Aibu to prefer salad cream to mayo in a sandwich?

Which do you prefer to add to your sandwich, is it salad cream or mayo? For me it's definitely salad cream (has to be Heinz) as it has a tangy flavour and feels light compared to mayo which I think is heavy, with not much flavour just eggy really. A lot of sandwich shops / cafes still don't have salad cream, such as today the guy making my chicken and salad sandwich said I was the only regular customer who asks for salad cream as 'everyone' prefers mayo! As an aside can anyone tell me if I can buy little individual packets of salad cream anywhere to put in my handbag so I can stop hassling sandwich guy? So I need this very important question answered please!

I prefer salad cream but I'm aware that that makes me common.

Salad cream i use it instead of mayo in egg mayo, also pasta and chicken mixed with salad cream

Depends on what I’m having, egg is always mayo but chicken or ham is always salad cream. Tuna is a free for all!

Salad cream is at its best with mashed potatoes.

I much prefer salad cream. I bought a (small) jar of mayo to make egg mayonnaise but went back to making it with salad cream after a couple of tries. I also like it on chips

For me it's not a case that I 'prefer' salad cream to mayo - I actively dislike mayo. It's too claggy. So it's either salad cream or nothing for me!

As to where you can buy the sachets, the only place I've seen them is in a cash-and-carry such as Costco.

Salad Cream growing up in the 60s/70s - then Mayo became the thing to have - rediscovered salad cream last year, lovely stuff! With gala pie, new potatoes and salad and if that makes me common I couldn’t care less!

I like salad cream in certain circumstances. I love mayonnaise but you can't beat a mayonnaise/salad cream mix with boiled new potatoes and some chives and/or spring onions.

Hate mayo, it's so greasy and bland but love SC, no competition. However, I'm common and Northern.

I found my people then! I love salad cream in all of these sandwiches - cheese, lettuce and cucumber, tuna and cucumber, ham/chicken with any kind of salad and particularly nice with avocado - all these served with a strong cup of Tetley's tea! Also, it's fab on warm baby potatoes. All suggests welcome, keep them coming!

I don't mean to upset you, OP, but 'still don't'? They're not going to either. I saw something recently about how only old people even know what salad cream is. It'll be extinct soon.

Never thought of mixing the two, must try the new taste sensation!
