To ask how many shoes do you have downstairs

JamB4cream · 18/06/2019 12:46

2 adults & 2 teens,

Just been around and counted 39 pairs of shoes hanging around downstairs (including boots, flipflops, slippers) so nearly 10 pairs each.

Is this unusual?
Some are neatly on a shoe rack, some are on a boot rack, loads are just hanging around near doors.

One. The pair I am about to put on to go out.

megletthesecond · 18/06/2019 12:50

I'm at work but I'd guess around 25 pairs between three of us. Nothing fancy, just work and school shoes, casual trainers and sport trainers really. Don't keep shoes upstairs.

ThatsUnusual · 18/06/2019 12:51

4, currently living on the stairs.

I have two pairs of hiking boots (one for clean walks, one for muddy walks), a pair of 'town' trainers and a pair of running trainers.

I've used two pairs today, the other two were used yesterday...

Alsohuman · 18/06/2019 12:51

None. My shoes are kept upstairs, one pair is put on in the morning, removed at bed time and put away.

21daysofsummer · 18/06/2019 12:52

All of them - shoes in the bedroom is Envy

CassianAndor · 18/06/2019 12:53

trainers x 3
sandals x 2
boots x 1
flip flops x 1

I should really move the boots and the sports trainers upstairs as I'm not wearing them much.

Sux2buthen · 18/06/2019 12:53

Around 3657 pairs. Well it seems like it

LaurieMarlow · 18/06/2019 12:55

None. They’re all upstairs. Well apart from a pair of wellies in the cupboard under the stairs.

Marv1nGay3 · 18/06/2019 12:56

Way too many! Can’t face counting them!

JaceLancs · 18/06/2019 12:56

None - unless you count those belonging to DS who has a bedroom downstairs (behind a firmly closed door)

Crunchymum · 18/06/2019 12:56

We have a shoe rack but I'd say between 2 adults and 2 DC there are about 40 pairs.

I do try to put what we aren't using away but the weather is so changeable? So we have wellies, flip flops, boots, sandals, trainers.

I know I have about 10 pairs on the rack and DD has loads too.

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 12:59

There is about five pairs by the back door.

In two hidden wicker baskets in the front hallway there is quite a few. None are out except my flip flops and my husband's garden shoes which we use to pop in and put with.

AuntieMarys · 18/06/2019 12:59

Two of us have about 20 pairs in a shoe cupboard in the hall.
I have a further 30 pairs in an ottoman bed Shock

BlackCatsRock · 18/06/2019 13:08

I'm shocked by how many pairs of shoes some of you have!!

It's just me and my 12 year old son. All shoes are downstairs (we live in a bungalow 😄). I own 5 pairs of shoes. My son owns 5 pairs of shoes.

WishIwas19again · 18/06/2019 13:13

Per adult: 4 each in a rack (work shoes, fashion trainers, sandals, hiking shoes), and we both have one pair of wellies under the stairs

Per child: they each only have one pair of trainers and one pair of wellies

Total: 14 pairs downstairs

We each have another approx 6 pairs upstairs either smarter wedding/heels/winter boots

blaaake · 18/06/2019 13:13

None! We all have wardrobes that have shelving for shoes, and they go there. I hate people's shoes being downstairs on display

Alsohuman · 18/06/2019 13:18

Oh dear @BlackCatsRock, I’ve got upwards of 70 pairs!

ElectricLions · 18/06/2019 13:18

Each teen Ds has 3 pair of trainers, school shoes, hiking boots, and flip flops (that they wear to martial arts so they remove them and do it in bare feet.)

They are bought through sales/freeport places so always cheap as their feet are growing although Ds1 seems to have stopped, but he is 16.

I have 6 pairs of boots, 7 pair of shoes and then summer flipflops maybe 4 pair?

Dh has around 9 pairs of footwear. All our shoes live in a massive storage system off the hall. So none upstairs.

MinesaPinot · 18/06/2019 13:22

Oh Blimey BlackCatsRock don't come round ours. I've definitely got in the region of 40-50 pairs of shoes/boots, and that's without my flipflops/flat sandals, 2 pairs of ballet shoes and one pair of tap shoes (not sure if they count!). DH has got upwards of 8 or 9 pairs.

And don't get me started on my handbags.....!

LizB62A · 18/06/2019 13:22

All of them are downstairs except for smart sandals which live in my bedroom

BlackCatsRock · 18/06/2019 13:24

@Alsohuman and @MinesaPinot
Shock I am truly shocked! Why so many?

nutbrownhare15 · 18/06/2019 13:25

We have shoe racks which hold about 3 pairs for each person (2 adults 1 child). Plus wellies in the porch. I took a few upstairs recently which were hanging around.

blackteasplease · 18/06/2019 13:25

Far too many!

bringthethunder · 18/06/2019 13:26

Sounds about the same as my house, although I just forced the household to have a clear out at the weekend as I was sick of being rained on by shoes every time I opened the cupboard!

I have one of these canvas shelving units in my "dookit" - aka large walk-in cupboard where we store shoes. Currently all looks very neat & tidy, lined up on their little shelf - because I lost my rag on Saturday and everyone ran around in terror clearing up to appease the crazy lady. Give it another day or two, and it will be back to a knee-high pile of shoes, shin guards, Astroturf 'dirt' , odd socks and old grass. My rage will begin to simmer again Grin

TantricTwist · 18/06/2019 13:27

About as many as you OP downstairs, we take them off the minute we get home.

I hate keeping shoes upstairs, all those germs on the soles from outside, bleurgh.
