To ask when you started to feel ‘old’?

I didn’t feel old until the birthday just gone but suddenly it’s hit me like a ton of bricks that I’m old now and getting older fast!
I don’t know if it’s like a mid life crisis but time suddenly seems to have sped up and be running out. I no longer feel like there are a lot of opportunities for me and this time is now just ‘waiting time.’
It’s very depressing!

I started feeling that I look old at 39/40. I don't feel old yet though. I'm 43.

50th birthday!
Suddenly realised that my body wasn’t keeping up with my mind!
Also, that I had been caring for everyone else since I was 10 and although married, was still waiting to be cared for!

Oh! And old lady eyes....why cant I see the paper without stretching my arms?!😂😜🤣🤪🙄

ragged · 16/06/2019 20:13

40s? When I started to realise I was remember stuff that happened 30+ yrs ago. That's a long time!

Today I feel like there are still lots of opportunities & there is a lot more than waiting time in my life. Getting old has nothing to do with no more opportunities or 'waiting' time.

wildcherries · 16/06/2019 20:14

42 soon and chronic health problems getting worse. I have days where I feel very old. And days where I'm OK.

I'm told I look to be in the early 30s though. I guess that's something.

DerbyRacer · 16/06/2019 20:16

48

Isatis · 16/06/2019 20:21

I’m in denial. I’m older than most of the people on this thread, but I refuse to admit I’m old. Except when claiming some of the benefits like cheap travel, of course.

Kahlua4me · 16/06/2019 20:25

When I realised that I was 21 over 30 years ago!

missyB1 · 16/06/2019 20:26

On my 50th Birthday last year I suddenly felt scared about getting old. I’ve had a hard year with lots of stress and my mum passed away - which made me think about my own mortality. I’m also at the height of my menopause and feel exhausted every day.

I’m sort of hoping that I get a new lease of life when the menopause is over.

jennymanara · 16/06/2019 20:28

When I realised I had already lived more years behind me, than ahead of me.
When my kids are learning things as "history" in school that I actually lived through.

ssd · 16/06/2019 20:29

50

But I had a word with myself.

panzotti · 16/06/2019 20:30

54 and I feel old only when I have to make big life changing decisions as it is more difficult to deal with big mistakes: less time ahead!

Spinnaret · 16/06/2019 20:40

Today. Went out for a walk with friends and the path was really slippery with mud underfoot on the way back downhill. I was so nervous of falling and hurting myself. I am 47. And did not expect to feel like this until my 60s. Blush

thenightsky · 16/06/2019 20:42

Last year at 59 and when I realised I would never be able to run again (ex-marathon woman) due to rapidly increasing osteoarthritis. I won't lie, it depresses me massively and I often lie awake at night, in pain from my hip and a count the possible years I have left and cry. Sad

ssd · 16/06/2019 20:50

Och I am sorry thenightsky. That sounds tough. Flowers

Tinysarah1985 · 16/06/2019 20:53

These last few months. I've started getting grey hairs on my head, my daughter keeps telling me every morning "you're 34 now mummy" and i got a new phone two weeks ago, and i feel like my mum trying to figure out how to use it!

dudsville · 16/06/2019 20:56

I don't know if I feel old. I do have a big change in my preferences as to how I spend my time over the last few years. I quite happily feel an end to all the striving and the ability to sit back and enjoy what I've created.

ssd · 16/06/2019 20:56

34,your a baby

BlueMerchant · 16/06/2019 21:00

35/36 I felt the youth slipping out of me.
I always looked young for my age and it was around this age I realized I hadn't been asked for ID for a year or two.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 16/06/2019 21:01

I'm 46 and I've only just started to feel like I might be a proper grown-up!

SolitudeAtAltitude · 16/06/2019 21:01

I started feeling old and past it at 35....

At 48 I feel young and with it Grin

I can see my crepey skin, I feel my achy knees, but I feel that if I give in now there's no way back Grin

Sunshinegirlgogogo · 16/06/2019 21:02

I am 55 and I don’t feel old.
Of course, when I look in the mirror, I see a woman of 55, but that still doesn’t make me feel old......I am the same person that I was when I was younger;-))

Babdoc · 16/06/2019 21:03

36 - which was when I got my widow’s pension.

amusedbush · 16/06/2019 21:36

I’m 29 and not only did I spend today looking at tiles in Wickes, I considered stopping at the cafe next door for a cream tea.

I didn’t expect to turn into my mother so early Grin

goodluckandgodspeed · 16/06/2019 21:39

I’m 36 - I would like to wind the clock back at least 10 years.
Seriously feeling like my life is over at the moment, I know it’s ridiculous.

When I read the Style supplement that comes with the Sunday Times and there's lots of articles on #living your best life and #doing it for the gram and other insta and 'woke' speak. I don't use Instagram.
