Are we ok with our soon to be PM being involved in a domestic 'argument'?

Enough to prompt a neighbour to call police?

There are enough red flags to light up Times Square.

NameChange9854 · 22/06/2019 01:26

I absolutely detest Boris Johnson but I agree that some are jumping to conclusions. I've been on the receiving end of DV which included my drunk, female roommate screaming and throwing mugs.

Could he have been abusive? Entirely possible. Cause for concern? Yes, but I don't think we have enough info to draw conclusions.

time4chocolate · 22/06/2019 01:26

I'm no particular fan of Boris but something is not adding up here - maybe she is the angry/controlling one in the relationship. She has certainly managed to turn around his appearance, changed him to a vegan diet and has been by his side throughout the last few weeks, maybe she has quite a hold over him and maybe he is just happy someone much younger is interested in him. Maybe he knocked the wine over onto her sofa and she flipped her lid. I have certainly seen this dynamic in a relationship at reasonably close hand before (my own next door neighbour as it happens and usually alcohol is involved).

Of course I could be very wrong but then maybe not.

Totur · 22/06/2019 01:28

Well the story has gone global.....

Totur · 22/06/2019 01:29

Oh surely it was her being abusive.... Poor old blustering Boris...

Notanidiot · 22/06/2019 01:32

And you are ever so pleased about that aren't you OP!

Totur · 22/06/2019 01:34

Yes, domestic violence is something that is never talked about and our future PM being involved in DV is something that needs to be discussed.

He needs to make a statement that he was the victim or else step down.

It's all very strange. I used to find him amusing, in small doses, but I'm not laughing now. Is there really no one better than him to take over as leader? I honestly think he couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery and has somehow been winging it through his whole career, changing his story/attitude to suit whoever he's talking to. I really hope something happens to stop him becoming PM.

To those theorising that maybe his partner was somehow being abusive - does BJ really strike you as the type to become a victim of female abuse, given his track record? He is so bombastic and confident, I can't believe any woman could subjugate him.

If it does transpire that he has been threatening or abusive towards his partner in some way, then the plus side is that he won't become PM. Which in turn means that maybe Rory Stewart could have a prominent role to play in the new cabinet (he's already stated he won't work under BJ). Silver lining to huge black cloud currently dominating UK politics.

Men in suits go home to wives and partners and abuse them.

It's not just unemployed men.

The wives of the suited and booted find it as hard to leave as the ones relying on benefits.

If he doesn't come out and make a statement that he was the victim, it means he was the perpetrator... The Tory party is screwed as it is with the other cunt assaulting a woman, so they need to do something.

Jeremy Corbyn is anti semite for being pro-Palestinian causes (I am too).

I know who I will support. And it sure as hell won't be abusive Tory men.

OP posts:
Totur · 22/06/2019 02:22

By that I mean that Palestine is a cause of mine, not that I'm anti-semite in case that came across incorrectly!

I'm not okay with Boris Johnson.

Totur · 22/06/2019 03:05

A lot of the elite are happy with him though - that's the problem.

FionasWineShow · 22/06/2019 04:20

I'm amazed that in a country of 65million people, Boris and Jeremy are as good as it gets.

Actually, I'm not surprised.

Politics is no longer a game for genuine, decent, caring, intelligent people.

It's Eton. That's it.

why don’t people like Jeremy Hunt

Because he is in large part responsible for decimating our NHS by systematic underfunding while he was Secretary of Health. Deliberate, callous, calculated. He is to
The NHS what Gove is to education.

Isatis · 22/06/2019 06:48

We don't know what happened, or what the neighbour heard

When what the neighbour heard has been recorded and the report is in part a transcript of that, I think we do have some idea of what they heard. Especially as it now seems to be corroborated by another neighbour.

longwayoff · 22/06/2019 07:12

Where's Jeremy Kyle when he's needed? Perhaps he can make a tv return with a Political special? Go a tad upmarket instead of solely exploiting the impoverished unwell.

Oliversmumsarmy · 22/06/2019 07:23

If he doesn't come out and make a statement that he was the victim, it means he was the perpetrator

So all the women who people here shouting and screaming from their houses who sound like they are being abused who don’t tell anyone are really the abusers?

cheesewitheverything · 22/06/2019 07:28

Its the front page headline of every newspaper this morning.

This is disturbing beyond belief. I’m not reading all the abuser apologists on this thread. You can’t even begin to play devils advocate in this case and if you think you can you must be thick.

Alsohuman · 22/06/2019 07:50

Precisely @smilethoyourheartisbreaking. Less than 24 hours after reaching the final two to become PM, his self control is so lacking that he’s put himself in this position. What matters isn’t what did or didn’t happen but that the police were called because there were concerns about his partner’s safety. Surely someone courting support would have the sense to behave impeccably for the few weeks during which people are making up their minds?

Was there something in the water in London on Thursday night? Johnson behaves at best like an idiot. Mark Field physically attacks a woman making a peaceful protest the same evening. I can understand male Tory voters rushing to defend them but am genuinely astonished that so many women seem to have drunk the Koolaid too.

Woody68 · 22/06/2019 07:50

If this is not a smear campaign, why did the neighbour decide to go public?
