I'm on the cusp of starting to make and sell my own handmade ice cream at farmers markets etc and I'll be selling from a traditional style ice cream bike. I don't do 'standard' flavours, so you'd find flavours like Eton Mess, Peanut Butter & Caramel or Rhubarb Crumble, plus a vegan flavour / sorbet.

Recipes are developed and tested, kitchen is being modified to keep environmental health happy and the bike is awaiting delivery. But - I need a name for my business! Without it I can't set up my website etc...

I need something that suggests

  • premium quality
  • something that's a bit different to the norm
  • possibly a hint at the environmental / zero waste ethos

I'm in Wales but I've been avoiding place related names as I want the option to expand in future, and I can't be certain that the business will always be bike-based so I've been avoiding explicitly bike-related names.

Possibly something like Creamery, The Scoop, The Project, The _ Ice Cream Co but I'm very open to suggestions! Help please hivemind...

The Big Tub!!

FlatPackPat · 07/07/2019 12:43

I like The Big Tub and Street Gelato too (on the condition that it is gelato you're making as opposed to ice cream, they're different apparently)

SagAloojah · 07/07/2019 13:33

@adaline

OP is the one who said they weren't standard flavours. Other people were just stating their opinion

She didn't say that Confused

She said 'I don't do 'standard' flavours, so you'd find flavours like Eton Mess, Peanut Butter & Caramel or Rhubarb Crumble, plus a vegan flavour / sorbet.'

Most people would say standard flavours are vanilla, strawberry etc. You called them 'normal' flavours yourself @adaline , which is just a synonym for 'standard'. You sound very pedantic.

wheresmymojo · 07/07/2019 13:43

. All the ice-cream shops near to me sell flavours along those lines

I'm wondering where people saying this live?

I've lived in places around Surrey & Hampshire - the only ice cream shops we have are 'Creams' which cater to the less ethical, cheaper end of the market, lots of kids, etc. They don't have these flavours.

LittleAndOften · 07/07/2019 13:52

Ice cream businesses I know are called:

Sweet Flamingo
Pink's vintage ice cream
Rainbow's
Caroline's Dairy
Northney Farm

I'd go with something personal to you, rather than an ice-cream pun. It's more unique.

wheresmymojo · 07/07/2019 14:03

For me Daisy & Belle are a bit super-sweet and sickly.

Do you have DC? Do their names work?

PomPomtheGreat · 08/07/2019 02:36

I've just been watching Bob's Burgers, so I want to cast my vote for: I scream, you scream, we all scream for frozen yogurt!

shieldmaidenofrohan · 08/07/2019 02:57

I only read to page 10 but didn't see my suggestion yet..

Waffle & Scoop

justilou1 · 08/07/2019 03:41

Icecycles?

FaceOfASpink · 21/08/2019 19:55

Update!
Guess who I saw when I was walking the dog this afternoon?Smile
And the ice cream was delicious! I had Tiramisu and Lemon Meringue Pie and they were both glorious. The tiramisu was just like the pudding but not at all sickly and the LMP had lovely pieces of meringue in it that were still crisp (how???) and fizzed in my mouth but in a good way.
There were more adventurous flavours too.
@PitterPatterOfTinyPaws I hope you do really wellGrin

foxtiger · 22/08/2019 10:59

I quite like Daisy&Belle, it's easy to remember and doesn't remind me too much of any other brand. I was thinking that if you do branch out into cakes it could be Ice and a Slice, but that name won't really work while it's still just ice cream.

Cool It?

Icycle?

@FaceOfASpink that does sound lovely - I wish I was in the right region to try some too!

FaceOfASpink · 22/08/2019 11:14

Next time see her I'm going to try the more unusual flavours for research purposes of course WinkSmile

teacakes44 · 22/08/2019 17:52

Flake it til you make it 😀

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 22/08/2019 18:19

I've not read all of the suggestions.

But to the poster who said The Ethical Creamery sounds like a fair trade wank.
Hahahaha.

Songsofexperience · 22/08/2019 19:26

Not rtft but how about
Penguin&Bear ?

Both are animals loved by kids (great to appeal to families) and associated with the cold but without any dairy connotations. Could look great with a cute logo.

Walkerbean16 · 22/08/2019 19:31

@FaceOfASpink but what was it called?!

Walkerbean16 · 22/08/2019 19:32

Oops sorry I just read back a few pages ignore me!

Mummyshark2019 · 22/08/2019 20:04

Proper "Creme" then if you do other foods Proper "Cupcakes" etc

Delish...

HappyParent2000 · 22/08/2019 20:06
