To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

Mega crisp addiction, watch with interest! Xxxx

@banivani
Small bags of crisps in the UK are usually around 30g - sometimes less though (eg Space Raiders are 11.8g/pack & Skips are 13.1g/pack*) if they’re shaped ones rather than the traditional slices of potato. Bags that are bought individually (eg at train stations to eat on long journey) are usually bigger than those from multipacks, about 45-50g. There’s been some controversy over the so-called “grab-bag” size because the manufacturers suggest it’s meant to be 2 portions of crisps but of course people eat it in one go, not least because there’s no way to reseal the packaging. Bet you wish you hadn’t asked now...

*would like to make it clear I looked this up, am not font of crispy knowledge

Good luck with your experiment DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou. You are truly a noble pioneer. When Cadbury’s brought the Wispa bar back I considered seeing how much of one I could eat before I had to stab myself with my EpiPen, Because & For Science - didn’t really fancy explaining my pioneering genius in A&E though. Your experiment seems rather safer, as long as you keep an eye on your hydration & sodium intake... one thought though: what about crisp sandwiches? They are, after all, one of the great joys of eating crisps. Will you permit yourself to have one or two?

Tigger365 · 21/06/2019 01:31

Crisp sandwiches are the food of God’s. I can’t believe it took 9 pages for someone to mention them! Warburtons orange or green, proper butter.
The occasional cheese and onion walkers and banana is great for breakfast.

Those trying to give up chocolate....diabetic chocolate, and diary free chocolate. I promise it will put you off chocolate for a while at least.

@DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou, I’m rooting for you!!!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 07:56

I love crisp sandwiches. I don't think I can allow that though. I need to be true to the crisp. A crisp alone or it won't work.

I'm tempted to buy All The Crisps this
morning. I need to do it without the kids finding out because they will want to join in and it's not exactly a diet I want them to know about.

I survived a good chunk of university on just cheese and onion crisps and guinness, still love both.

Good luck OP!

Keep all crisps in the boot of the car in an anonymous looking bag.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 14:58

You read my mind.
I decided earlier to keep the crisps in my boot when I realised there is no where to truly hide them here.

I was in Asda this morning and I walked past a woman who had 7 multi packets of crisps ontop of her shopping.
I wondered if she was inspired by this thread! 😂

I would love to live off Tyrell’s balsamic vinegar and sea salt crisps with a side of pickled onions (I’m pregnant but I love these things anyway)

MightyWings · 21/06/2019 15:04

when are you starting dontbite?

likeafishneedsabike · 21/06/2019 15:39

That woman in Asda was definitely a mumsnetter!

NewSchoolNewName · 21/06/2019 16:05

Watching with interest.

I have big crisp issues. I doubt whether this sort of diet would kill my love of crisps for more than a week or two!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 16:18

Monday!

I remember reading a story in Take a Break (or some other crap mag) about a woman who had a huge crisp binge and ended up in kidney failure Shock Something to do with the salt content I think?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 16:42

Fuck sale FairyJuice!!

Stash small numbers of packets at a time in a cupboard/larder then play loud music/turn tv up to disguise munching

annabelle1992 · 21/06/2019 16:43

You'll be all good kidney wise with water 👍

annabelle1992 · 21/06/2019 16:44

I've done a hell of a lot worse to my kidneys/liver and still live to tell the tale

RuffleCrow · 21/06/2019 16:57

I'd be worried by all that salt followed by all that water combined with all that fat pushing your blood pressure sky high tbh. We don't know whether you have any existing health problems but if you do it could leave you vulnerable.

DirtyDennis · 21/06/2019 16:58

Shameless following

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 17:08

I have a blood pressure machine (student nurse) so I will add blood pressure to my diary.

Yeh 1 week will make v little difference I reckon

Redken24 · 21/06/2019 17:21

Haven't read the full thread but it's what my diet consisted of for the first 4 months of pregnancy

StraffeHendrik · 21/06/2019 17:26

Once I ate nothing but crisps for 3 days on a trek (planning error, thought I could buy food en route, couldn't!)

I got hungry. They dont fill you up right.

I do still really like crisps though, so I fear it will not cure you.

Xmasbaby11 · 21/06/2019 17:30

Honestly I think I'd be hungry. I love crisps but usually want a proper meal eventually, I'd say I couldn't get through the whole day.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/06/2019 18:30

Oh God I will be starving. I'm under no illusions there!

I'm fine with that.
