@emmapeeler that's the two years i went! I was strictly band t-shirts shorts and Doc martens. None of this glitter and bra tops for me

echt · 29/06/2019 21:59

I wouldn't be personally keen on Glastonbury because of its size and the fact that I live in Australia, but at 64 I still go to music festivals not aimed at my age group. There are plenty in the 50s where I go, unsurprising when the headline acts are OAPs, but the only tragic element is no-one in my immediate friendship group will go with me and now DH is dead it's a different experience.

YABU.

Brandon Flowers must have a portrait in the attic! I know he isn't old but how well does he look? He looks younger than he did in 2007!

Love The Killers

Last song? All these things that I've done? Or Mr Brightside ?

Awks · 29/06/2019 21:59

I went with my friend for her 60th a few years back. It was probably one of the best weekends of my life as I was losing confidence, feeling invisible, kids were leaving home and my dh said I'd hate it. Well I bloody loved every single minute and it was an absolute turning point for me - made me sort of find myself again which sounds bloody idiotic but it gave me the oooomph back which the menopause had tried to steal.

Eustasiavye · 29/06/2019 22:00

I was thinking how great, and slim, Brandon looks.
Dp saw them in 2004 ish and says they were "average" back then.😉

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 22:01

Mr B for last record surely?

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 22:01

They get people singing and that's good enough for me. Human is a good number.

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 22:02

I love how this thread has turned!

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 22:03

Awks, I hear you. The menopause sucks our soul ; you have to do these things in order to tell it to do one!

StoorieHoose · 29/06/2019 22:03

Brandon's singing has definitely got stronger over the years. I think Mr Brightside for the last song

wonder if I'll be able to stay awake.long enough to see it since I'm so old and shouldnt be enjoying young stuff like this

ApocalypseMeow · 29/06/2019 22:05

I have always loved going to gigs and festivals and now I'm in my forties I don't want to stop any time soon! My youngest DD likes similar music to myself and as she's not old enough to go on her own I get to tag along and she seems to like my company which is a bonus 😁 We are driving down to Coventry next week from Edinburgh to see Frank Iero at a festival, can't bloody wait! Do what makes you happy I say.

PJMasksGhekko · 29/06/2019 22:06

StoorieHoose Same, we've had a bbq so have had a few drinks, so I know I'll fall asleep if I go bed Grin

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 22:06

I hope my two are going to gigs in their forties and fifties! I'll haunt them if they don't.

Bloody love this!

Emmapeeler · 29/06/2019 22:07

@StoorieHoose oh yes, that was the dress code then wasn’t it! As I recall I had a Supergrass t-shirt. Super cool. Wink

PookieDo · 29/06/2019 22:07

I can no longer be bothered to do festivals. They are a lot of hard work. I’ve never been to Glastonbury though but some others and although they were great when I was there I have no desire to go again!
I think older people at festivals is fine, they are usually much nicer to be around than some young people throwing piss around or pissing on you from behind Angry

PookieDo · 29/06/2019 22:08

I’ve seen the Killers 3 times last time at 02 they were amazing 😀

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 22:09

Yes to a lack of ageism.
After all people have to work till they drop these days so we should try to just get on with it.

JoannaCuppa · 29/06/2019 22:11

I quite fancy a festival but have mobility issues which mean that I can't stand up for long. So would need to sit down a lot. Can anyone who has been tell me whether festivals are disabled friendly at all?

PJMasksGhekko · 29/06/2019 22:11

Loving the Killers.

Pinkarsedfly · 29/06/2019 22:13

God Brandon Flowers is so bloody sexy.

Oblomov19 · 29/06/2019 22:15

God Yes!

PJMasksGhekko · 29/06/2019 22:15

I can see Brandon doing Kids with Kylie tomorrow, in my head lol.

BumandChips · 29/06/2019 22:16

My 4 year old likes the Killers, quite proud of that.

I’m hoping for Mr Brightside for last song.

The80sweregreat · 29/06/2019 22:16

He was always handsome but he has matured well and kept his hair.
Unless it's a wig!!
