I have a serious Diet Coke habit, and for the umpteenth time have been reminded just how bad it is for me. So I’m looking for healthy alternatives aside from tea/coffee. I’m avoiding sugar so really need low sugar alternatives to diet fizzy pop. Thanks l!

REDCARBLUE · 08/06/2019 14:58

One coffee in morning them water.

Then beer in the evening!

ChodeofChodeHall · 08/06/2019 14:59

Kombucha will help you quit your pop habit and it's cheap and easy to make at home.

tardyheart · 08/06/2019 15:00

gin Fruit tea or water, I have a serious coffee habit which I'm trying to kick.

Siameasy · 08/06/2019 15:01

Sparkling water only. I really love it now I’m used to it.

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 08/06/2019 15:01

I drink decaf coffee until about 3pm. After that it’s cucumber water or peppermint tea. At nights it’s wine or camomile tea.

gumbucket · 08/06/2019 15:01

I'm confused by the question. There are other drinks available during the day other than tea and coffee???

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 08/06/2019 15:03

Isn't sparkling water bad for your teeth? Or did I dream that?

Teddybear45 · 08/06/2019 15:04

Water. Lemon Robinsons.

Stravapalava · 08/06/2019 15:05

Mostly water. Sometimes no added sugar squash or low sugar fizzy drinks - cherry pepsi max and no sugar lilt are my favourites. I'll sometimes have a hot chocolate before bed.

80sMum · 08/06/2019 15:05

I have a mug of coffee with breakfast and a mug of green tea in the afternoon. Apart from those, I only drink water.

OpportunityKnocks · 08/06/2019 15:09

Water. And tea (decaff as I'm bf).

I used to be a diet coke addict, during the week and was getting the caffeine come down headache on weekends. So prepare for a couple if days of headaches.

Once you get used to it, water will be your preferred drink, seriously! Buy some nice refillable water bottles and you'll be away

maddiemookins16mum · 08/06/2019 15:11

Water, sometimes squash. The occasional can of pop or the occasional glass of milk.

Oysterbabe · 08/06/2019 15:11

Nope, I looked into it due to how much I get through and there's no known health risks, only benefits. It's helps prevent constipation.

Misshicks · 08/06/2019 15:14

Water at work. Lemonade or orange juice at home.

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/06/2019 15:23

I have one coffee with breakfast (and if I'm at the gym very early i.e. 6.30am I'll also have an espresso before I leave home) and after that it's water all day. I drink a minimum 2.5 litres. In the evening after dinner, I often switch to sparkling water as it feels more like a 'proper' drink.

I've never really been big on fizzy drinks so it's not a hardship. I keep cans of Coke/Pepsi in my fridge for visitors but I've never touched one myself. I used to drink a glass of fruit juice every morning and I found that hard to give up at first. But that was years ago. I don't miss it now and only have fruit juice if I'm having breakfast in a hotel.

LaDameAuxLicornes · 08/06/2019 15:32

Small glass of fruit juice, usually orange juice, with breakfast. Tea, coffee and chilled tap water during the day. Sparkling water and/or wine in the evening. I buy sparkling water in glass bottles to at least avoid the excess plastic if not the air miles, and try to treat it more as an alternative to non-water drinks than as an alternative to tap water iyswim.

If you're a Diet Coke fiend then I suspect sparkling water would be the best healthy swap for you, with or without cordial. I second the recommendation for Belvoir elderflower cordial above.

misskatamari · 08/06/2019 15:36

Mostly I just drink water throughout the day. I feel so much better when I keep well hydrated and really notice if I haven't drunk much some days. I've started brewing kombucha as well, which is fermented sweet tea (but low sugar after the fermentation). I try and have that instead of fizzy drinks now so usually have a glass in the afternoon

tor8181 · 08/06/2019 15:40

i drink full fat coke, milk(pints and pints) and water

i dont drink tea, coffee or alcohol

BobbinThreadbare123 · 08/06/2019 15:41

Tea! So much tea. Water. Hot chocolate at night or if I'm very cold. Mint tea. Very occasionally, squash but only certain flavours. I've never drunk pop as a routine, or fresh orange for that matter.

2eternities · 08/06/2019 15:46

Water and the odd glass of apple /orange juice. I don't know how anyone can drink fizzy drinks more than the occasional few Swigs I hate the stuff. DP loves it can Polish off a two litre bottle within a few hours, his teeth have suffered massively.

MotherWol · 08/06/2019 20:00

I’m very into the fizzy seltzer waters you can get at the moment- they’re sparkling and fruit flavoured, so feel like having a fizzy drink, but without the sugar. My favourites are Dash in Cucumber or Blackberry, the Grapefruit Aqua Libre, and the citrus Ugly Water.

OxanaVorontsova · 08/06/2019 20:02

Apart from tea/coffee, I just drink water

Pinkvoid · 08/06/2019 20:07

I’m currently the same, either cherry Coke Zero or cherry Pepsi Max. I easily drink 2L a day...

When I was mega healthy I just drank water and the occasional green tea.

HolesinTheSoles · 08/06/2019 20:08

Soda stream so fizzy water and elderflower cordial. Bloody love that stuff!
