So here we are in sunny Menorca celebrating a friend’s big birthday. In a villa with a pool , table tennis , pool table, beer in the fridge, music. Arrived Friday and so far every night they’ve been out for a last beer after a night out. So ...... they went shopping to get food for a bbq 4 hours ago ... are we being unreasonable

Couples holiday, husbands went to get food for BBQ, came back 4 hours later pissed as farts?

My friends and I would have been making merry ourselves during that 4 hours. If we got bored, we would have left a note and gone somewhere ourselves. If we were hungry we would have eaten (in or elsewhere). We certainly wouldn't have sat around waiting for the menz to get back.
