

So apparently I don’t do the shopping properly because there’s no instant food. (There is)

What the fuck is instant food? What should I be buying?? AIBU to have no idea and want to kill him?Angry

Ask him?

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:19

I did! He said I should do the shopping properly

Tell him no problem he can do it next time.

flobella · 30/06/2019 21:20

Tell him to grow up and make a sandwich. My five year old can make a sandwich.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:20

He said he doesn’t know and I should knowHmm

Does he mean things like ready meals do you think, or instant like pot noodles? Maybe he was hinting for you to make his tea!

SamBeckett · 30/06/2019 21:21

Is there bread in the house ? I dont think you can get much more instant than toast ,
Sometimes I hunt round the cupboards , fridge , freezer and cant find anything I want even though they are well stocked , but is because I dont know what I fancy .
If your DH is the same its tough luck !
DO NOT get up and make him anything

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 30/06/2019 21:27

LTB

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:28

There’s bread, wraps, rolls, ham, pepperoni, chicken, salad stuff, yogurts, a chicken stir fry, steak, cheese, bacon, sausages, eggs, fish cakes, veg and a ton of other bits in the fridge. Freezer is full, pizzas, chicken goujons, drumsticks, waffles, frozen chips, sausage rolls, and a million things I can’t think of. Cupboards full of tins too, beans spaghetti and all the usual bits.

But actually nothing like pot noodles or ready meals. Maybe that’s where I’m going wrong

@Whoopstheregomyinsides haha I might🤣

Tell him that as you are clearly incompetent he is solely responsible for food shopping going forward.

CinnamonCrumble · 30/06/2019 21:31

What a twat. He can do the shopping himself. Perhaps some baby food though? That's instant and it seems like the most appropriate food after that behaviour.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:32

@CinnamonCrumble he really is tonight. A total fucking twat

@LeekMunchingSheepShagger tempting🤣🤣 except he’d bankrupt us buying shite

Mine is the same. He can’t tell me what he wants but wow betide of what he fancies isn’t there...hangry man

Stravapalava · 30/06/2019 21:34

Hmm. He just wants to shove something in his mouth now, while the proper food gets ready. My DH would start some cheese on toast or something and then stand at the fridge eating slices of ham or get himself some crisps or something while he was waiting.

But your DH really shouldn't be saying such silly things to you because he's hungry. I like Cinnamon's idea of baby food!

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 30/06/2019 21:35

Yanbu. How can you want to have sex with such a helpless individual?

VimFuego101 · 30/06/2019 21:35

Why are you pandering to this idiot? A 4yo could make toast, a sandwich, or a bowl of cereal.

SamBeckett · 30/06/2019 21:35

LorelaiRoryEmily
If he considers pot noodles food then I pity his taste buds , though i like them occasionally

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:37

@Nextphonewontbesamsung because he’s very handsome🤣🤣 Won’t be happening tonight though!

I misread this initially as DS and was assuming a teenaged son. I was going to say give him £30 a week and tell him to buy his own junk.

But this is a fully grown adult human male you are sharing a bed with?

Wow. What a turn off.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:38

@SamBeckett that’s the thing, I’m not sure he does. I’ve never bought them and he’s never asked. I’m just confused!

Leeds2 · 30/06/2019 21:38

I bet he wants a pork pie.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 30/06/2019 21:39

I don't know but I find pathetic male helplessness such a turn off it outdoes the good looks thing.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/06/2019 21:40

@RoomR0613 yep a fully grown adult. Thankfully in pretty much all other respects he’s a great person. Totally weird when it comes to food though.

I know how he feels though - sometimes I get past the time when I'm getting a bit hungry and know I fancy making xyz. Then suddenly I'm ravenous and grumpy and can't make any decisions, and despite KNOWING I need to eat something and that eating something will make me feel better, I just walk around the house looking in the same cupboards over again and not actually wanting any of the multiple things I could eat. If I'm out at the time it's even worse - no shop has anything edible or desirable, and I get hungrier and grumpier and it's awful. It usually ends in tears, or toast, or something ridiculous. A month or so ago I found myself eating a block of frozen marzipan.
