My beautiful cat has died suddenly and I’m in so much pain. I don’t know how to get through the day. I have no one to talk to. My heart is broken.
Also last night someone stole my security camera from outside and that has unnerved me a lot. It’s nothing compared to my bereavement but I’m scared and the police haven’t been helpful.
I just can’t stop crying and I feel like I will never get over losing my cat. I loved him so much.

VickyEadie · 15/06/2019 18:10

My sympathies - my dog died six weeks ago and the pain was awful. Still grieving now, but it's copable with.

BurntSausage · 15/06/2019 18:10

Oh my gosh you poor thing 😔 sending you love. They break our hearts, these animals. Remember all the good times x

edgen2019 · 15/06/2019 18:11

So sorry to hear about your cat, my sympathies.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/06/2019 18:15

Oh, OP, your post made me so sad for you. Cat-lover here, too, and I still desperately miss my mogs. The oldest one died four years ago and we're still to my chagrin a cat-free home; DH is very resistant to having any more. It hurt so much when we lost them. Sending you a big hug, if you'd like one.

73kittycat73 · 15/06/2019 18:16

I'm so sorry to hear of the pain that you're in. I was devastated when I lost my lovely boy. I found [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/Animals-Afterlife-Kim-Sheridan/dp/1848502427/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&keywords=animals+and+the+afterlife&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1560618874&sr=1-1 this]] book helped a lot. Sending hugs to you. (((Hug))) Flowers

I am so, so sorry for your loss. It's heartbreaking. My daughters call my cat 'the favourite child'. Quite often, they're not wrong. You poor thing.

CountryGirl1234 · 15/06/2019 18:20

Bless you, time is a healer. My horse was like a son to me. I lost him early 20’s (he was 11) more than 10 years later I still think about him daily. I still cry when I think of how much I loved and miss him. Thoughts are with you x

MyOpinionIsValid · 15/06/2019 18:21

Flowers what was your cat called, would it help to talk about him?

Looobyloo · 15/06/2019 18:28

It's so hard isn't it. I lost weight, was drawn and was so, so sad when my 4 years old got poorly then we had to put him to sleep, I cried for weeks but day by day it got less.
Cry and cry then cry some more, time is a great healer. I'm very sorry Flowers

Pollywollydolly · 15/06/2019 18:32

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Sending you hugs xx

Littleheart5 · 15/06/2019 18:42

I’m so sorry, I’ve been through the same. I have to say what really helped me was going to my local rescue centre and adopting another one. Not as a replacement but as a new little pal to take care of and to have as company around the house. It really really helped me

Madratlady · 15/06/2019 18:42

I’m so sorry 💐
I still miss the cat we lost last autumn, he was such a special cat. It gets easier though x

carla1983 · 15/06/2019 18:56

So sorry OP. I was devastated when my cat dropped dead suddenly in front of me. Took about a year for the grief to pass. A lot of people didn't understand why I cared so much.

Axlcat · 15/06/2019 19:05

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Please don’t feel that you are not allowed to hurt this deeply. You loved him and what you are feeling is deep grief. Please do speak to someone about your feelings. The Blue Cross have a pet bereavement service - you can call and speak to someone who will understand. www.bluecross.org.uk/pet-bereavement-and-pet-loss
Best wishes to you and be kind to yourself

weleasewoderick22 · 15/06/2019 19:25

My sympathies, I lost my cat 2 weeks ago when some bastard ran him over.

I read a lovely post by Sophie Dahl on Instagram yesterday as she had lost her cat too. It really made me cry! I felt much better after though because she loved her cat as much as I loved mine and didn't make me feel silly for being so sad.

Thanks for you. I know exactly how you're feeling.

MustardScreams · 15/06/2019 19:27

I’m so sorry. It’s a bloody awful thing to happen, especially if it happened suddenly. Be kind to yourself, and talk on here if you want to. Sending you strength Flowers

AguerosAngel · 15/06/2019 20:01

Oh OP I’m so sorry, I have four cats and they’re like my children, I love them so much.

Sending UnMumsnetty hugs Flowers

Candymay · 15/06/2019 21:15

It’s so unbearable. I can’t see how I’ll ever recover from this. Really unbeatable pain and loss. Thank you so much for the lovely replies. I don’t know how I’ll cope. He was cremated yesterday and they will post his ashes back to me. Totally shocked still. I had to hold him. I need to go back to the vet because the nurse said she would keep a bit of his fur for me. I loved him. He suffered so much. I really can’t cope.

Candymay · 22/06/2019 20:36

It was sudden. It happened on the 11th June. Well it was over the weekend that it happened and then on Tuesday the 11th I was called and told to come to the vets and let him die. It was so awful and shocking. I can’t put into words how I feel. His beautiful face. Everything about him. He didn’t deserve this awful end to his life. He suffered so much.

I am so sorry. They really are just like people. It must be heartbreaking.

myusernameisnotmyusername · 23/06/2019 00:06

I'm so sorry for you. I would be devastated if I lost my cat. You are totally right to feel upset over your cat of course.
