Please help me.
Name changed, long time poster.

I have a chronic illness amongst other illnesses for which I take a number of medications, maybe 12?

I get my medications delivered to me on my repeat prescription by an online pharmacy.

Big box got delivered today.

I go down to my concierge (adjacent building) and collect my box of medications alongside another big box. I put these two boxes in a large recycling type bag that the concierge provided me with.

I have a few smaller parcels to collect from the other building (different concierge) this takes around 5 minutes.
Whilst I go to the other building, I leave the heavy bag holding the two boxes in the reception of my building (cctv, etc)

I return and both boxes have been stolen.

I am going out of my mind.

I tell the concierge who says I have to wait until Monday for the manager to view the cctv.
I am a single mother to 10mo dc. I am now getting really anxious and feeling a vomiting attack coming on.

I've called the police who say I have to wait 48 hours for their telephone investigating team to get in touch?

My concern is, not only do I need these medications but also by the time Monday comes these medications will be long gone (sold, taken?) and potentially so will the person who stole them.

What can I do?

I'm panicking.

Are there controlled drugs in there ?

Merryoldgoat · 21/06/2019 23:40

When do your meds actually run out?

bellalou1234 · 21/06/2019 23:40

Can you get an emergency prescription for over weekend?

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:42

Controlled drugs - yes, a lot.

If I have one or two run out I contact 111 but these are a months supply of around 12 different medications including some special items that are specially ordered in.

I'm sat here thinking to knock on every single flat and ask if they have it.

111 can do emergency prescriptions unless it's a controlled medication, but you were stupid to leave stuff like that unattended in the first place it's dangerous.

Cheery145 · 21/06/2019 23:42

I don’t think there is anything you can do about the medicines that have gone or the thief but you will surely be able to get them replaced by a new prescription as they are so necessary. If you are running out of key treatments you could go to a pharmacy and provide proof that you take a certain medication by showing them an old packet and they may be able to give you an emergency dose. I also believe 111 can refer you to the emergency GP if you need another prescription urgently.

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:43

@MardyMavis
Yep I won't do it again but this is a very nice set of buildings in an affluent area with security etc nothing has happened like this before. It's very odd

Phone NHS24 and get an emergency supply of your meds. I’ve had to do this - different circumstances but similar outcome - an if was straightforward. Worry about your own health right now. The tablets unfortunately will be long gone but you’ve done all you can by reporting it.

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 21/06/2019 23:44

Shut up @MardyMavis that's not helpful. OP ring 111 for advice. Will the lack of medication affect your mental state?

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:44

@Cheery145 Will they do that for all of them do you think?
I havd a crime reference number but I'm concerned they might think it odd

OP posts:
Cheery145 · 21/06/2019 23:44

You could knock on every flat but might you be better asking the concierge to do it? You wouldn’t really be able to get the person who took them to hand them over unless it was an innocent mistake - in which case the concierge could ask around the building?

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:45

Thank you @itscallednickingbentcoppers
Yes, some are psychological.
I'm crying now panicking because one of the illnesses I have causes me to vomit uncontrollably and be admitted to hospital, and I have no one to help with dc.
Argh, why do prople go this!!
What are they going to do with 5 types of anti e ética

OP posts:
helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:45

Would who do it? Your GP? Or the pharmacy? Sorry I have to say either way I’m not an expert I just know that in emergencies I and family members have managed to get an emergency supply from the pharmacy, even controlled drugs in extreme cases for my DSis. I can’t imagine any Dr saying you only have one chance to get your medication and if it is lost/stolen you just have to lump it. I hope you have some luck with replacement at least! Sorry this happened to you.

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:50

Thank you. @Cheery145
I'm thinking to ask the unhelpful concierge to assist me knocking on eve doors.
I called my mum. She thinks it's a batshit idea but what do I have to lose, someone knows where it is.
I can understand the morphine but not the anti sickness.
I will try to call 111 with the reference number thank you

Cheery145 · 21/06/2019 23:50

How old is your DC? I can’t imagine a hospital not letting them stay with you if you had no one else to care for them. Try not to panic. Why don’t you call 111 now to find out what the situation is with replacing your medication? Then you may not need to worry so much.

Cheery145 · 21/06/2019 23:51

Crossed messages! Good luck.

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:52

@Cheery145
DC is10 months.
I'm worried that if I have to be admitted they call social services or something and dc is breastfed.
And the only pharmacy open 24 hours is about an hour away and I'm too ill right now to go and get some from there. This is a nightmare.
Probably over thinking

Have you looked in the bins? It seems more likely to me that someone assumed it was rubbish and threw it away.

helpmem · 21/06/2019 23:55

@Gintonic actually good idea. Gonna pop to the bins now!!

OP posts:
TheDarkPassenger · 21/06/2019 23:55

Yes look in the bins!!

TheDarkPassenger · 21/06/2019 23:55

Sorry cross post. Keeping everything crossed for you

Kyogre · 21/06/2019 23:58

Can you put a big note on the main door?

Also, rather than knock on every door how about putting a note through everyone's door.

Is it more likely that the box was taken by accident rather than stolen?

Good luck.

helpmem · 22/06/2019 00:14

Just checked the bins and walked on all 22 floors with no sign of the packaging.
