I enjoyed Stormzy's set, he's obviously a progressive liberal guy, and he seems like a good human.
So why the sexist lyrics?

If he was just another artist then fine, but he seems so principled in so many other ways. So I find this odd.

I've no interest in what he's done or where he's from, it's a music festival and that performance was just rubbish.

It’s not a race issue though Vladimir. There is structiral imbalance in the male female dimension too - obviously. If a man calls a woman a slut, he is being sexist. Theme the rules. It works that way too.

The reality is Stormzy didn’t play Labourfest as he had prior commitments but yeah let’s slag an artist for wanting to be paid for his work, much better narrative .

It doesn’t need its own thread. This thread is a totally valid place for a discussion on the misogyny of Ed Sheeran. Why do you think we should keep discussions of his misogyny separate instead of discussing the way he is treated differently to Stormzy on this thread?

I don't know this singer, I'm much too old, but couldn't he still be cool and brave and do good works AND demonstrate a respectful position towards women in his language? Was his song better for saying slut in it?

According to urban dictionary Pengting is all one word, and often abbreviated to peng and means perfect or gorgeous no mention of ting being an abbreviation of thing.

This is also how my 2 teenagers understand pengting, nothing about calling anyone a thing.
