I'm on the cusp of starting to make and sell my own handmade ice cream at farmers markets etc and I'll be selling from a traditional style ice cream bike. I don't do 'standard' flavours, so you'd find flavours like Eton Mess, Peanut Butter & Caramel or Rhubarb Crumble, plus a vegan flavour / sorbet.

Recipes are developed and tested, kitchen is being modified to keep environmental health happy and the bike is awaiting delivery. But - I need a name for my business! Without it I can't set up my website etc...

I need something that suggests

  • premium quality
  • something that's a bit different to the norm
  • possibly a hint at the environmental / zero waste ethos

I'm in Wales but I've been avoiding place related names as I want the option to expand in future, and I can't be certain that the business will always be bike-based so I've been avoiding explicitly bike-related names.

Possibly something like Creamery, The Scoop, The Project, The _ Ice Cream Co but I'm very open to suggestions! Help please hivemind...

I love Iced on a bike!

Not keen on creamery. Sounds a bit like a creepy bloke sidling up rubbing his thighs and proffering a waffle cone.

Glacial gourmet
Epicurial ices

But overall I agree with a simple/single word or two words that relates to you.

Middle names? Place you were when you thought up the idea? House name? Or number? Your old school/village you grew up in.

Brain storm yourself.
You can add ices to whatever word you choose and then your branding can be altered as your empire grows!!

Ice cream sold from a bike (at least initially) sounds quite retro to me. I like company names that are X and Y (e.g. Bloom and Wild, Carter and Rose, Pinnies and Poppyseeds) so I would pick two first names (that could be names of current babies and their great grandparents) and use that as my company name, e.g. Sid and Violet, Fred and Edith etc.

Jones the Ice is fantastic

ErrolTheDragon · 26/06/2019 22:23

A measure of an ice cream shop is how good their vanilla tastes.

Proper custardy vanilla is good.
Strawberry I'd keep for the sorbet though.

Jones the Cones is better

Do all the people suggesting Gelato realise that ice cream and gelato aren’t the same thing?

For PP who suggested a name based on Victorian ice cream sellers, I offer you "Penny Licks"Grin

I'm your target demographic too, and agree with PP suggesting a family/first name plus ice cream if you are thinking of ending up in Waitrose etc. Though Jones the Cone is pretty bloody good Grin

Gelato Gallese (welsh ice cream in Italian)?

Ericaceae · 26/06/2019 23:17

Can't help but share this - "nugget" being ice cream between mallow wafers and an insult, and with the right accent the whole thing reading as halfway between a suggestion and telling someone to get to Grin
Good luck, OP!

‘Let it Snow’ for your ice cream company. If you decide to branch out you could have a sister line ‘Let it grow’

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 26/06/2019 23:23

Chilly Dragon. Reference Wales and ...well icy type stuff.

Ericaceae · 26/06/2019 23:25

And as a sensible point - we queued for a good 15 minutes on a warm spring day for handmade icecream from a cart in a touristy village recently. They had plenty of amazing flavours like raspberry cheesecake, chocolate hazelnut, etc. but they had completely sold out of plain vanilla. People do like well-made "normal" flavours too, so I think a good balance is important.
