I do think all the glitter is a bit hypocritical, given its environmental implications.

Loveislandaddict · 29/06/2019 17:33

I went to my first festival a few years ago, and loved it. Been to a couple since. Not camped, only have day tickets. I’m roughly the same age as Kylie.

Having the kids getting older and more independent gives you the freedom to do these things. Also, all the smaller festivals that have cropped up have made them more accessible to all.

At what age is it acceptable to enjoy listening to music then?

Very frustrated to see OPs racist views, I’m asian, I guess I better make sure I only go to see asian performers.

And Stormzy playing to a sea of white faces.

Your point being Hmm or should only non white people enjoy his music Confused

I’m not at Glastonbury as ds1 has football tournaments all weekend, we have went as a family before however.

prettywhiteguitar · 29/06/2019 17:39

Oh god no ! I love Glastonbury and have been many times since 1996, it is the best place and not just for young things.

I love it die it’s pure openness and the love of music, the surprise of finding something new you would never see normally. Surprise gigs, flat spicy cider Grin

Then there’s the deep meaningful midnight chats with your mates or total strangers round a fire putting the world to rights or discussing your feet hurting.

It’s totally inclusive, totally massive temporary party town for everyone and I wish I was there right now Star

scarbados · 29/06/2019 17:39

'Down with the kids'? Who gives a damn about that? We go to lots of gigs - in our 60s - and are to busy enjoying the music to care who thinks what about us.

LuckyLou7 · 29/06/2019 17:39

There's no age limit for festivals, for goodness sake. Personally I prefer to book a day ticket (my days of weekend camping and portaloos are behind me) but DH and I, and a lot of our friends, still enjoy a festival. Glasto is way too expensive and it's also very difficult to get tickets, but there are festivals virtually every weekend throughout the summer.

OP, why don't you book a tickets for a festival (stay in a hotel/B&B) and pretend to be 25 again? You never know, you might enjoy it.

prettywhiteguitar · 29/06/2019 17:40

For not die !

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 29/06/2019 17:41

Festival song WineGinCakeGlitterball

feathermucker · 29/06/2019 17:42

I think it's significantly more tragic to post a thread about it.

Judgey and unnecessary.

If they enjoy it, then good on them.

YABU 😘

TinklyLittleLaugh · 29/06/2019 17:43

Meh, you need some more joy in your life OP.

Yinyen · 29/06/2019 17:43

I would absolutely love to be there getting off my tits, dancing to amazing music, eating loads of shite, and chatting away to loads of people rather than my rather the weekend of to a couple garden drink parties, walking the dogs and dropping the kids off at various places. I love camping, I love music, I love dancing, I love getting off a bit off my head, I love going for a massage, bumping into people I haven't seen for years going for a wander in the hills. Far more fun than whatever dullard weekend I am meant to be having because I am over the age of 40. Just gutted I couldn't get a ticket .

pointythings · 29/06/2019 17:44

What's tragic is being a joyless judgy wankbadger. But as you were, OP.

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 17:44

And Stormzy playing to a sea of white faces
So should 50% of Glastonbury to kets be sold to non white people only? Should Glastonbury only book white artists? Should only black people enjoy Stormzy's shot music? Perhaps the festival can be split in two. White people with Kylie, non white people enduring Stormzy??

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 17:44

Well aren't you a peach OP.

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 17:44

I'm old and I like all kinds of music.
It's something that transcends age I think.
Hear a song and your taken back in time. Only old photos can do this as well.
It is magic in a way. We would be poorer without it.

BlueMerchant · 29/06/2019 17:45

Almost 40 and much cooler and Glastonbury-esque than most 20 year olds I know.

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 29/06/2019 17:45

I'm 53 and always front and centre of a gig....oh and I also go to an indie club which doesn't open until 11pm ......Sometimes I go gigging followed by a night at the club, guess what OP I don't care I love it and have no intention of stopping just yet. You can stick to your hot chocolate and hob-nobs on a weekend, the rest of us will be out having fun!!!

SleepingStandingUp · 29/06/2019 17:46

Presumably past 30 everyone just listens to classic music, surely no one of such advanced age would degrade themselves by enjoying popular culture and having fun. The shame of it!!

SolsticeBabyMaybe · 29/06/2019 17:46

YABU. Aside from the general shitness of Glasto these days, why should there be an age limit on enjoying music and sitting in a field?

In my view, festivals should be for families and people of all ages to come together and have a relaxing, good time.

Grandadwasthatyou · 29/06/2019 17:48

Not my cup of tea but horses for courses.

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 17:48

Bearing in mind the OP's racist post earlier I'm just here for the deletion message
