...that isn’t covered by takeaways that deliver (or Just Eat etc? I love living here but god I would kill for some readymade dinner right now.

Lighthearted, obv. DH is away on a work trip, 8 month old DD just gone to bed and the kitchen looks like a bomb’s gone off from my (failed) attempts to create tempting and nutritious weaning recipes.

I swore I would never become one of those cringy real life mum memes that bangs on about having g&t for dinner but I think I’m heading that way.

Seriously considering bribing next door’s teenager to go to the chippy for me Blush...

I mean vicars competing
Omd I’m crying laughing at my own post now 😂😂😂

SingingLily · 26/06/2019 22:59

Good question. Some years, it's been hard to tell.

SingingLily · 26/06/2019 23:06

Rosa, we have about 40 scarecrows dotted around the village and only one vicar. She's pretty scary but even she can't move that fast. Anyway, she's only part-time.

Does that answer your question? 🤣🤣🤣

cdtaylornats · 26/06/2019 23:06

If supermarkets wont deliver try Amazon.

HeyThereDelilah1 · 26/06/2019 23:09

@wasgoingmadinthecountry you should try the Gurkha restaurant on Hythe high street, it’s amazing. I currently live in west London (10 years) and am thinking of moving back to Kent, how do you find it?

RosaWaiting · 26/06/2019 23:15

Lily yes thanks. Was it this weekend just gone by any chance?

gottastopeatingchocolate · 26/06/2019 23:15

What is this thing you call "takeaway"?

Not even SatNav can find my house!!

SingingLily · 26/06/2019 23:18

May half term week, Rosa. Anyway, our vicar can't moonlight at weekends. That's her busy time. She has sermons to deliver.

Theghosttrain · 26/06/2019 23:20

Am I the only person on MN who had never had a takeaway delivered?

anonforthespies43267 · 26/06/2019 23:21

We have this issue, so deprived. We settle for things we wouldn’t pick because there’s nothing nice less than 25 min drive away.
Fortunately DH loves me enough to sometimes drive the 25 min each way to get me a Nando’s takeaway!

plominoagain · 26/06/2019 23:25

We have just the one pizza place that has just started delivering from the town which is about 8 miles away , and fortunately they’re even better than Dominoes . Other than that , we’ve got nothing . So for the last few weekends , my DC’s have suddenly clocked that when I drive home from night shift past the next nearest town , I go past a McDonald’s . So they text me their breakfast order before they go to bed , I collect it on the way home and bung it in a warming bag , ring them to get up , and they get my tea and toast ready for a mutual exchange when I get home .. sorted .

Sobeyondthehills · 27/06/2019 00:01

I would love to live rurally and then I read threads like this after a shit day today and remembered its a ten minute walk into town with about 15 various places to eat

Jeremybearimybaby · 27/06/2019 00:38

@Theghosttrain nope, me neither! Mostly because I have never lived anywhere with this facility. Arse end of nowhere for the win!

summerofresistance · 27/06/2019 00:39

Bribe the teenager I would.

I'm really sorry - I don't mean to be frivolous. But a little image of Yoda popped into my head when I read this!

Meangirls36 · 27/06/2019 00:49

I'm disabled I'd be sooo screwed without taxis and just eat. Also without my mobile I would be completely trapped maybe I need a spare phone or a home alarm. I don't think I could cope without the sound of traffic, sirens and trains. Its my white noise. Also I once went to a tiny village not being able to get anything that remotely resembled an espresso made me extremely crotchety.

lyralalala · 27/06/2019 00:57

We used to have no places that delivered here then a guy who moved here tried to get a Dominos franchise, but they said it was too small. He opened a pizza shop. It only sold pizza and garlic bread, but he delivered.

Not only does he live in a verrrry nice house now, but he expanded his business and now delivers breakfasts in the morning (local hostel and pub with rooms are his big trade), takeaways in the evenings and ice cream at night as well!

Everyone loves him.

poochuspoochus · 27/06/2019 01:15

My partner is from the land of no takeaway deliveries and he still finds the idea really weird. He describes Deliveroo as meals on wheels for young people.

user27495824 · 27/06/2019 01:21

I live in a city where I can get any type of food I wanted including McDonald's delivered (or can walk to one in 5 minutes 24 hour) but we never get takeaway. I bet I'd pine for it if I lived rurally though.

TwoPupsAndaHamster · 27/06/2019 01:29

Am I the only person on MN who had never had a takeaway delivered

No....

PenguinsRabbits · 27/06/2019 01:31

DH does drive to get us McDonalds and KFC now. Should add it to marriage vows I do solemnly declare I am willing to drive 10 miles to get any random takeaway my wife or our future children desire.

StripeyChina · 27/06/2019 01:33

I've NEVER had a takeaway delivered
I've never eaten at Nandos, or eaten a Dominoes pizza
My village has a chippy straight out of the 1950's (Spam fritters)
Old people and kids are served first.
He puts on a Christmas Party for all village kids.
One for the old folks too
the Fish is lovely
And he's retiring :(

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 27/06/2019 05:43

My DH wanted to live in the country. We lasted less than six months, it truly is shit isn’t it?

hopefulhalf · 27/06/2019 06:10

I don't get the dominos love....it's shite pizza.

Weezol · 27/06/2019 06:16

SingingLily I think I know where you live...

Thank you for the reminder of why I’ll never live somewhere that remote!
