Posting in AIBU for traffic. Not the mystic meg astrology, but birth charts, rising, sun, moon etc. I'm a Scorpio rising, Virgo cusp/libra sun and Taurus moon- after looking up what they meant they're strangely accurate Grin just curious to know!

It can be 'harmless fun', like all woo, but some people will actually base life decisions on it.

carla1983 · 21/06/2019 22:48

I believe in it.

SuperSara · 21/06/2019 22:49

Absolute 'woo' bollocks.

Anyone taking any interest in astrology should be sectioned.

evilharpy · 21/06/2019 22:53

I think astrology is more credible than God.

However I don't believe in either.

7Days · 21/06/2019 23:04

Chill out lads.

Think of it more like the questions at the back of a This Years Most Hyped Book Club Read.
It's just something to spark your thinking about personalities and motives and possible outcomes.

Gives you a place to start if you're confused with loads of information that you cant get started with processing.

Nobody takes it ultra seriously.

Mind you, it's a pity it has fallen out of fashion. Analysing yourself with regard to your Mercury in the third house is a much broader and rounded perspective than defining yourself as a demi sexual pan romantic ace, like the yoof of today are stuck on.

camelliavi · 21/06/2019 23:22

I must ask: is anybody else with Virgo in their charts extremely tidy? As in have their wardrobes organised by length and colour tidy? That is the stereotype apparently

This is really simple and here is my astrological forecast for the chronically stupid.
Tie a small mirror to broom handle.
Stick the mirror and handle out of an east facing window tonight.
Stick your naked arse out of the window and look in mirror at sunrise.
You will see the sun rising in Uranus!
Then you may receive some visitors from people in a car with flashing lights.

Or don’t be so ridiculous, it’s a con perpetrated on the vulnerable by people who should be shut down.

Darkcloudsandsunnydays · 21/06/2019 23:28

I can’t sleep when it’s a full moon. Explain that to me if there’s nothing in it. Is it because I am an Aries.

Poloshot · 21/06/2019 23:28

Absolute nonsense

Guavaf1sh · 21/06/2019 23:45

It’s a hobby for stupid people

Cooroo · 22/06/2019 00:00

UnaOfStormhold - love the F&S quote!

It is all bollocks and not entirely harmless if people make - or are induced to make - bad decisions on the basis of the stars.

sergeilavrov · 22/06/2019 01:30

I think it's important to have in society. It helps me avoid people who start mentioning star signs and limit all future interactions with them. A great indicator, I think! Wink

camelliavi · 22/06/2019 02:16

Grumpy, hahaha I loved your reply Grin

I think it's all harmless fun. Some aspects are a little strange and I'm going to look more into it for fun Smile if it is somehow connected to us- then it's another mystery of the universe!

OP posts:
camelliavi · 22/06/2019 02:20

I'll be watching the astrology debunked video and Jessica Adams on twitter too Smile

OP posts:
camelliavi · 22/06/2019 02:21

RickJames, that's interesting! Smile I feel similarly to you- my logical brain says no but the aspects of it all says maybe

OP posts:
camelliavi · 22/06/2019 02:23

Pa1oma, I find it odd especially how the Scorpio rising traits apply to me. I wonder if it's all real? If not, it's fun- I've had my chart drawn up and it was quite interesting

OP posts:
camelliavi · 22/06/2019 02:24

I'll have to watch the Carl Sagan video too Smile

OP posts:
camelliavi · 22/06/2019 02:25

To me, even if it's not credible, I agree with Skye- it's harmless fun 😊

Scorpio over here too just as an FYI. I 100% believe in starsigns, I'll find that people remind me a lot of someone else before finding out theyre the same starsign, and see a lot people that have 'stereotypical' traits. Me for one being near on mystic meg and having real intuition about others.
From a scientific point of view I also think a lot is to do with times of year people are born and linking that to how you were parented and treated, for example winter v summer babies and then being eldest in your year v youngest at school etc.

Skippingabeat · 22/06/2019 03:29

People from very different and varied cultures have believed in some type of astrology since thousands of years, so there must be some truth behind it, patterns that they have noticed and similarities between personalities who were born in the same year or month.

I also can't believe that our genetic make-up, which genes gets transmitted and which ones get expressed and those that don't is completely due to luck. It might very well be influenced by magnetic fields due to the planets' positions or whatever things we still don't understand.

People years ago used to believe that out physical features were related to our personality. Then they stopped believing in that because it can't be rooted in science and why would our personality have anything to do with the shape of our eyes or lips...Turns our it does because some genes related to personality are very close to genes related to how we look and they often get transmitted together.

Full moons create all kinds of weird! It's a known fact many full term pregnant women will go into labour on a full moon. My cousin recently had this, went into labour during full moon & local maternity hospital was full! Midwives told her the moon has a surprising effect on babies wanting to be born.

Mummadeeze · 22/06/2019 06:43

I can usually spot a Virgo because I don’t click with them. They annoy me and I annoy them. I also get on best with air signs. It isn’t just once or twice, there is a definite pattern. I do believe in it. I bought a book once about men and what type of arseh*le they are based on their star sign. It was a tongue in cheek, humorous book but my God was it accurate. The section on a Pisces partner could have been a 100% accurate description of my partner and his specific flaws. It was very accurate about an ex Gemini lover too who had very different issues.

Phoningliz · 22/06/2019 07:06

Full moons create all kinds of weird!

No they don't. Does A Full Moon Make People Mad

It's a known fact many full term pregnant women will go into labour on a full moon.

It's a known fact that this many women will, but no more than usual. Despite persistent reports of an association among the lunar cycle, gravitational pull and childbirth, careful statistical analyses have failed to identify an increase in the number of births during a full moon.
