Reading unusual story in todays Daily Mail.A couple who struggled to conceive adopted twin boys .The Adopted Mum felt she couldnt bond with them very well and also felt unwell .To her surprise she found out she was pregnant!.Felt terribly guilty she couldnt bond properly and spoke to the social workers about returning them ,they went back to care after just a couple of nights !.Feels guilty obviously ,but also just couldnt do it!(husband bonded well ) thinks its possibly due to her Hormones?Aapparently may not have been able to keep them long term as issue meaning they may need to be OC anyway!.Felt sorry for her and the babies TBH what does anyone else think?

1) Anyone who is SERIOUS about adoption ensures they won't become accidentally pregnant. Whether or not they have been told they are infertile. 0% chance of conceiving is really not common, the advice is to fully commit and let go of it if you are adopting. She clearly didn't. I suspect they carried on without protection, telling themselves they were infertile but secretly keeping their options open in their heart.

There are so many parent who have been ttc for years and believe either through medical advice or just experience they are not fertile. Once they get accepted to adopt the stress lessens and boom ... blue lines all the way.

I know 2 families where this happened - in neither case did the parents give the adopted children back.
First was in the 80s and there is only 11 months between the sisters.
2nd in the early 2ks, the parents adopted a family of 3, (after 5 years of not getting pregnant) they have since gone on to have 2 biologically. A lovely family with 5 beautiful children.

Yes social services know this. It's why, as a few people have stated, they ask couples to fully commit and use contraception.

We have been recently matched, it has taken nearly two years.

Not sure about the 'stress lessening'...

I could only half read the article, tbh.

Probably the best outcome, in fact. Just couldn't see how you would include it in a book.

Usually social services ask you to take sure fire contraception like implants so that this situation does not occur.
