To ask for your best crime dramas

In bed with a bad back. Bored and in pain so watching TV for distractions.

I love watching crime dramas. I don't mind stand alone episode stories but prefer watching stories that run over a few episodes. I really don't like anything super natural. Just a story with a mystery.

I feel like I have watched most of them but there must be some I have missed?

Am I unreasonable to ask for suggestions?

I have even watched a lot of European ones.

I mean dramas such as

The killing, The tunnel, Unforgotten, Baptiste and the missing, Cardinal,Guilt, Paranoid, Safe house, Absentia, Happy valley ,Luther, The sinner.

There must be some I have missed?

Not read all the replies but just had to offer Waking The Dead! Probably still one of my favourite ever crime related dramas....in fact, I think I'm gonna watch it again! It's been too long

Aberforthsgoat · 13/06/2019 10:58

is there anywhere to watch Waking The Dead for free? Doesn't seem to be on netflix and seems like you have to buy it on prime?

k1233 · 13/06/2019 11:09

There's Whitechapel too

PutyourtoponTrevor · 13/06/2019 11:14

Hinterland if it's not been mentioned. I enjoyed Broadchurch, binge watched all 3 series recently

WatcherOfTheNight · 13/06/2019 11:38

Another vote for The Wire ,it's one of my top 5 all time favourites.

Agree with lots recommended by Pp & will add :

Rookie Blue
The shield
Blue Bloods

WatcherOfTheNight · 13/06/2019 11:41

I'm sure they normally have free trial deals for prime that you can cancel after a few weeks ?

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/06/2019 11:52

Ripper Street if you don’t mind your crime being Victorian.

Life on Mars if you don’t mind your crime being 1970s.

There was a great french one called The Disappearance on BBC4 a couple of years ago, really engrossing, great actors and lots of shots of the beautiful city of Lille.

species5618 · 13/06/2019 12:21

May I suggest Chernobyl. It plays out almost like a crime drama over 5 episodes with the govt of the (then) CCCP as the bad guys.
Both horrifying and riveting.

Vilanelle · 13/06/2019 12:32

Killing Eve!

Nomad86 · 13/06/2019 12:56

Montalbano. Set in Sicily. It's subtitled but brilliant.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/06/2019 13:04

Chernobyl was a brilliant drama.

mrswilson2 · 13/06/2019 13:41

Spiral , French detective drama.

ThanksForThatt · 13/06/2019 13:47

It's not really a crime drama but I liked The Miracle on Sky if you don't mind subtitles.

Broadchurch or The Bay are also good police dramas.

CandleWithHair · 14/06/2019 14:43

This thread has literally made me LOL. Thank the heavens for MN glitches. #Hinterland

SherlockHolmes · 14/06/2019 14:49

Endeavour is really well made and worth watching.

I love crime drama but found Top of the Lake ridiculous, ditto Fortitude.

The Bridge, The Killing and Follow the Money are good Scandi dramas.

Line of Duty superb.

Funkyslippers · 14/06/2019 14:50

Safe & Happy Valley

SummerWhisper · 15/06/2019 11:07

Rebecka Martinsson

No Offence - brilliant and hilarious

zukiecat · 15/06/2019 11:16

I don't like crime dramas generally, but one I do watch and love is Shetland.

I only started watching it because it's set in Shetland, but it's outstanding.

The first couple of series are stand alone episodes, but the last couple of series have been one story told in 6 episodes.

gemdrop84 · 15/06/2019 11:31

Broadchurch
Line of Duty
Waking the Dead
Touch of Frost
Whitechapel
Luther
Criminal Minds

PutyourtoponTrevor · 15/06/2019 11:40

Oh I forgot about no offence, watched it recently, absolutely brilliant

MonnieMoo · 15/06/2019 12:26

The Killing
Black Spot
Jordskott
Requiem

MonnieMoo · 15/06/2019 12:26

Sharp Objects

QuestionableMouse · 15/06/2019 12:29

Justified. It's bloody brilliant and has great story lines that span the entire season.
