Posting as it's the busiest group but please tell me your stories on 3rd babies being born.
Was it quicker than the first two? I'm really excited I'm due January but hoping I deliver around Christmas time Grin 🎄

Sixgeese · 22/06/2019 12:56

Yes, quicker. I only had 90 minutes of active labour with DC3.

isseywithcats · 22/06/2019 12:57

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/06/2019 12:59

Third 5 hours from first twinge to baby in arms

DramaAlpaca · 22/06/2019 13:00

Much quicker than the first two, five hours from start to finish, five days before due date.

anitagreen · 22/06/2019 13:03

My fourth was also five hours but back to back

Now expecting no 5, a bit concerned. I wouldnt want it too quick!

Pinkmouse6 · 22/06/2019 13:08

No, my second was the quickest. 24 hours with DC1, 6 hours DC2, 12 hours DC3. DC3 was also the biggest.

yellowellies · 22/06/2019 13:11

DS 3 - I decided to ignore the midwife when she said paracetamol and wait because my contractions were more than 5 minutes apart but big.... DH drove me to hospital anyway, 10 minutes drive, parked the car at 6.00pm time of delivery 6.04pm!

Greenvalleymama · 22/06/2019 13:15

1st labour- 13hrs, long tiring difficult labour, 11days overdue, average almost 8lb baby
2nd labour - 1.5hr labour, very quick and easy. 13 days overdue. Small under 6lb baby.
3rd labour- 2hrs (only night time labour) fast and difficult, 15 days overdue, huge baby 9lb 7oz.

Good luck, they say third babies do their own thing, whatever that means!!

Caillou · 22/06/2019 13:25

3rd labour was very quick, (less than 1hr) and ds was born in triage, had DH listened to me, he would have been born either at home or in the car.

very irregular contractions overnight but nothing overly painful, then after 2 strong contractions, woke up DH who drove me to hospital (I said we should wait a little...he didn't agree to that). midwives didn't believe I was close to giving birth, so put me in triage to monitor and ds was born 5 mins later there (less than 10 mins after arriving at the hospital).

4under4our · 22/06/2019 13:26

I'm sorry to say my third labour was my longest by far. Still only around 10 hours from first contraction to baby being born though.

Acm1989 · 22/06/2019 13:29

Does it make a difference if one of the first two labours was a c section? In regards to the length of labour for the third, as it would be a the 2nd natural delivery?

Jemima232 · 22/06/2019 13:31

@anitagreen

Are you having a home birth this time, given that your first two labours were so fast?

MyInnerAlto · 22/06/2019 13:33

Dc1: 2+ days of labour with cascade of intervention, ventouse birth at 38+0
Dc2: Four or five hours of labour, arrived at hospital with intensifying but manageable contractions and turned out I was 9cm, birth half an hour after arrival (ventouse again, foetal distress/cord was round his neck), 40+8
Dc3: Induced at 40+10, very little happened for several hours, I was checked at 2cm and advised to go for a walk, I got as far as the corridor outside the labour ward before it hit me, she was born in the caul 20 minutes after I was found to be 2cm

Dontrainonmyparade · 22/06/2019 13:37

1st 12 hours
2nd 6 hours
3rd 3 hours

Labour pretty much halving each time for me. Though my pregnancies got longer Hmm

BellMcEnd · 22/06/2019 13:42
  1. About 4 hours I think (difficult to know when I went into active labour as never had a lot of pain, contractions were irregular. Was 7cm when I got to hospital)
  1. About the same
  1. About 1.5 hours from start to placenta with the second stage being 2 pushes (HB Thank fuck )
blushmelikeyou · 22/06/2019 13:43

Over and out in a couple of hours but the contractions were the most painful!

CuppaSarah · 22/06/2019 13:49

My third labour was amazing. Induction the day after my due date because of reduced movements and me being on crutches. Propess in at 11am, contractions 4 in 10 minutes from the start. Built up in the exact same way as spontaneous labour and by 8pm I was managing but clearly progressing, I was 4cm so off to labour ward. I got a cheeky epidural straight away on labour ward. Napped, chatted and snacked with my husband, felt more like a date than labour. By 1am I was 10cm, we waited about an hour before pushing, then at 3am baby appeared.

Absolutely best labour of them all, so relaxed and felt so confident. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Crunched · 22/06/2019 13:49

DC1- 21 hours
DC2 - 1 hour
DC3 - 8 hours

NeegansWife · 22/06/2019 13:52

1st 14 hours
2nd 4 hours
3rd 1 hour 20 minutes

millymae · 22/06/2019 13:53

Same as the other 2 for me - all over 10 days late and around 12 hours before normal deliveries
The third was induced as a kind midwife took pity on me and
‘accidentally’ broke my waters to save me going home and my husband having to go into work.

Dancingandthedreaming · 22/06/2019 13:55

Dc1 12h, dc2 6h, dc3 3h (3 M second stage!), dc 4 24 hours of back to back hell. Midwives were surprised, apparently no 3 often stop start then quick.

anitagreen · 22/06/2019 13:56

@Jemima232 I'm not the midwives did suggest it and have put down I have a condition called precipitate labour so I go really fast, but I just don't want to be without the security of the hospital I just got to make sure as soon as I feel a twinge I'm straight in. With my son it didn't hurt at all and felt like period pain then my body started pushing which was frightening but I was already in the hospital at the time so was fine and safe Shock

anitagreen · 22/06/2019 13:59

Did you all deliver before due date also? My first was 42+4 my second 38+5 x

Following with intrigue!! I’m expecting DC3 in Sept.
DC1: hospital induction. 3hrs from first pain to baby being born.
DC2: Planned home birth. 10hrs from first pain to baby being born.

Planning another home birth, but DH is notoriously unreliable at answering his phone when he’s at work Hmm So a bit concerned that I’ll be giving birth with only my other DCs for company if this baby turns out to be a quick one!!
