Posting as it's the busiest group but please tell me your stories on 3rd babies being born.
Was it quicker than the first two? I'm really excited I'm due January but hoping I deliver around Christmas time Grin 🎄

2 weeks early. Flew out in 15 minutes. No pain relief

anitagreen · 22/06/2019 14:31

@Butterbeeeen ooh that sounds like a good one hope mine goes like that

@IntoValhalla this is exactly why I don't want a home birth because I know my other two will be fighting to get in the pool or staring at me and it'll just be a pain in the arse I don't need!

1st - 40 weeks plus 10 days. 13 hours and ALL the drugs.
2nd - 5 days early, didn't realise I was in labour, walking around Tesco getting food for a meal the next day with a friend (8pm) Went into hospital at just after midnight, despite them saying leaving it a bit longer, born 45 mins later on just gas and air. I cried when I couldn't have an epidural.
3rd - 9 weeks early. 2 days in hospital for drugs to mature lungs and try and stop labour. Born very early in the morning after a pethadine nap. She was due end of Jan and came end of Nov the previous year,, and home just in time for Christmas.

AtAmber · 22/06/2019 15:40

Ds3 was almost born in the Mersey Tunnel. I managed to hold on until we got to the hospital. He was born 5 minutes after we arrived.

Bbang · 22/06/2019 16:00

First was 24 hours ending in ventouse and episiotomy to get him out, second was a speedy 6 hours from first twinge to babe in arms, third was 12 hours ending emergency c-section as he was stuck fast under my pelvis. Sweeps with the second two.

They won’t be a fourth lol . .

AdoreTheBeach · 22/06/2019 16:02

Really super fast, less than 20 minutes after arriving at hospital. First two induced (one was pre eclampsia, second over due).

Of course, I was going through labour at home waiting for DH, who decided to stop for a coffee up of tea and bacon roll rather than just come home to take me to the hospital.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 22/06/2019 16:08

My labours have gotten quicker with each of my 3. Approximately 8 hours first time, 6 hours second and 4 hours third. Very little of any of my labours was actually horrendous pain and the actual pushing part felt like seconds.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 22/06/2019 16:09

I forgot to add that DS1 was born on his due date, DS2 was 10 days early and DS3 was born on his due date!

cavalier · 22/06/2019 16:16

Mine was quicker with second child and less painful .... his head was smaller though . My first child’s was 38cm and second 35 cm lol
I think my short labours ( first one was 9 hours ) are down to me walking loads ... and I couldn’t eat choc as it made me ill ( how things change lol)
I lost weight whilst pregnant first one but baby did thrive .... I really believe that walking a lot and eating relatively healthily really helped my labour be quicker ... I don’t mean trudging but gentle long walks with hubby .. not lifting weights either .... or gym bunny sessions ... 4 hours strong labour with second one compared to 9 hours with first one 👍

PeterRabbitt · 22/06/2019 16:17

Day and night long labours with first 2 and they were both nearly 10lbs. 3rd one over 10lbs but three hours from first inkling to arrival.

EverythingNow · 22/06/2019 16:23

Dd1 42wks induced 12hrs
Dd2 41+2wks spontaneous 6hrs from waters breaking but about 7/8hrs after deciding this is definitely it.
Dd3 42wks induced by waters being broken 2hrs.

I'm expecting DC4 in August and I really don't know to expect, he will probably be overdue and induced!

Lllot5 · 22/06/2019 16:33

My third was the longest one sorry.
Still only seven hours from start to finish he had his arm up came out like superman.

TheInvisibleMrsCrane · 22/06/2019 17:02

I was still in work. Finished a late meeting feeling fine at 10pm and number 3 arrived 5 hours later at 3am.

Planned home birth - the first midwife made it, the second was about half an hour late. DH just about managed to set up the entinox.

InezInez · 22/06/2019 17:16

First was over 12 hours and difficult, second was 4 hours and super easy, third was 5 or 6 hours and THE WORST (sorry). No more kids for me after that shit show.

Karwomannghia · 22/06/2019 17:21

24 hours of proper persistent contractions with v little movement at the beginning but quite painful. She was back to back. Much better once I got the gas and air and birthing pool at 6cm. So took ages but there was a 10 year gap between 2 and 3 so I think it was a bit like starting over!

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 22/06/2019 17:23

1st - 8 hours
2nd - 4 hours
3rd - 2 hours 55 minutes, planned home birth, midwives barely made it in time
4th - 3.5 hours, planned home birth and second midwife turned up as his head came out, so just in time!

So ds2 and ds3 both came quicker each time, but ds4 took a little longer than no 3, so no guarantees it will get quicker each time.

cavalier · 22/06/2019 17:28

I was bang on time with first one and 4 days early with second ... I had had a tummy bug and doc said it could bring labour on... he was right ...
8 pound 8 with first child and 7pound 5 with second ....

elliejjtiny · 22/06/2019 17:37

Ds3 was my 2nd quickest. Just over 2 hours and born 2 days after due date. My best birth of them all I think. I'd been on the antenatal ward all day waiting to be induced just reading my book and eating toast with jam. Then at 8pm I went down to the labour ward 5cm dilated. He was born at 10:46pm and I was home and in my own bed by 2am

BoomZahramay · 22/06/2019 17:40

DC1- 16hrs, 1 day early
DC2- 6hrs, 1 day early
DC3- 6hrs, 1 week late

Purpleseastars · 22/06/2019 17:53

DC1 induced as 11 days overdue - 8 hours.

DC2 induced a week early - 3 hours.

DC3 was my favourite birth, started about 11ish, kept ringing the hospital and they kept saying I definitely wasn't in labour and to stay at home. I knew I had excess water and they still said not to come. I had a lovely few hours with my two dd's getting my bag ready and cleaning. I just went in anyway at 3:45pm and DD was here by 4pm. Even as I walked in the MW said I definitely wasn't in labour Hmm. My DH wasn't convinced I was either Grin.

DC4 was induced a week early - 5 hours.

IntoValhalla · 22/06/2019 18:12

@anitagreen DC1 was present for DC2’s birth and really wasn’t phased by any of it. She just pottered about like any normal day! DH and my mum were on hand to help keep her occupied though

anitagreen · 22/06/2019 18:29

@IntoValhalla that sounds lovely my daughter is the type who'd want to get in and have a look though fgs Sad

IntoValhalla · 22/06/2019 20:18

@anitagreen she kept squatting down next to me and asking “what doing mama?” Grin “Urrrrrmm I’m a little busy right now” Confused

Tcga745 · 22/06/2019 20:58

Dc1 36 hours
Dc2 37 minutes
Dc3 - went to get a sandwich at 11:15, holding baby by 12:05
Dc4 bloody quick less than an hour. Just enough time to have an argument with midwives that I was having a baby now regardless of the fact I was only 2cm.
All late, between 4 and 11 days. Smallest 8:7 biggest 10lb.

anitagreen · 22/06/2019 21:12

@IntoValhalla oh bless her that's exactly what mine would do and then probably jump in the pool and have a look Shock x
