So here we are in sunny Menorca celebrating a friend’s big birthday. In a villa with a pool , table tennis , pool table, beer in the fridge, music. Arrived Friday and so far every night they’ve been out for a last beer after a night out. So ...... they went shopping to get food for a bbq 4 hours ago ... are we being unreasonable

You're on holiday, some of the group went shopping for food and had a few drinks while out. What's the problem? Just do your own thing and enjoy your holiday!

If you haven't been drinking, nip out and get food for yourselves. If they do eventually return with BBQ food, it can go in the fridge for tomorrow. Don't sit around waiting, getting hungry, be proactive and get on with organising your evening meal. Who is the person having the landmark birthday? One of the people who has buggered off shopping?

Perhaps this is their tactful way of telling you they aren't enjoying your company...
