Please help me.
Name changed, long time poster.

I have a chronic illness amongst other illnesses for which I take a number of medications, maybe 12?

I get my medications delivered to me on my repeat prescription by an online pharmacy.

Big box got delivered today.

I go down to my concierge (adjacent building) and collect my box of medications alongside another big box. I put these two boxes in a large recycling type bag that the concierge provided me with.

I have a few smaller parcels to collect from the other building (different concierge) this takes around 5 minutes.
Whilst I go to the other building, I leave the heavy bag holding the two boxes in the reception of my building (cctv, etc)

I return and both boxes have been stolen.

I am going out of my mind.

I tell the concierge who says I have to wait until Monday for the manager to view the cctv.
I am a single mother to 10mo dc. I am now getting really anxious and feeling a vomiting attack coming on.

I've called the police who say I have to wait 48 hours for their telephone investigating team to get in touch?

My concern is, not only do I need these medications but also by the time Monday comes these medications will be long gone (sold, taken?) and potentially so will the person who stole them.

What can I do?

I'm panicking.

@Kyogre I was just thinking this. This would be a perfect time to set up my printer.
I'm gonna put a note under every door and explain that I don't care who took it but if they could just give me at least one box of each medication back.

It's just weird as it says my flat number in big letters on the boxes.
But I'm very surprised, these are affluent professionals and I don't know why they'd take it when they know that there is cctv etc

Has someone put them behind the desk somewhere??

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 22/06/2019 00:20

Someone hasn’t come to collect a parcel/delivery that has had to go back, and the delivery driver has picked up your box as well by mistake?

Supersimpkin · 22/06/2019 00:24

You're breastfeeding on morphine?

Caffeto · 22/06/2019 00:26

Does the concierge know what's in there?

A pharmacy can't supply any controlled drugs without a prescription, but 111 might be able to help point you in the direction of where you can get a doctor to prescribe for you.

QuestionableMouse · 22/06/2019 00:30

My mam had her bag stolen and her new meds were in it. She reported it to the police and was given a crime number too. She then rang 111 and explained and the ooh GP sorted her a prescription out very quickly.

Ring your pharmacy in the morning or on Monday and I'm sure they'll be able to advise you what to do. Ditto your GP. 111 will get you stuff to tide you over until then.

helpmem · 22/06/2019 00:30

What do you mean sorry @SnowyAlpsandPeaks?
You mean a delivery driver collecting it to return to sender?

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 00:31

@Supersimpkin Yes, I don't take that daily but dihydrocodeine daily

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 00:32

@Caffeto Yep, he knows but seems very uninterested and not very helpful.
Just tried calling all the numbers associated with security/ cctv with no luck so gonna call 111 now and hope they don't want me to go to an appointment to go through everything and then go to a pharmacy. I don't think my body can manage.

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 00:33

@QuestionableMouse Thank you!
I'm gonna write a notice saying keep the other parcel just give me my medication. Ah.

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 00:34

The thing is they wouldn't know the box contained medication.
Perhaps they thought it was an expensive purchase but after opening they would realise which is why I think if I put notices explaining that I don't care who took it and to put it somewhere not covered by the main cctv, a lift? Then I will take it no further

Caffeto · 22/06/2019 00:51

Do you have enough to see you through till Monday?

If so, I think the best thing to do would be to wait and speak to your own GP.

Pharmacies can supply medication as an emergency and can also take a prescription over the phone or email, but for controlled drugs they need to have the original script before they can supply so you would at the very least need to be able to pick the prescription up from OOH/ hospital and get to a pharmacy to have it dispensed even if you didn't require an appointment.

I asked about the concierge as if he knows what the parcel contains and the value of it, could he have taken it?

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 22/06/2019 00:52

Yes, was there a package a delivery driver had to collect, and they’ve picked up yours by mistake?

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/06/2019 01:05

You're breastfeeding on morphine?
Oramorph and fentanyl are both compatible with breastfeeding.

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 22/06/2019 01:09

OP I would phrase your message something more like 'hello, did someone pick up my medication by mistake, if so could you please contact me on 07xxxxxx urgently or drop at my door as I need it by 9am thanks'

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 22/06/2019 01:09

Oh and as some of them are psychological contact the mental health crisis team and explain and they'll help you get sorted x

helpmem · 22/06/2019 01:14

@Caffeto unfortunately I don't.
A few I haven't taken for a day also because my gp was late in sending the prescription which is why I am already feeling the effects.

I'm just waiting for my narcissistic ex to come and assist so I csn call 111 and hopefully he can take me to the pharmacy/ doctors etc. I think I have the empty packets.

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 01:15

@SnowyAlpsandPeaks I would see that as a possibility but it was 11pm ish so unless it was some kind of late night delivery but still a possibility!

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 01:16

@MyDcAreMarvel Yeah thank you.
People are quite judgy Smile

OP posts:
helpmem · 22/06/2019 01:18

@itscallednickingbentcoppers
Actually thank you. I was thinking of wording it more of an accusation but that sounds so much better and more likely to have a positive outcome.
Oo yes crisis team, good idea too. They should help too!
I wish it was a weekday and I could ask my perinatal nurse, they picked the wrong day!

They wouldn't hsvd known what was in the boxes so perhaps a mistake or feeling lucky so if I approach it as a mistake and explain that I'm actually quite ill it might work

OP posts:
GibbonLover · 22/06/2019 01:33

So if some of your meds are controlled drugs, does that mean that the person who has them right now (assuming someone does have them, of course) is in breach of the law?

helpmem · 22/06/2019 02:23

@GibbonLover Exactly my point!
It's so dangerous. I don't know why it's not viewed more seriously

OP posts:
TanMateix · 22/06/2019 02:34

Be nice in your message, make it look like an accident, if whoever took them feels like he is going to be dealt with as a thief, they would just bin them even if they took them by accident.

You need to report the theft to the police before you ring the emergency doctor/111 as they are controlled drug they will need a crime reference number. The pharmacy will not be able to issue more controlled drugs without a prescription but maybe able to offer an emergency supply for other medication. It maybe that someone has taken in error rather than taking deliberately although if people were looking to take medication whilst they may recognise the name morphine they may not recognise what the others were for and also if they were taking it they are unlikely to sort through medication but rather take and sort through later. It might be worth speaking to the pharmacy as if someone has taken in error they may let them know they have them although most pharmacies will seal bag with a bag label contain8ng your address. I know it sounds glib but try not to worry as lost/stolen medication happens far more often than you think and the ooh will sort out medication for you at least over the weekend until GP etc are open on Monday
