To ask when you started to feel ‘old’?

I didn’t feel old until the birthday just gone but suddenly it’s hit me like a ton of bricks that I’m old now and getting older fast!
I don’t know if it’s like a mid life crisis but time suddenly seems to have sped up and be running out. I no longer feel like there are a lot of opportunities for me and this time is now just ‘waiting time.’
It’s very depressing!

But then I got rid of my husband, got fit, found a brilliant job and a wonderful new fella.

Feel young again now at 45!

Ihatehashtags · 16/06/2019 19:34

39 definitely feeling old

nokidshere · 16/06/2019 19:36

Tonight when I'm all dressed up and ready to go out to a fab place for dinner and all I really want to do is put my pjs on and watch Handmaids Tale. I'm 58 Grin

NorthEndGal · 16/06/2019 19:36

It was when my youngest was no longer a teen.
I have adults, not kids. It's weird.

nokidshere · 16/06/2019 19:37

@NorthEndGal I know that feeling too... I booked a table for 4 adults tonight

ethelfleda · 16/06/2019 19:37

How old are you, OP?
Much of it is a state of mind. I’m 35 and feel like a wreck Grin
My wonderful MIL is over 60 and she is so young. She’s amazing - is an artist, looks great and is always full of energy.

cuppycakey · 16/06/2019 19:39

I am 54 this year and still don't feel old! Grin

Gingercarrier · 16/06/2019 19:44

I'm nearly 48 and don't FEEL old. However I think I'm starting to LOOK older. It's shit ...

girlandboy · 16/06/2019 19:50

My knees started aching on my 40th birthday which made me feel old. I'm now 53, riddled with arthritis and my face looks old now too.
Bit depressing really.

PeoplesFrontOfJudith · 16/06/2019 19:50

When all the music / tv shows that we’re part of my late teens/early 20s (and key events) started hitting their 20/25th Anniversaries Sad Things like the Gulf War being part of history lessons.

Don’t pay much attention to my age otherwise, just enjoy life as it comes!

Notashandyta · 16/06/2019 19:51

Suddenly feel and look older. Got 3 under 5 tho, so that may have something to do with it. Hoping I may bounce back a bit!

Funny thing is I'm 4 stone heavier than when i was 30 yet far more confident in my body now Smile

Broombroomshaketheroom · 16/06/2019 19:51
  1. After a year of being poorly after having my DS and endless sleepless nights. I stopped getting ID'd soon after.

Turns out I had a thyroid problem 😁 6 weeks of drugs and I'm feeling about 29 again!

Jellykat · 16/06/2019 19:57

Last year when my Osteoarthritis really kicked in, and when i lost even more weight due to my workload.. i have developed jowls and cant seem to fluff up my face again, no matter what i eat!

shiningstar2 · 16/06/2019 19:57

Felt really young between 35 and 45. Went to university and started a new career. Didn't really start to feel old until this year ...67. Very grateful to have a lovely husband and no health problems but I think its that my two grandchildren at nearly 11 and 14 are bigger than me and my lovely grandson has a voice which is deeper than my husbands! Somehow the years have speeded up and being aware that I am only 3 years off 70 has concentrated my mind and made me realize that if there are still things I really want to do/see I better start getting on with them pdq Grin

justeatasalad · 16/06/2019 19:58

Last night when everyone in the pub was 20 years younger than me and after a couple of g &ts I said to dh let's go home and I went and put my pjs on and caught up with killing eve .

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 16/06/2019 19:59

When I saw a SNES in a museum - my first TV games console I bought in 1992.

ooooohbetty · 16/06/2019 19:59

When I realised I would find it really hard to find another job at my age. When I realised I wouldn't be able to change careers. When I couldn't get up out of a chair without making a weird noise.

mimibunz · 16/06/2019 19:59

At 51 I’m aware that it’s on the horizon.

Iwalkedaway · 16/06/2019 20:00

I’m 38 and don’t feel old at all! I still feel very young and in fact, in the best shape of my life! Grin

cricketmum84 · 16/06/2019 20:02

Haha I'm 35 and have a 14 year old, that makes me feel quite old. I work in a payroll/HR role and have been setting up new employees this month born in 2002 😳 now that made me feel very old!

Megan2018 · 16/06/2019 20:03

I’m 41 and pregnant with first baby. Not feeling old yet!
But I have a family that live long and well, my parents are 70 but look 50’s, Dad still works through choice. Grandma is nearly 93 and lives independently-tbh she is inly just starting to look “old”. We have good genes Grin

GiggleMcDimples · 16/06/2019 20:03

37 here and don't feel old.

Mammajay · 16/06/2019 20:04

When people started offering me their seat on the bus!

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 16/06/2019 20:04

When my ex hired someone born in 1999.

About a year after I had my son.

When my knees and hips ache Grin

SpitefulBreasts · 16/06/2019 20:08

I'm 61 and I'm definitely not old, I love my grey hair and I've actually lost weight and I'm much more confident now. Although op I do understand the feeling of -is this it- it's a trite and old saying but try and count your blessings. Another old phrase is life is what you make it. I do remember hitting 45 and thinking oh God, I'm old and it'll be downhill from now on. But it's not! It's really not! Flowers Seriously it does get better.
When you reach the age I am now, you'll be thinking wtf was I worrying about.
