I went in 1992 when I was 20 and all the same things were said about it at the time. There were loads of children and older people there, that's not a new thing. The headlining act that year was Tom Jones (I think) which didn't impress me at all at the time.
I didn't massively enjoy it because it was really hot and there was no shade and little water. The toilets were pretty bad. You had to camp miles away from the action so you left your tent for the day and went back only to sleep - it was hard work! Food was expensive. Also you can't see anything of the big acts unless you wait in one spot for hours before it begins.
I went with a group of friends and none of us had a mobile phone in 1992 which meant we had to prearrange where to meet and at what time and you had to be there as there was no way of telling them where you were. This meant we could be in the middle of enjoying something but had to leave to go to the meeting place.
I'm glad I went but I far prefer watching it on TV. I'd like to go again at some point but £250 a ticket is a lot of money and I don't think I could face doing it from a tent again.
My cousin who's the same age as me goes every year. She goes with a large group and they all dress up for the big acts. She really loves it and it just suits her. She's an extrovert who loves big groups, clubbing, going out etc. whereas it wasn't really my thing (at 20 or 47).
