I always went to music festivals with my dad (in his 50s) had way more fun than I would have with younger people.

monkeytimesthree · 29/06/2019 17:49

I think the whole thing is flawed to tell you the truth. Expensive (don't know many youngsters who have hundreds lying around for a weekend plus expenses) so the whole thing IS propped up by wealthy, predominantly white middle class people who can afford it. That's not racist to point it out. I couldn't think of a worse way to spend a weekend but I'm happy to watch on tv. Those days are over for me! Thanks for your opinions all! WineConfused

So people over a certain age should stop doing things they enjoy because a small minority of goady/jealous twats people think it's tragic? Oh, ok 🙄

dragonegg · 29/06/2019 17:51

Someone should tell 83 year old Michael Eavis that he's tragic. The OP said so.

Yinyen · 29/06/2019 17:51

Fair enough if you are a bit dull and not up for it. But I'm jealous as fuck.

BMW6 · 29/06/2019 17:53

Ageist.
Racist.
Misogynist.
Fool.

ShinyMe · 29/06/2019 17:54

I'm tragic obviously OP. I've got pink hair and sparkly gold glitter Doc Martens and I go to gigs (ON MY OWN!) and I'm 47 soon. I wouldn't go to Glastobury because it's far too big and busy for me, but I watch bits of it on telly.

whatkatydidalready · 29/06/2019 17:57

Just read the thread title to DH who is playing tonight (not at Glastonbury, but has in the past).

He laughed and said "Yep, that's about right" Grin

Harpingon · 29/06/2019 17:59

Kylie headlining says it all really, Its changed and is very corporate now, I wouldn't want to go to a festival where I was surrounded by children and might bump into my mum as a teenager.

Me too Blush My hair is designed and painted just for me Smile I have an eclectic collection of DMs. Never been to Glastonbury as I'm not a huge music fan (sporting events are my bag) — but high five to anyone there whatever your age Smile

I'm 52. And a chartered accountant. Someone pass the cocoa. And Hobnobs Shock

I find the whole of Somerset tragic. So many people with the greasiest hair ever and really shabby.

There’s not caring about bourgeoise conventions and there’s being dirty. They were all so grubby.

🤮

I don’t think some people go home from Glastonbury, I think they squat till next year.

Baritriwsahys · 29/06/2019 18:02

I would love to be there and I'm in my 40's 🖕🏻

I'm sat listening to Kylie now because the definitive collection release yesterday 👌

The most tragic thing on this thread is your OP.

Baritriwsahys · 29/06/2019 18:03

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

That is fucking amazing hair 🙌🏻

monkeytimesthree · 29/06/2019 18:04

@Harpingon exactly

@whatkatydidalready he would definitely know then! Grin

WHOA Nice Legs, that's fabulous! I do love rainbow things. In fact, a couple of summers ago I started making an utterly bonkers rainbow skirt. I stopped before I added a red tier, because I was so fed up of sewing ruffles and it is totally ridiculous, so it's sitting unfinished and unworn in one of my sewing boxes. But I might try and finish it this summer.

Kylie was meant to play 15 years ago has it got more corporate in that time that she's the face of corporate Glastonbury?

She's playing the legends slot - it was Johnny Cash who played that slot when I was there 25 years ago

QuaterMiss · 29/06/2019 18:07

Grin Most ridiculous thread of the day. The founder of Glastonbury, Michael Eavis, is 83.

FluffyBunnykins · 29/06/2019 18:07

Wow....so posts with racist undertones are permitted on here these days, but calling out that racism gets your post deleted. Good to know...

monkeytimesthree · 29/06/2019 18:08

Hardly @QuaterMiss think I've touched a big old nerve. Eavis is a rich man and the idea that Kylie playing the same slot as Johnny Cash is criminal. What a joke.

OP posts:
FluffyBunnykins · 29/06/2019 18:09

@howdyalikemenow I've already reported the racist post and received a response saying there's nothing wrong with it, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 18:09

YABU ... you’re as young as you feel.

Glastonbury is for everyone.

PJLove80 · 29/06/2019 18:10

Are you meant to drop everything you enjoy and lose an individual identity because you are a mum. I have been going to gigs and festivals since I was 16 and I am not going to stop until I can’t. My parents were at hacienda classical last weekend and danced the night away (in their late 60’s)

monkeytimesthree · 29/06/2019 18:10

@FluffyBunnykins not racist to observe the complete lack of diversity in crowd. Go back to your Chardonnay dear.

Poetryinaction · 29/06/2019 18:10

Any age at Glasto. Always has been always will be. I loved that about it at 18 and I can't wait to go in the future and see people of all ages. I'm now 37 and 100% sure I wouldn't stand out or look tragic. It's fun. Fun is allowed at any age.

PolkadotLollipop · 29/06/2019 18:11

The glitter face paint, ‘wacky’ leotards and as many selfies as you can shoehorn in is what gets on my tits about festivals now. #doingitforthegram
