Please help me.
Name changed, long time poster.

I have a chronic illness amongst other illnesses for which I take a number of medications, maybe 12?

I get my medications delivered to me on my repeat prescription by an online pharmacy.

Big box got delivered today.

I go down to my concierge (adjacent building) and collect my box of medications alongside another big box. I put these two boxes in a large recycling type bag that the concierge provided me with.

I have a few smaller parcels to collect from the other building (different concierge) this takes around 5 minutes.
Whilst I go to the other building, I leave the heavy bag holding the two boxes in the reception of my building (cctv, etc)

I return and both boxes have been stolen.

I am going out of my mind.

I tell the concierge who says I have to wait until Monday for the manager to view the cctv.
I am a single mother to 10mo dc. I am now getting really anxious and feeling a vomiting attack coming on.

I've called the police who say I have to wait 48 hours for their telephone investigating team to get in touch?

My concern is, not only do I need these medications but also by the time Monday comes these medications will be long gone (sold, taken?) and potentially so will the person who stole them.

What can I do?

I'm panicking.

I've been a victim of theft - just my wallet. The effect that had on my life.......... I can't stand thieves. Cunts.

julensaor · 22/06/2019 03:29

Controlled drugs - yes, a lot.

What controlled drugs exactly and how much? I don't think this will be seen as a major crime, so your first priority is getting a replacement prescription, so you need to make a police report, to have a backup to get your prescription re-issued.

soberken · 22/06/2019 04:44

You're breastfeeding on morphine?!?!?

Laterthanyouthink · 22/06/2019 04:45

Did the concierge not see anything? I think I would get police to talk to him and view cctv before it is wiped, which it may be by Monday.

sashh · 22/06/2019 05:26

Talk to 111 they will tell you where and how to get meds for a few days.

I'm not sure with online pharmacies but the physical ones can give you a supply of three days in an emergency, you may have to pay. I 'walk in' clinic or A and E can also give you a prescription.

Just think about getting your meds for the weekend from now.

If you do write a note don't ask for just a box, I'm no legal expert but I think that could open you up to accusations of dealing. Sorry I don't mean to alarm you but as these are controlled drugs you must be careful.

Mia184 · 22/06/2019 05:30

You are taking dihydrocodeine and are breastfeeding?
Here is a scientific paper on side-effects on breastfed infants: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK500692/

Wakeupalready · 22/06/2019 05:38

I had a bag full of restricted medication flogged off the front seat of my car, plus a grocery bag with cabbies and milk.
My illness gives me bad brain fog at times and I'd forgotten to lock it when whipping in to the Post Office.
I had to do a full police report before the GP could reissue the scripts, and provide them with the police report number.
It was unfortunately a big pain in the arse.

Good luck, I completely get your stress.

Wakeupalready · 22/06/2019 05:39

Lord help me....cabbages

helpmem · 22/06/2019 06:40

@soberken @Mia184 Thanks for your concern. My medications are prescribed by doctors qualified in their fields so I'll take their advice over some Internet strangers.

Thank you to everyone else for your messages and sorry to hear that it's happened to others. People have no morals!

The update is -

I already reported it to the police as soon as it happened.

The concierge was apparently taking out the bins when the situation happened so didn't see anything.

I have written polite notices and put them under all the doors on 22 floors (it took a while) and also stuck some up in the reception. Basically saying, I think someone has mistakenly taken the parcel, if so please message me on xxxxx thanks :)

I called 111, they can only prescribe 4 out of the 15 odd medications and the controlled ones they can't prescribe unless I see them physically but they didn't have any appointments until later on tonight so I thought I'd get the 4, hopefully recover slightly then call back and book for later on.

So they prescribed 4 and sent them to the 24 pharmacy.

Narcassistic father of my child has walked out and now refused to take us to the pharmacy (which is a while away by public transport) because I won't change 10 month old dc name to one of his choosing. So now he says he cannot bare to look at dc as they don't have the name he wishes 10 months on.
Anyway, slightly derailed but...

Now, I'm even more buggered.
I'm going to have to call them back and ask for them to send it to a closer one but I'm panicking about going there as I'm already feeling the withdrawal symptoms and feel like my body is vibrating? Confused

Is it possible for your mum to come and help or another family member?

theworldistoosmall · 22/06/2019 07:04

Good luck getting your meds.

My gp flagged up that some of my mh drugs needed changing, yet this was overlooked by the urology department.

helpmem · 22/06/2019 07:06

@rainbowstardrops my mum lives a few hours away but she's currently away about 6 hours away and I don't have anyone close enough to ask. 😩

I'm thinking of messaging my old midwife

Have you actually read the link from Mia184, OP?

Totur · 22/06/2019 07:17

Can you book an uber to take you there and back? Not sure if you can afford that... I know it's probably 10 quid or so.........

Mysleepthiefslept · 22/06/2019 07:23

How awful, hope.you get them back

yawning801 · 22/06/2019 07:24

Let the poor woman get her medication before badgering her about anything else!

Would any of your neighbours help you by taking you to the pharmacy, OP?

fraxion · 22/06/2019 07:25

I'm surprised controlled drugs are delivered by post/courier given you have to show ID and sign for them at a pharmacy.

Wildorchidz · 22/06/2019 07:27

Really hope you get sorted this morning

Cheby · 22/06/2019 07:30

Please stop attempting to give the OP advice on her medication and breastfeeding. Unless any of you are Wendy Jones you’re not as qualified as her doctors and pharmacist.

And in any case, morphine is safe, and dihydrocodeine is usually ok (codeine being the drug with the small level of risk due to the way it is metabolised in a very small percentage of the population).

You mean like you just have?

Peterpiperpickedwrong · 22/06/2019 07:36

I put these two boxes in a large recycling type bag that the concierge provided me with.

Has a ‘helpful’ person seen the recycling bag and put it in the recycling area?
Phone back and accept the appointment now. It won’t be available later as someone else will have booked it. Better to book and cancel than not have an appointment.

Cheby · 22/06/2019 07:36

I take your point. But also I’m not suggesting she ignore the medical advice she has received from professionals.

Cheby · 22/06/2019 07:38

Also, my comment wasn’t really for the OP, but for people arguing against the safety of the drugs she is taking.

For the record, I think the OP should take the advice of her doctors and prescribing pharmacists about her medication, not any of us here.
