To think people need to stop viewing Boris Johnson as a loveable buffoon?

He's nasty and astute

He hangs around with horrible bigots who support eugenics, like Steve Bannon.

He cannot manage a day without having to publicly apologise for some dreadful remark he made.

He is even more likely to carry on heaping austerity on the sick and disabled than any other Tory leader.

When he was mayor he closed 10 fire stations in London.

He's dangerous and he doesn't give a fuck about anyone. I can't think of a worse proposition for PM.

Speaking of re runs of anti democratic votes, let's start with referendums that break electoral law.

MoominMantra · 14/06/2019 13:01

He didn't 'make a go of it' Queen, he closed 10 fire stations 😡

OP posts:
babysharkah · 14/06/2019 13:01

Totally agree but who the fuck else is there? No one.

Magicpaintbrush · 14/06/2019 13:02

I agree OP, absolutely. He is very Machiavellian. God knows what goes on behind closed doors, but I am sure his main priority is his own self advancement and not the good of the country.

Whosorrynow · 14/06/2019 13:03

Anyone who desires power should be excluded from accessing it by virtue of their desire for it

dreichuplands · 14/06/2019 13:03

Boris is a lot more dangerous than his shaggy dog persona would suggest.
Having pushed for Brexit there would be a certain karma in watching him try and make it work.
If we withdraw by November that is only the beginning of sorting out Brexit, he would have a great deal of hard difficult work ahead.
Just for the record I don't think Corbyn would do any better but for different reasons. Not supporting the hard right doesn't make you a supporter of the hard left by default.
I am also a person with a will that should be counted.

Whosorrynow · 14/06/2019 13:04

(My sentence construction may be lacking but I hope my point is evident)

Gth1234 · 14/06/2019 13:04

Who believes this shite at all anymore?

everyone who sees labour and libdems, and others doing everything they can to frustrate the referendum result.

It's like Lord of the rings. Leavers are good shire-folk hobbits, contending valiantly with the dumb orc forces ranged against them. The screaming hatred of that Siobhan Prigent is a typical example. The evil comments of Jo Brand is another. The BBC are their publicity section.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/06/2019 13:04

I couldn’t agree more MoominMantra. I see he’s now agreed to take part in the C4 & BBC debates so hopefully others will start to see it too.

MoominMantra · 14/06/2019 13:06

Ahh. Gth is just a hardcore leaver who would be happy to see the entire UK razored to the ground as long as we leave the EU.

RussianSpamBot · 14/06/2019 13:06

If having won a couple of London mayoral contests before the voters got fed up of you is relevent, presumably that means Ken Livingstone is a decent candidate for PM too. Fuck, could you imagine?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/06/2019 13:06

Sorry scrap that he hasn’t confirmed he’ll do the Sunday C4 debate.

Magicpaintbrush · 14/06/2019 13:07

Will there ever be a time when we get a PM who is competent, down to earth, has walked in the same shoes as the less privileged in society, who has the country's best interest at heart and is not in it for their own career advancement - somebody who genuinely intends to do some good and is competent enough to achieve that? Because I can't think of a single PM who has fit the bill for decades.

Whosorrynow · 14/06/2019 13:11

Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees mogg.... a pair of snakes
a short fat one and a long thin one but still snakes

Gth1234 · 14/06/2019 13:15

@MoominMantra

and stop taking part in Eurovision. Another excuse for the EU to try to humiliate the UK.

dreichuplands · 14/06/2019 13:15

That made me smile Gth. While not seeing myself as an orc I do agree that we do not get to choose the times in which we live.
I think that hobbits were meant to represent middle Englanders but in Tolkien's world they identified the forces of fascism and fought them, to be fair orcs were pretty obviously not a good thing but if you squint you might see Bannon looks a bit orcish?

Pinkmouse6 · 14/06/2019 13:16

Completely agree. He reminds me of Trump in that sense. It was the same with Hitler tbf, everyone laughed and joked at first...

RussianSpamBot · 14/06/2019 13:17

Mate, don't come for Eurovision!

MoominMantra · 14/06/2019 13:19

Er, what's Eurovision I don't even watch that shit.

I'm busy worrying about important stuff like my children's futures.

OP posts:
CitadelsofScience · 14/06/2019 13:28

I only nipped to the shop, how has Eurovision shite become part of the thread? Who even watches it anyway?

2010Aussie · 14/06/2019 13:29

Boris was a complete disaster as Foreign Secretary- he will make an even bigger hash of being PM. I cannot understand why anyone wants to see him in the top job.

His decision to lead the Leave campaign was pure selfish ambition - he thought it would give him a chance of being PM and people were stupid and gullible enough to be taken in by him.

MoominMantra · 14/06/2019 13:34

@CitadelsofScience Gth thinks we should leave the EU because of how 'disrespected' the UK was at Eurovision.

The hubris of those wanting to leave at any cost has become a thing of legend.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn and his mob are fucking saints.

Because hating BJ means one must love JC? Pretty simplistic way of looking at things. Oddly, I possess the ability to despise many politicians all at once. It's a gift.

This thread was specifically about BJ. Start one about JC and see the things people have to say about that bag of wank, by all means.

StormTreader · 14/06/2019 13:51

Absolutely not. All of our "top tier" politicians are where they are because they come from the right families, went to oxford/cambridge, and have played the boys club game for years.
Anyone not part of the polo and champers set would never make it high enough in their own parties to be any kind of contender for a serious government office.
