To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

Friend of mine only ate chips and vitamin tablets for a couple of months as she had food issues.

She ended up with IBS. She’s studying for a nutrition qualification now as she learned the error of her ways.

I pretty much lived on crisps when I first left home to do my nurse training, the cooking facilities in the nurses accomadation where virtually non existent and anything you left in the 'kitchen' disappeared. I used to go home at weekends to start with and ate proper meals but Monday to Friday it was crisps! I actually lost about a stone but it's not exactly healthy and it didn't cure me of my love of crisps.

I get where you are coming from as I often eat the same thing for a meal often when I find something I like then have it too often and get fed up of it. The trouble with crisps Is there are so many varieties that I can't do it.

Could be worth a try though.

Following with interest as I love crisps too much too! I love how when you eat 1 salt and vinegar crisp and 1 cheese and onion crisp together they make picked onion flavour!

ScrambledSmegs · 21/06/2019 19:24

I love crisps too but think you're taking this a tad too far! Also I really hope you noticed the poster who mentioned the arsenic in rice cakes.

Doom-mongering over with - what flavours did you get?

Earlywalker · 21/06/2019 19:28

When I was in the thick of morning sickness, crisps were the only thing I could stomach without vomiting so I ate nothing but crisps for about 2 weeks. I didn’t die and all of my tests came back great, my child is perfect, except that she hates crisps, so she’s a bit weird I suppose Grin

Billballbaggins · 21/06/2019 19:37

Omg I love crisps too. In my student days, when I was hungover I ate 24 packets in a day (I drank lots of water too!) and it didn’t put me off. Never considered trying for a week or so to put myself off of them, genius OP!

annabelle1992 · 21/06/2019 19:46

@Earlywalker I feel like your child not liking crisps is proof the experiment could work...

BarryBarryTaylor · 21/06/2019 19:54

Inspired by this thread! 💙 sadly not a gin and tonic as I’m 34weeks pregnant but lime and lemon sparkling water is satisfying me for now!

Your

Fucking iPhone
Does anyone know how I keep autocorrect but stop them changing my normal words for something different?
It makes me sound thick and I hate it.

It never used to do this. I just want normal autocorrect.

Constipation. Eat crisps and figs.

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2019 20:10

I could forego the potatoey bits, but I could sprinkle the cheesey, salty flavouring on anything!

pippitypoppitypoo · 21/06/2019 20:12

Interesting! I did once eat nothing but mince pies for a few days. I did limit my intake to 5 a day but strangely, that was enough! Watching with interest. If you are successful with beating your crisp obsession I'm tempted to try the same with tea and biscuits!

Ivegotthree · 21/06/2019 20:17

I'm with you OP. Totally obsessed. It must be literal years since I went a day without at least one packet of crisps.

Crisps and a cold drink at 7.30pm. Nothing better.

Teateaandmoretea · 21/06/2019 20:23

I went through a phase when I was pregnant I of crisps being the only thing I could stomach. I survived, as did dd I'm not a massive crisp water normally but I didn't go off them either Grin

Onescaredmuma · 21/06/2019 20:29

I'm watching this if your successful I'll be trying it I love Crisps and could live quite happily live on pringles alone. Do onion rings and cheese balls count as I have a serious problem with those Blush

LunarPhase · 21/06/2019 20:42

I had my tonsils out two years ago and could only eat mushed up shreddies and cups of warm water for 10 days as everything else was too painful to swallow and made me want to cry. Still here to tell the tale!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 20:57

Oh no sorry, it couldn't work with tea and biscuits.

First of all, tea is far too wonderful and that would never happen.
Second of all, there are so many biscuits and all so lovely and great that you couldn't possibly get sick of them all.

Unless you did one at a time.

One week bourbons, another week Nice, the next chocolate digestives....

When I was preggo with ds 1 I had such bad morning sickness I lived on ketchup flavoured crisps and Coca Cola for about 8 weeks. It didn't do us any harm!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 22/06/2019 07:09

Cheeky practice run this morning.

But only because DS age the whole loaf of bread in one bloody day.

I really wish I hadn’t found this thread.

I love crisps.

I now want crisps.

It’s not even 8am.

Is it feasible for me to get dressed then waddle to M&S (closest shop) and but a pack of the salt and black pepper crisp shapes and a tub of humous and have that for breakfast?

Disclaimer. I’m 34 weeks pregnant with dc2.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 22/06/2019 08:00

In my early 20s I ate nothing but porridge (literally) as I lived abroad in somewhere with only a hob and was very poor.

I felt terrible. Just so tired and lacklustre.

And porridge is better than crisps. So I am not sure it's the greatest plan.

Housewife2010 · 22/06/2019 10:11

M&S have some fabulous new crisp flavours. You could try them every night as a treat during the crisp experiment.

AhoyDelBoy · 22/06/2019 10:15

If you die from crisps will your DP update the thread?
