Am I being unreasonable to think that if a man has BO and doesn’t have a particularly physical job that it’s because he hasn’t washed and used a deodorant? And if he hasn’t washed his armpits then he hasn’t washed his penis? It just occurred to me the other day. I don’t mind a bit of BO if you’re in very very close range but when it smells from a few metres away, how clean are those penises?

Some unfortunate people are very clean but have a medical condition which gives a strong smell no matter what they do. I used to work with a chap who washed (apparently - we didn't talk about it) but he didn't change his shirt every day. Even in an office environment this caused a bit of a pong.

Washing clothes at 30’ doesn’t clear a sweat smell.

At least men don’t generally wear nylon underpants these days. I remember thick nylon highly patterned underpants hanging on the line.

Even if a person uses "deodorant" they will still get BO by the end of the day as it it just a perfumed Body Spray (like all Lynx in the black cans). If they use "Anti-perspirant" on the other hand (Lynx in the white cans for example) they will not get BO as the sweat is stopped.

I had to explain this fully to my 16 year old sons who wear poly-cotton school shirts and a polyester blazer and who can properly reek by the end of a school day if they sprayed the wrong stuff under their arms.

As my DH has got older (50 now) he smells less and less all over, no BO even if he forgets to put AP on. Apart from after energetic sex, but then it smells kind of lovely.

Swimming pools... poo crumbs... 😭😭. Never in my 40 years have I ever experienced smegma (thank the lord) if it's accumulating over the space of about 8 hours I'm going to suggest you get that checked. I can guarantee the penises I've been familiar with have not done that 😬.
To answer the question I think often it will be the case that all parts are whiffy but not always

For a guy, armpits get smellier than dangly bits faster during the course of a day. I can wash everything in the shower thoroughly but if I forget anti-perspirant people around me will know before lunchtime.

Although BigusBumus has a point - as I cross into my 40s I've noticed I can get away with it more.

So uh... not sure what you really want to hear OP but if the guy doesn't believe in anti-perspirant he could possibly still be sporting adequately sanitary undercarriage.

I've worked as a HCP and smegma is definitely not a myth. When young boys start washing themselves they should be taught to push back their foreskin and wash under it.
However, women aren't blameless. If they don't wash their vulvas (not vaginas) with water - not soap - they too get a nasty white build-up. Believe me.

My ex was a right soap dodger, and his ahem undercarriage REEKED of urine and nicotine. (He was a very heavy smoker). It was grim. He also had like rings of dirt around it.

I forgot to put deoderant on last week. I smelled by noon. I had showered that morning at around 7. Some people just smell quickly.

I was adding context. They are my colleagues, they are related to each other. They are a mother and her children (I don't want to give specifics, daughter or son etc so I used children).

I felt it relevant to my story as the parent and children live together and therefore it isn't just the younger with poor hygiene but all of the family.

Umm,no intenrtion of seeing a doctor as there isnt a problem. It does seem the ammount of this substance may vary quite a bit between persons due to environment temperture etc. I would ask how many women do inspect the tackle closely before engagment as some may well pleasure their man some may not.

That implies some will get inspected and some won't also men who have bene mulitated i.e. circumcised will not acculate as much as if any at all I have to state that i don't get to inspect other togders anyway!
