To ask for your best crime dramas

In bed with a bad back. Bored and in pain so watching TV for distractions.

I love watching crime dramas. I don't mind stand alone episode stories but prefer watching stories that run over a few episodes. I really don't like anything super natural. Just a story with a mystery.

I feel like I have watched most of them but there must be some I have missed?

Am I unreasonable to ask for suggestions?

I have even watched a lot of European ones.

I mean dramas such as

The killing, The tunnel, Unforgotten, Baptiste and the missing, Cardinal,Guilt, Paranoid, Safe house, Absentia, Happy valley ,Luther, The sinner.

There must be some I have missed?

Law and Order Special Victims Unit.

Accountant222 · 12/06/2019 20:45

Prison Break on Netflix is good

30not13 · 12/06/2019 20:46

Bodyguard on iplayer
Unforgotten was on Netflix recently not if still is but Hinterland is I suspect
Happy Valley

MrsTommyBanks · 12/06/2019 20:46

I've really got into Waking the Dead and Silent Witness lately.
Lots of episodes of the latter on BBC iPlayer.

Elderflower14 · 12/06/2019 20:47

Harrow is fantastic.
Instinct is excellent too.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 12/06/2019 20:47

Midsomer Murders
Rosemary and Thyme
Bletchley Circle

cheesydoesit · 12/06/2019 20:48

What Remains is on iPlayer at the moment, I really enjoyed that. Also, if you have uktv on demand then the first 16 episodes of Trial and Retribution is available. There's a good film on Netflix called Osmosis (Spanish) which was good and yes, Hinterland is worth a watch Wink

LisaLops · 12/06/2019 20:48

I’m watching wire in the blood on amazon prime at the moment. Really good and gritty crime drama x

ShinyMe · 12/06/2019 20:48

I vote for Shetland! I love it.

Each series is one story over maybe 6 episodes (early series might have been 3, I'm not sure) with an ongoing story about the cops as well. The main detectives are really interesting, it's set in a great location, and it's quite dark overall. There are some fantastic characters too.

DuesToTheDirt · 12/06/2019 20:48

Channel 4 catchup World Drama has some good ones, particularly French ones. Try The Frozen Dead and Beside the Lake, amongst others.

Oh for gods' sake! It's all posting twice.

I second Spiral, it's just so fab. Definitely my absolute favourite.

Another thing I really enjoyed recently was In Plain Sight - it's only 3 parts, based on a true story, and is utterly bloody terrifying. Very Scottish, has Douglas Henshall and Martin Compston.

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 12/06/2019 20:51

Marcella with Anna Friel on Netflix.

For laughs New Hawaii five 0 and new Magnum PI I like watching these when I’m not in the mood for something dark.

There was a new series recently ‘The Coroner’ that was good

lhastingsmua · 12/06/2019 20:52

You can try How to get away with murder (Netflix). It’s really good, the first season has a great story, however it’s more of a drama show than a true crime sort of show

SavageBeauty73 · 12/06/2019 20:53

Unforgotten, Luther, Line of Duty are my favourites

stopitandtidyupp · 12/06/2019 20:56

What is happening with this thread?

Aberforthsgoat · 12/06/2019 20:57

Line of Duty is great
Killing Eve isn’t your usual kind of crime thriller but it’s brilliant and two series are on iplayer now
Vera is easy watching and on itv hub
Scott and Bailey worth a watch
The Five and Sharp Objects on Now TV/Sky also good

cantstopthefeeling · 12/06/2019 21:00

The Cry on BBC was great. Also check out In Plain Sight (true crime story) on ITV, think it's on Amazon too. The Victim on BBC recently really good and chilling. Also The Fall and Rellik both BBC. Also I know Spooks is good for both standalone and long threads running.

chuttypicks · 12/06/2019 21:02

Elementary

Thestral · 12/06/2019 21:03

Came on to suggest Hinterland, but see I'm 84 repeat posts too late.

Actual out-loud laughing here at his bonkers glitchy thread! Grin

nickymanchester · 12/06/2019 21:07

There's been something wrong with MN causing the multiple comments - it's happening on all threads not just this one.

This might be a bit low brow for you but how about Death in Paradise?

It's available on Netflix

Eistigi · 12/06/2019 21:08

The Wire

nickymanchester · 12/06/2019 21:08

Or how about Jonathon Creek?

Howlovely · 12/06/2019 21:11

The Cry was good and The Victim was flippin amazing. Loved it. I second The Bridge. For something more light-hearted, Agatha Raisin is easy viewing. Poirot is on several times a day on Sky!

Buffymum · 12/06/2019 21:12

River - a few years old but loved it , same actor as unforgotten
Helen Dorn - more 4, German subtitled v good
What Remains
