Glasto is so huge that it doesn't matter how old u are or what your music taste is their is always something going on that u will love. Fuck it. Im 42 and still go to festivals. Are u going to say that because im 40+ i dont know how to enjoy myself? Ive met people 70+ who go to many festivals over the season and they have a brilliant time. Agest wanker.

Glastonbury slightly tragic after a certain age

I went in 1992 when I was 20 and all the same things were said about it at the time. There were loads of children and older people there, that's not a new thing. The headlining act that year was Tom Jones (I think) which didn't impress me at all at the time.

I didn't massively enjoy it because it was really hot and there was no shade and little water. The toilets were pretty bad. You had to camp miles away from the action so you left your tent for the day and went back only to sleep - it was hard work! Food was expensive. Also you can't see anything of the big acts unless you wait in one spot for hours before it begins.

I went with a group of friends and none of us had a mobile phone in 1992 which meant we had to prearrange where to meet and at what time and you had to be there as there was no way of telling them where you were. This meant we could be in the middle of enjoying something but had to leave to go to the meeting place.

I'm glad I went but I far prefer watching it on TV. I'd like to go again at some point but £250 a ticket is a lot of money and I don't think I could face doing it from a tent again.

My cousin who's the same age as me goes every year. She goes with a large group and they all dress up for the big acts. She really loves it and it just suits her. She's an extrovert who loves big groups, clubbing, going out etc. whereas it wasn't really my thing (at 20 or 47).

Moondancer73 · 30/06/2019 17:23

Oh dear. Do you wear Alice bands and loafers too?

vincettenoir · 30/06/2019 17:33

I have been going to festivals since I was 17 and still enjoy them just as much now in my late 30s, although not in exactly the same way. When I see people in their 60s at Glasto enjoying a nice picnic with fancy wine, I always think that is totally what I would want to be doing at that age. Why should older people stop enjoying music and sunshine?

Lovechemicalbrothers · 30/06/2019 17:53

moondancer who is that aimed at?

I think it's brilliant to be going to Glastonbury at any age, it's a wonderful experience - yes of course a few arses but you get them everywhere.

Baritriwsahys · 30/06/2019 18:01

Will we be communing here at 6ish for Kylie’s set, folks?

I watched it on iplayer. She fucking owned Glastonbury. Do not miss it!

Roundtheislands · 30/06/2019 18:02

I'm here!

So glad for her after all she went through ❤️

Emmapeeler · 30/06/2019 18:28

Here with Prosecco! (no glitter).

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 18:29

I’m watching it now. I don’t think her voice sounds good at all, not helped by the buggered sound but I think she’s genuinely happy to be there and isn’t phoning it in.

Baritriwsahys · 30/06/2019 18:30

Keep watching the sound gets better. It was a bit of a slow start. There are some parts where she really shows of the vocal well!

leckford · 30/06/2019 18:35

I would not pay good money to pay to watch some of the acts, husband loves Kylei but not enough to go and stand in the huge crowds

She looks incredible!

Roundtheislands · 30/06/2019 18:38

Sound better now

Roundtheislands · 30/06/2019 18:38

Love her outfit 😍

ShinyMe · 30/06/2019 18:39

I fell asleep on the sofa earlier with the red button coverage on, and had the most trippy dreams to the Chemical Brothers set!

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 18:41

Ahhhh WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 18:43

She does, emma. She (mostly) always has.

There’s no doubting that money, no kids and access to the best surgical and non surgical assistance help with all that but she always started with had an excellent blueprint.

TapasForTwo · 30/06/2019 18:44

That's my favourite song. The sound quality is awful.

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 18:45

She sounds good here, it suits her voice much better. The old Stock, Aitken, Waterman stuff was manufactured for her voice 30 years ago and not really designed to be sung live, i don’t think.

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 18:46

These dancers is what I would look like if tried to erect a tent these days

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 18:47

Jesus sound gone again. Terrible

SimonJT · 30/06/2019 18:47

The sound has been good here, but a few people have mentioned not being able to hear singers on the BBC coverage is causing problems.
